This book does depicts different types of families, whether children are adopted, parents are divorced, etc. However, the book focuses on a step family. It explains that stepfamily is united where the mom or dad remarries another person to form a family. Therefore, parents are now step parents, if he or she has children already, and the children become step children by having their mom or dad remarry. I can use this book in the classroom to explain how step families form, and the people who are in a step family. Also, I can state how this book discusses the changes within a family. I think this book will be a great addition to the class library as well so that students can not only read about the topic of family, but learn about different families as well. Also, I believe the children would love the pictures/ illustrations of this book as well.
