For students of New Jersey history, former Governor Tom Kean's "The Politics of Inclusion" is a worthwhile read by a successful practitioner of politics. The book may have been one of the "campaign books" authored to raise one's profile (the popular Kean's name was often mentioned for higher office). However, in contrast to Alvin Felzenberg's dry biography, Kean holds the reader's attention, provides an interesting narrative of his rise in politics, and offers humorous anecdotes of encounters he had along the way. I was surprised by how the book held my attention. As autobiographies of New Jersey governors go, this is the best I have read.
