*** NOTE: This book has been re-published as "Sheriff and the Showgirl", book two in the Curvy Girl Steamy Romance series.
Regina Carlysle is an award winning, multi-published author. She likes writing that is hot, edgy, and often humorous, and puts this trademark stamp on all of her stories. Regina lives in west Texas with her husband of 25 years and counting and is a doting, fawning, and over-indulgent mother to her two kids. When she's not penning steamy erotic tales or hot contemporary stories, she's indulging in long chats with friends who help her stay sane and keep her laughing.
Sam Campbell has seen a lot of things in his life as a sheriff officer but none like Lola Lamont. She came in like a whirlwind with a body that has made him act like a school boy hitting puberty for the first time. Seeing Lola for the first time he feels an urge to protect her at any cost. The thing is she is a woman who doesn’t want his protection but something else. He knows he’s good looking but can he have a woman like her? As a sheriff he must maintain a reputation of good upstanding but feels that he is missing something in his life. Lola is definitely the woman who is opposite of what he should have yet his heart is telling him something else. Can he have Lola in his life when she still wants to leave the town?
Lola Lamont has been hurt in life and doesn’t want any commitments right now. Yet when she first meets the sheriff she is wondering about fate. She’s had some bad luck lately and meeting this gorgeous cool drink of water just gets her going. Some part of her makes wants to stay and build a life in the small town. The other half just wants a fling with Sam, but without her heart getting in the way. Lola knows that a man like Sam cannot just have a fling without giving his heart away—something she knows she would want forever in her life. Can she be with the sheriff without her heart getting in the way?
One word for Regina’s book, Trouble in Stetson, is HOT. This author sure knows how to write sex and a storyline to make you want more. I loved the way Lola was in the whole story for one minute you think she’s your regular showgirl, yet in a minute she’s an all American girl just wanting someone to love her. Regina did a great job in Sam for he is not your usual sheriff. He’s a man who wants Lola but has a conscience that makes him want to go to the devil side yet wants to be good as well. Loved it all—the whole book.
First, I want to thank Regina Carlysle for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Sheriff and the Showgirl is part of the Curvy Girl Steamy romance series and boy Regina Carlysle turn up the heat!! This was an extremely hot and fun to read book.
I connected with the dedication of the book spot on as many others will too. To all those who have been told they are too pretty, too ugly, too skinny, too fat, or judged bases of skin color, political leanings or religious beliefs.
Syneca Featherstone did a magnificent job with her cover art on this book. She is incredibly talented at designing covers for authors.
One of the many things I loved in this book was how it was in the small town of Mesa Blanco, Texas. I’m a sucker for a southern accent. In this book the accent comes out loud and clear. Plus, who doesn’t love hunky cowboys, ranchers, etc?
The banter between Sam and Lola was comical and had me cracking up laughing like crazy! Like how Sam thought she had rocks in her luggage. Turned out she had one suitcase for shoes and one for clothing. What made it funny is that is something my sister would do-and-has done in the past.
In the same token their sexual tension and chemistry is off the charts! Regina is very in tuned to her characters and writes some very erotic scenes.
interesting and sweet and sexy. it was good and i enjoyed it. the characters were entertaining and the plot was well written. super hott and fun to read. plus i love the cover haha.
One thing which truly appealed to me in this book was the first line of the dedication, "This book is dedicated to all who have been told they are too pretty, too ugly, too skinny, too fat or are judged on the basis of skin color, political leanings or religious beliefs." That actually hooked me in this tale of The Sheriff and the Showgirl!
Lola is friendly, loveable and so much fun, on top of that she loves things which are pink and frilly!!! A Las Vegas 'Pink Flamingo Girl' Lola is sacked when she turns thirty, not only that she discovers that her fiance (a casino owner) was cheating on her and he dumped her. With her friends Lola packs up her pink Caddy and heads out, breaking down on Mesa Blanco and discovering life in a small town isn't quite what she remembered. She grew up in the south, poor but willing to work hard, when her Mum died when she was 19 Lola sold the trailer and headed for Vegas, working jobs to pay for dance lessons until she became a showgirl.
