4/5 The Oracion Seis Arc is still going. I thought it was wrapping up in the last volume but nope it’s still going strong. We have a little more back story on the guild Cait Shelter and why they’re being targeted by Nirvana.

We have a battle between Erza and Midnight which is pretty cool but over far too quickly.

Lastly we reveal Oracion Seis’ “secret?” leader Zero and set up a battle between him and Natsu. We get a little bit of that Shonen cliche “I get my power from my friends” but I’m willing to over look it for the sake of dumb fun.

Natsu and Igneel on the cover of volume 19.

I missed my babies. I promise to never take such a long break between volumes again 😭

A Jellal and Natsu team up? (Or whatever you want to call it) I never thought I’d see the day.

I've read up to volume;
#20: ★★★★☆
but i don't like the cover, so...

Natsu vs Zero was a great fight. And I enjoyed most of the matches of this arc, but I'm not a fan of how easily most of the villains were defeated.
And I'm still super confused who is Jellal or whatever his name is.

I'll give this one an extra star like I did the last one, because Erza has a cool battle sequence, and Lucy gets a really good scene, too!

The Nirvana sequence isn't quite done, but since a lot of these story arcs tend to play out like video games, with some underling battles and then a boss, I'm thinking we aren't too far from the end of it.

I do wonder what's going to happen with : This series could easily become overly dependent on --we've had a good number of them already. Too many events like that, and the reader gets a feeling that nothing that happens has real consequence for the characters. A battle manga isn't designed to stand up very well to this sort of analysis, though. :D

The Nirvana arc is coming to a close, but before it does Mashima-sensei is treating us to fantastic artwork. There were so many splash pages where I simply stopped reading and just admired the energy and skill of the artwork. Definitely stand out work in this volume.

Erza————————!!!! You always make me surprise! She always thinks of her Nakama and she fights to protect or save them. Even if the darkness of Midnight was very huge and strong, Erza never given up, and she finally beated Midnight with her light. Gerard! You are hindrance!

Winding down to the major fight to save an entire guild, Jellal and Erza facing a major fight of their own, and the members of the opposing guild facing possible defeat. This Volume of Fairy Tail is packed with quick thinking of Erza, caring of Wendy and the unmistakable will of Natsu with his Guild.

This manga series is still developing, but with so much story and back story continuing to form, this is an amazing read to relax but still have an edge to.

In short? I think Erza and Midnight's fight may be one of my favorite battles in all of manga ever.

For Nirvana to stop, the wizards must join together to defeat midnight
It is Brain who was acting as Hoteye to speak telepathically to them, leading them to a trap,
Midnight has seeked out Erza and Jellal
When the explosion trap when off, Jura took the brunt of it. Protecting everyone
Jellal was defeated ‘easily’ Erza figures out Midnight uses Reflector magic. (He can bend, twist and mutilate anything)
The staff Brain carried can talk and float on its own?
Erza is beaten badly
Cait Shelter holds the last magic wielders who can seal Nirvana away. That is why they are attacking them first
Midnight tried to persuade Jellal to join the OS because he is coated in darkness and sins. Erza refuses to let his light be tarnished. She stands once again to fight Midnight
Erza finds all Midnights weaknesses. 1. He can only reflect a magic attacks (such as armour) so her hitting him with a fist he cannot reflect. 2. He can only use it in one space at a time, around his opponent or himself
Midnight transforms!!!??
Erza and Jellal get speared through the torsos by his tentacle arms:. Oh it was just an illusion
Midnights prayer was to simple sleep in a nice and quiet place
With all six OS members defeated, it is revealed that Brain has a second ‘personality’ called Zero, with so much power that brain sealed him away. The six keys being the OS members.
Zero is the master of OS
He defeats Natsu, Grey, and Lucy very easily..
Zero longs for destruction, whether right or wrong. So he fires at Cait Shelter.
The shit missed because Christina (the blue Pegasus flying attack ship) attacks Nirvanas leg, throwing it off balance
The legs of Nirvana have lacrima’s and they suck magic energy out of the earth
Everyone was worried about Natsu’s group (Gray, Lucy, Natsu and Happy) being down and out. With the hope they’re okay and the need of six wizards, their panic was high. But those wizards are not easily beat.
Natsu gets to Lacrima 1. Where Zero is
JELLAL???? Went to Lacrima 1 and shot Natsu when he was fight Zero????
Jellal was saying he hoped to lend him fire.. okay.
Among their bickering, Zero tries to off them both while they’re occupied. Jellal takes the full hit, in the same stance Simon too Jellals for Erza.
Jallal to Wendy: Consume the air.. no, consume the sky.. consume the heavens.. for within you lies the power of a dragon.
Natsu took Jellals golden flame, restoring his power. Dragon Force?
Lucy has no magic power left but didn’t want to let everyone down. I’m the Knick of time Gemini appears, posing as Lucy to be able to defeat the Lacrima in her place
Natsu hones in the feelings and emotions of his friends, allowing him to use his dragon slayer secret attack: Blaze of Fire - Eploding Blade
Bonus Chapter:
A chapter of possible romance. Cana draws a card telling Lucy she’ll have a fateful encounter with
Lucy and a ‘writer’ grab the same book, when she runs out of the store, He catches up with her. He offers her the book in exchange for her showing him around the town.
Natsu asked Lucy to go on job with him but writer guy asked Lucy to dinner, she says no to Natsu.
After learning how much it meant to them that Lucy joins them, sending Cana in her place.
Natsu said it was her (Lucy’s) birthday, when she tried to correct him he elaborated that it’s the been one year since she was birthed as a Fairy Tail wizard… that’s so sweet!!!!

