What a great "Diet" book. It really isn't your typical diet book. This is a comprehensive look at improving health and maintaining such a lifestyle. What a great way to live the Word of Wisdom. This approach to health is not focused on calorie counting or eliminating vast amounts of foods forever; neither is it about excessive and strenuous exercising. It is about approaching life in a balanced and healthy way and reclaiming the health we were meant to have.

The approach has five steps:
1. Healthy Nutrition
2. Stress Management
3. Tapering off/avoiding toxic chemicals
4. Exercise (in moderation)
5. Hormone Replacement Therapy (if needed)

I've done LOTS of diets and never has there been one that is comprehensive or realistic to do in the long run.

I love Dr. Diana Schwarzbein's books. She has done much research and is sharing it with the world to help as many people as possible find balance and health. When I eat and live the way she recommends, not only am I healthier, but I'm more optimistic and happier overall. I have recently suffered a huge set back with an auto-immune attack on my body, and her program is getting me back on my feet. I swear by her research and program. Everybody should adopt these principles into their lifestyles!

The most difficult part about it, is that you do not lose weight right away. In fact, I have never stuck with it long enough to see that benefit in my life. I'm working on it though and because I feel so much better overall, it's become more of a lifestyle than ever.

This book isn't so much about losing weight...it's more about how to eat healthy to keep your body healthy on the inside. I learned a lot about how to balance meals and snacks...very interesting...I'd recommend it!

This book is not about losing weight but healing and maintaining a healthy metabolism by eating a balanced diet and exercising safely. It was recommended by a physician. It also has a good section on maintaining hormonal balance.

I found the book to be a compelling way of eating, but didn't find it sustainable for the long-term.

Excellent approach to a moderately low-carb diet and metabolic healing. I eventually found I had to limit carbs more strictly than Schwarzbein recommends to lose enough weight, though.

Pretty basic rules that make sense: eat real food, don't eat too much/too little, get enough sleep, stress less, and exercise moderately. The extensive supplements list is a little much though.