Sam is gruff and all sheriffy and divorced, his wife having left him for better prospects, a city life and a rich husband. As a result Sam has a little chip on his shoulder about it all, but after a rocky start he and Lola finally get it together and make the sheets burn.
What interested me was this idea of prejudice and judgement, he thinks she wants a rich husband, and all she wants is to be loved and doesn't understand why he doesn't call. However when there is a disturbance outside her home Sam comes to the rescue. It is a story about enlightenment and hot sex. A good combination. I really enjoyed this story, more than the first and I am looking forward to Roxy's tale!
A sexy and interesting read which I think you would enjoy. I give Trouble in a Stetson 4 frilly knickers out of 5. A damp panty read with cowboy hats on!
With two of her friends in two, Lola Lamont escapes the Vegas life only to break down in the smallest town on any southern map. With her car in need of desperate repairs, she takes a job as a waitress, but not before she gets a good look at the hottest sheriff to ever where a badge. He's Trouble in a Stetson, and she can't resist.
She's trouble. And Sheriff Sam Campbell hasn't had some of that since the woman he loved walked out on him. Sam knows what he shouldn't do. He can see the future of this entanglement ruining his bachelor plans. But the well built bombshell is irresistible, so he vows to protect his heart anyway he can.
It's a power of wills between a determined woman and strong willed man. Who will win? The ex Vegas Show Girl or the strong willed cop? Either way, sequins fly and sex is hotter than any Texas day in the throws of Summer heat.
WARNING: M/F romance and delicious erotic sex
*Giggles* There were parts I went back and reread. I loved how Ms. Carlysle was upfront with her character's flaws and fears. You never had to ponder where their feelings were coming from. The insecurity that plagued Lola was palatable and real. While Sam's need to be with her and his mind fighting the urge to love, left me fulfilled. This was a wonderful and delicious followup to Trouble in Cowboy Boots and I can't wait to finish the trilogy in the weeks to come!
Congratulations Ms. Regina Carlysle on Four and Half Blue Roses! It was a pleasure to read. :) Regina Carlysle's website- http://reginacarlysle.com/
Lola Lamont and her friends, Roxie and Emily, said to hell with their life, got in Lola’s pink Caddy, and drove. They broke down in a small Texas town named Mesa Blanco, and, tired and exhausted, went inside the cafe. Lola’s life changed right there upon seeing the sheriff, Sam Campbell. He was so different to her ex, Nick, who wore suits that did nothing to showcase things a girl wants to imagine beneath the clothing. Sam’s uniform molded to his body, making Lola take in every inch of him with a hungry gaze. Phew, he’d set her panties on fire if she wasn’t careful!
Landing a job in the cafe, Lola saw much more of Sam and got to know him pretty well (pwoar!). She was used to men looking at her body—she was a dancer who knew all the right moves—but Sam looked at her differently and treated her with respect. She liked that. For the first time in forever, she found herself thinking she could have a good relationship with a man.
As is usual for Lola, something always comes along to ruin things. This something is in the form of her ex, who thinks nothing of breezing into town thinking he can pick up where they left off. Lola is having none of it—after all, she’s had a taste of the delightfully sexy Sam and being treated like a woman not a trophy. Sam is yummily jealous, and I loved seeing this side of him—the lion roaring to protect his woman. Oh, hand me a damn fan and call me hot, will ya?
I loved reading Trouble in a Stetson (Sequins, Saddles, and Spurs, Book Two), all about Lola Lamount a show girl from Vegas & Sheriff Sam Campbell. They met when her car literally broke down in front of the Blue Bell Cafe, and in trooped her and her two BFF's looking to totally hot and completely exhausted. In fact they only had enough money for one large coke and three straws. However their were three very hot guys who paid for two additional large cokes so each of the girls could have their own. Then they proceeded to tell how they ended up here, and in the telling of the story they naturally paired off with the hot hunks. Emily was paired with Wyatt who hired her to cook, Roxie was paired with the CHAPS owner who hired her to be a bartender & Lola was paired with Sam. The author wrote a very clever story that made a three book series, and the characters brought the story and the series to life! So if you like hot, steamy stories and you like to get wet while reading them, then this is the series for you. I first fell in love with Wyatt in book one, now I fell in love with Sam! I can't wait to read book three!