This will be my full review for this entire series. I already read this comic from volume 1-30. Suppose there 50 volume more of this series but I prefer not to finish it as I don't really like the time-skip idea in this series.

To clarify, I love the idea of time-skip. But, in this series, I really hate it. It make Natsu and other main member weaker. Why make them weaker? I want to see MC progress throughout the series. Then, suddenly become weaker. Not to mention when MC want to win each battle, power of friendship keep coming back each battle.

Furthermore, there are a lot of un-explained things happened in this series. The dots are not connected rather than scattered throughout the series. It just there to fill the plot-hole. Rather than explaining, Mr Hiro keep continuing the series and keep adding new characters each volume.

So, after the time-skip, I determine to stop reading this series. I don't want to ruin my memories of this awesome series. For most part, this series actually had huge potential because of interesting and lovable character, but the plot is keep on damaging this series slowly.

The heroes revive to face what's left of the Oracion Seis and determine how it is that they can stop Nirvana.

This volume gives just enough to make the majority of it a focus on Natsu as he makes his attempt to destroy the first of the six lacrima. He ends up battling with the master of the Oracion Seis dark guild who is introduced in this volume. Mashima seems to level up Natsu a bit here, and there are some interesting points about where his power comes from, and we see his and Lucy's strengths on display in particular.

The Lucy side story at the end is amusing and well-handled as well.

The Oracion Seis Arc is in full swing with loads of surprises and twists. The story truly felt like it was going to end and then....BOOOOMMM!!! Lots more action and adventures yet to come. The battles are so intense they actually have me wondering how much more "Next Level" the Fairy Tail Guild can push it. I loved this book but I do wonder how much more they can push the members once this story arc concludes?!? But then again...that is what good writers do...create situations that seem impossible and then make the impossible, possible. Natsu vs Zero is MUST READ MANGA!!!! The side story add-on is a nice addition to this volume as well.

Erza finishes off the last of the Oracion Seis, only for the master of the evil guild, a wizard named Zero, to appear and keep up both the fight against the good wizards and the attempt to destroy the Cait Shelter. Zero is obsessed with only one thing--destruction! So he makes a pretty good villain for just about anybody. The story gets awfully close to wrapping up in this issue, but I guess I need to go one more to see the finale.

The volume also includes a little side story about Lucy's most fateful day. The story is cute but reads like filler.

Thoughts on this volume:
• Guys wake up, seventh member of the Oracion SEIS just appeared.
• Midnight went down so hard and so quick, like Erza babe, you could've taken your time DEVOURING.
• Jellal getting his memories back and immediately thinking of giving Natsu a meal? Smart move.
• Wendy's first Sky Dragon Roar!! What does this girl mean she doesn't know any offensive magic!! HELLO?
• The golden flame being the flame of guilt? Catholicism core!!! Honestly though, very glad that we are back to Our Roots with Natsu, like YEAH! Get that man some goddamn fire to eat!

Yes!!!!!!!!!! That strength, that determination, that call to action!!!! This volume is everything I love about Fairy Tail. The surprise twist, female empowerment, strength from friendship and the greatness of dragon slayer magic. I need more now! I'd normally give greater detail for a review but being as it's now the final battle, all I will say is that last panel of Chapter 157 is what I'm currently living for! "Yeah, we hear ya!"

(THIS REVIEW IS ORIGINALLY FROM STORYGRAPH, FROM 23RD AUGUST 2025.)

It's obvious that Natsu and Lucy are the main characters of the story; Lucy being the in-story stand in for us, the reader; Natsu the representative of the wildness of the story and its world as a whole. It really works! But it does sometimes leave me wishing that Lucy could stand out more, and that Natsu wasn't the one always coming in clutch at the end.

"Erza... It was your words especially that were the light that gave me the courage to go on... Live and find out what happens next." - Jellal

I hate saying this out loud (or rather typing it out) but I have this weird liking for Jellal. He is probably one of the most twisted characters in the entire manga. No, scratch that. I believe he is the most twisted character in the entire manga, second only to Zeref. Or maybe even Zero. And yet, I still am in love with him. Ever since he has recovered, he has been having that redeemable quality to him. In fact, even in the previous volumes, when the characters were reliving their childhood, it felt as if Jellal had the most terrible time of all. Entrapped by Ultear without even realizing it, the kid's story broke my heart.

Even after all the things that he has done in the past, I feel more sorry towards him than I hate him. I mean, yes, he had these weird plans and everything but still....

This volume was a particular favourite of mine because it reminded me of why I love Natsu and Erza, two of my most favourite characters in the entire series. I didn't quite see much of Gray here but I'm fine with it. I'm certain there will be more of him and Lucy soon enough and I can't wait to find out about them! (And of course, the story. Lol, the story, too.)

The art is beautiful and so are the fight scenes.
However, there's not much plot movement in this entire volume.
