Justine Korman is the author of over 600 children's books, including mega-selling adaptations of Disney hits like THE LION KING, plus her original popular GRUMPY BUNNY series for Scholastic.
Justine has been writing all her life. She worked part-time in publishing while earning her B.A. in English Literature, Phi Beta Kappa from New York University. While an editorial assistant at Golden Books, she met her future husband and partner, Ron Fontes, an artist in the Whitman Comics department, who moved on to mighty Marvel Comics.
When Justine started getting freelance writing assignments, Ron pitched in and a children's book writing team was born! Ron brought visual storytelling, theatre, and history; Justine enthusiasm, humor, and a straight-A attitude.
In 1988, the couple moved to Maine, where they have written everything from beginning readers and novelty books to historical fiction and graphic novels. Justine's hobbies include fitness, juggling, gardening, cooking, and playing the ukulele. She also enjoys making movies with Ron.
The prolific couple's goal is to write 1001 children's books.
My two year old nephew gave this book to read to him. It's a cute litte story about an Easter bunny who wants all the candy for himself and doesn't understand what will happen if he doesn't spread the joy of Easter to all the little creatures in the forest. Of course things turn out to be horrible and Grumpy Bunny learns a lesson in sharing and giving to others. My nephew loves this story so in turn his aunt DD likes it too.
The Grumpy Easter Bunny by Justine Korman is a wonderful book and perfect for a spring/easter themed read. Hopper is one of the easter bunnies responsible for spreading love & joy along with tasty treats for all of the animals in the forest. He is a grumpy bunny by nature and is quite resentful for having to share all the treats he worked so hard to make. One Easter he is overcome with greed and decides to hoard the treats and have a feast instead of spreading them throughout the forest. The next morning he witnesses three very sad kittens fighting over the one treat that got loose from his wagon. In the spirit of love and joy, the kittens decide to share the treat and make peace with each other. Hopper witnesses the whole episode with the kittens and is overcome with sadness and guilt for not wanting to share. This story with its strong moral lesson is an enjoyable read. It is geared for children aged 9 years, but both of my young boys love it. It is a great book to open up discussions around sharing and the gift of giving. The Grumpy Easter Bunny is beautifully illustrated by Lucinda McQueen.
