I didn't just look at the pictures, I actually read the whole thing from cover to cover. I bought it in Harbor Springs MI while on a boat trip from Chicago. Not the easiest book to lug around, so sitting on a boat was perfect. I had lots of time to read. Nice to know Felix Feneon, with whom the author collaborated, knew Seurat and was actually in some of the artwork. I was going to be scenic painter for "Sunday In The Park With George" and enjoyed the immersion into his world. It really got me ready. Fascinating short life. Loved the book.

Good intro to Seurat but I liked Herbert's and Paul Smith's better. Pictures are great quality in the hardcover, and very helpful if you're trying to understand Seurat's color theory.