Unemployed thirty-somethings Emily, Roxie and Lola have gone on an adventure without thinking it through and end up stranded and broke in Mesa Blanco, Texas. Sam Campbell, county sheriff, is a deep thinker and instantly realises that Lola is “trouble, very big trouble and might as well have gold digger tattooed to her mighty fine ass.” So he spends the next week ignoring her. When they finally meet again she gives him both barrels: “I’m done with men who give off mixed signals. You either want me or you don’t. Obviously you don’t so hit the road, buddy.” Mixed signals, eh? Within a few short pages it gets hot and heavy - “Breathing hard, Sam held Lola in place against the door and wondered how she’d managed to turn him into an animal. He’d never been a man to disrespect women but he’d jumped her beautiful bones like a maniac.” There's lots of sex and fun moments and, of course, the inevitable misunderstanding that blows them apart. Can they get over it? Of course they can! “Sheriff and the Showgirl” is a fast, funny, sometimes thoughtful read which packs a lot into a small package. It's good fun.
I found this book discounted on Amazon via eBookDiscovery. This is my honest review. -From the first chapter you feel the admiration and lust Sam and Lola have for each other, then they gradually move to respect and love and it's so beautiful. -It's steamy, it's sexy, it's lovely. I loved it all. I had to read it in one sitting; I didn't want to miss anything or forget some details I liked. They are both generous lovers. -The drama didn't last long fortunately; probably just a few hours. The BFF's outraged fight was really funny and Sam endured it all. -For some reason, I thought the book would be regency or historical western. It's not. It's contemporary, with cars and mobile phones, and lots of makeup. I was not upset, just surprised. -Editing is great in general. It's just that if you want unusual words or expressions, you shouldn't use them twice in a short story/novella: "jetted his cum into the condom" can be read twice in 2 following chapters.
hot and steamy read that will have you flicking pages til the very end. Loved it. You'll love the sassy woman Lola is and the hunk of a man named Sheriff Sam. This may be a short story. But it's packed with everything you could want in a story. A southern cowgirl whose heart and job were lost in one night. When she and her friends blow into a small town with nothing and basically flat broke. A lil luck shines on her. Now just what to do and what if she goes again. Not like she has anyone special in her life at the moment. Sheriff Sam is beaten tired and all he needs is the brand of trouble that just walked through the doors. A gold digger. She may be all legs, blonde and curves to boot. But the sheriff knows her type. And he'll steer clear of her if he can. But something is very intriguing about Lil Miss Lola. What could it be?
I would love to me these people. This quick read was so much fun for me a book is almost always about the characters and the go-between banter was outstanding in this piece. It is a sweet and sexy story with one feisty lady in the lead role. The Sheriff is just one of those good boys you love to take home to mom. What Sam does with Lola is off the wall funny. You really should read this one it is so darn good and it will bring a smile to your face. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Love this, opposites attract. Lola is feisty, the sheriff is reserved...most of the time. I really like that they are both compassionate and realistic without being so desperate for companionship. She has great supportive friends who are practical and not envious. Short and on point, enjoyed reading and look forward to the author giving her friends a story on their own. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
She is a former showgirl and he is a sherriff she is new in town and she is trying to figure out where to do next. She gets a job and is provided a place to stay in. She and the sheriff are so good together. She loves the new town and how they take.care of each other. The sheriff is a good man who loves her to death.
Opposites attract when an ex Vegas showgirl and the town's sheriff meet. It was a fun read with characters that keep you entertained. I'm voluntarily reviewing this after receiving a free copy.
