It's that time of one of New York's premier magazines is compiling its annual "Hottest Private School Boy" issue. Jonathan, Mickey, David, Arno, and Patch all figure they're shoo-ins, but will the competition to be chosen as the cover model tear the guys apart? Add to that a few twists and turns in their love lives, a visit from an internationally acclaimed photographer (whose specialty is nude crowd shots), and an invasion by a clique of Upper East Side It Girls, and the Insiders might find themselves clamoring for a way out .
This is the fourth novel in the INSIDERS series, which has yet to disappoint! I love the crazy antics of the boys (and their girlfriends); I just wonder if there is really a group of New York boys this crazy!
Mickey gets into some interesting forms of photography -- put it that way! He even comes up with a crazy way to get all of his friends into it. David begins dating Philippa again, but then something comes out about her. Arno is putting all of his energy into being the Hottest Private School Boy (Who I personally think should be Patch, but what do I know?). Patch is looking for what completes him, which may by one of the many girls of his past. Can you guess who? Jonathan is going out with Flan (Where did her parents come up with that name?).
There are some very interesting things that happen to the boys, such as partying too hard (as usual) and some thievery. No one wants a backstabbing friend. Here's a clue: the person hangs out with the Insiders but is not well liked by them. Read the book to find out all the hot gossip on the hottest guys around.
This was such a confusing read. A book that has girls on the cover but is about four guy friends? Typical early 2000’s YA book, the storyline is weak and shallow and culturally outdated/offensive.
In the book break every rule by J.Minter it discusses about a group of friends who live in new york and they all go to private schools together. They all like to party, meet girls, and drink. When world about the HPSB (Hottest Public School Boy) issue is going to be released and everyone wants to be a part of it. When the main character meets the reporter that is doing the HPSB issue he thinks he already has it so he planned a party and told everyone to come for a surprise the day after the issue would come out. When he goes to the news stand to go pick up a few of his brand new HPSB issues when he looks at the cover he notice something very unusual. It was his friend Arno on the cover and he was devastated. He must of read the words on the cover to him self about 20 times before the person at the newsstand asked him if your not paying for it get out of here. SO for the next few weeks they go to many huge events and party's where their group is the spot light and supposedly the hottest boys in new york. Eventually they let their fame get to them and their group of friends starts to break away and all of them kinda start to do their own thing. When people sort of stop noticing Arno like they use to he starts to get insecure about his whole perspective.
This book is about a group of boys that lives a more upper status life. This books is the in the boys point of view. So, it about a guy who got famous for bring the hottest and coolest guy in New York. But his friends had a problem with that, because the lady, who chooses him, also interviewed some other of his friends telling them that they were going to be the hottest and coolest guy. There was some jealousy going on, but later one of the friends was arrested from stealing money from his friend’s mother’s wallet to plan a big party. But at the end, the guys learned that everything was just messed up, and decided to let everything go and just be friends and enjoy what they do together. I thought this book was very confusing because I didn’t know the order of the way this book was written. So, when I found out, the first book I was suppose to read, I didn’t borrow. So, I just read the book that I had borrowed. But it wasn’t really confusing, because I still understood what was going on, and there wasn’t anything that was written that you had to read the first book to understand the other books.
The book starts with the interviewing of the boys to be chosen to put on the magazine cover as the hottest Private School Boy. Mickey the one that looks highly of himself sure that the winner would be him, he was so sure that he had already planned a party. But Arno ended up being the hottest boy. Then there is a hidden jealousy between Mickeys to Arno’s popularity which he thinks was suppose to be his. At the end of the story Arno’s friend was caught stealing money to create a party for Arno but use his famous to earn ticket money. Arno’s cover magazine have changed topic. Mickey’s girlfriend broke up with him because he is too crazy about winning and not happy with what he had. Patch, Mickey’s girlfriend’s brother was supposed to be the hottest boy but he wants something that satisfy him and that’s not fame. This book discussed the love and jealousy the boys have in their life. I personally think the book was okay, it got me bored a little.
This book, Insiders: Break Every Rule, is about a group of rich students who live in New York City. Each one of the students have there own plot in the book. Patch travels across the country to find the one that got away. Arno lands the cover of a big magazine and is loving the attention until he tells the truth about how he got on it. Rob just became Arno's it man and he throws a huge party for him, that gets him in major trouble. David finds a girl who inspires him into being different, but after that one night he can't find her again. While Jonathan is too distracted to realize his girlfriend needs him. This book makes you feel attached to each one of them and you care about what happens to them next. I couldn't wait to find out where each character ends up.
3.5 stars! "David, will you shut up and let me apologize like a man?" Oh, lord. Sadly, this is my first book in the series, I know out of order, but I read it anyway since I was in the mood for something light and fun. I got exactly what I needed! I read most of the book in one sitting. These guys are absolutely hilarious! This was perfect to get me out of my depressing slump. It was quick and easy and had me laughing out loud so many times! I am definitely continuing with these guys when I get the chance. Their shenanigans are the best! I always find it refreshing with the main characters are guys.
