“Jeb didn’t want solace. He didn’t want peace. He wanted revenge. He wanted justice. That was the day something inside him broke, a part of him that he didn’t believe could be fixed. And most days, he didn’t care to fix it.” Sheriff Jebediah Barnett never expected he’d have to track down the killer of his deputy. Taking in his widow, the young and terrified Shae, and her young children, gives Jeb a brand new motive. Not only does he want to round up the people behind this tragedy, but his heart softens around the idea of taking care of a family. Yet, Texas doesn’t forgive and the ones who are guilty won’t back down.
