Mark Victor Hansen is an American inspirational and motivational speaker, trainer and author. He is best known as the founder and co-creator of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book series.
Mark Victor Hansen was born to Danish immigrants, Una and Paul Hansen. He grew up in Waukegan, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1970 with a B.A. in speech communications.
Along with business partner, Jack Canfield, Hansen is best known for creating what Time magazine called “the publishing phenomenon of the decade”. Chicken Soup for the Soul books are one of the most successful publishing franchises in the world today, with more than 500 million books sold internationally and more than 100 licensed products. This book is kind of interesting in that all the left-side pages tell you the theory stuff, which seems to be mainly the law of attraction. The right-side pages present the same concepts in the form of a story. The writing was kind of bad for the story, but I still enjoyed it anyway. Who doesn't love a totally happy ending where everyone gets everything they want and lives happily ever after?

I finally finished the left-brain side of this book. After a couple hundred pages of daydreaming and simplistic advice (Find a problem and solve it! There are millions of problems out there, and people will pay for solutions!), it ends by telling me (in a quiz) that I don't have enough faith and passion to succeed. Wow, and there I thought this would be a harmless but encouraging trip to fantasyland! What a discouraging ending! Bah, authors, you lose a star for that.
I can't seem to decide whether I even believe in this kind of thing, and if so, whether I'm convinced that being all fired up and rabid about everything is really the way to go. Even if it is, I'm not sure how to get that way when I'm not.
The thing is, what I want most right now is peace. I want to do my writing and other work in a calm manner and not worry about money or freak out about deadlines. It seems kind of funny (read: stupid) to try to get all fired up and burning with desire to be calm, peaceful, and zen.
Eh, I'm probably taking all this way too seriously.
One thing it did point out that was useful is that most people have a distaste for selling, but we're selling all the time, whether it's Girl Scout Cookies or the belief that you hate selling. If you believe in something, selling it is just sharing your true, passionate beliefs. If you don't, or you don't believe you can sell, you'll always suck. I've read this premise a million times, but nobody ever mentioned Girl Scout Cookies before. Here I've been thinking I hate selling stuff and am terrible at it, but actually, I kicked ass selling Girl Scout Cookies. I also rocked at selling candy to raise money for trips. It's when I tried to sell vacuum cleaners that I started thinking of sales as this horrible thing. I didn't feel rejected or offended when someone didn't want my Girl Scout Cookies--I knew Girl Scout Cookies are the bomb. If I can feel that level of "of course this is awesome" about my products, that will eliminate almost all of the pain from my business. That's a wow.
Also, there was an exercise where you're supposed to pretend you suddenly have $100 million dollars, and get an old checkbook and write checks for all of it. You can invest it, buy stuff, give it away, whatever, but you have to write checks to do something with all of it. I usually think of myself as quite self-contained, able to live on very little and not in need of much of anything. It was a different experience to think of what I would do if I had that much money. Fun stuff! If I take a round-the-world cruise next year, it will be because I realized I'd definitely do that if I had $100 million dollars... and then found out it only costs $20k or something like that.

Excellent sequel If you liked the One Minute millionaire, this is the same on steroids! It really focuses on the first invisible steps of wealth and abundance.
T. Harv Eker refers to these concepts as “to change the visible, you have to first change the invisible “, while Robert Kiyosaki alludes to the ideas as the state of the business being greater than the people who created it, so it crumbled.
The idea is a great pointer towards the power of mindfulness.

The book is split between describing the process and a narrative illustrating the process - probably works best in hardcopy. It doesn't address anything new or original: 1) Have a vision (desire) 2) Be positive, and 3) Build a team.
There is probably some value if you are new to these authors.
The authors are big fans of making money through real estate. They do support finding passive, residual income over linear, earned income.
Good ideas, interesting that it is half story and half theory. The theory part is not rocket science, and I was expecting more in depth tips. So it was a good book but I wish it were more in depth in some of the strategies.
The basic gist of this book is like many books that fall into the "life coach tells you how to live the life of your dreams" category--believe in yourself, what you put out in the world is what you will get back, and you are the master of your own destiny if you believe in it and have the vision. Various exercises throughout the book are designed to help you discover what knowledge and skills you already have that can be turned into profit.
I found the most helpful concepts introduced towards the end of the book. My favorite part was the idea that there are four currencies in your life: Relationship, Mobility, Time, and Money. The book includes an exercise to help you rate how you are doing in your own life in these currencies. I had an "aha moment" while I completed that exercise; it helped me understand my current situation better and helped me generate ideas about how to create change to have more of what I am looking for.
Finally, the book ends with general information about areas of profit that are good for building residual income, in which you get continued return from your sales of a product, service, or information.
My biggest red flag when reading this book is that it seems like the authors dance around the idea of Prosperity Theology, an idea of which I'm not a big fan. Aside from that, I do think there are some good ideas in this book about how to generate cash using knowledge, skills, and interests that you already have.
Very inspirational book. I am definitely going to take action to implement some of the steps to earn more cash. This book uses a slightly different format, which is great. Part of it presents the details and action plan to earn more money. The other part keeps a story going of women who get together to form a support group. It follows them as they implement their cash-earning ideas and shows the reader how to do it. After reading this book I immediately worked with the author Kat Jaske and got her book, For Honor, listed on the www.smashwords.com site to be available as an E-book in all the E-formats.
Most of this book is just hype and empty promises! The truth is, the only people that will make money from this book are the authors themselves - there are no new ideas in here that will help those of us who already do most of the things in this book. That being said, I suppose if you weren't doing some of the things in this book, you might get a little bit out of it. Overall, I don't recommend it.
mostly about entrepreneurship and encouraging a certain plan for selling an idea and generating cash from that, but i can't really do this effectively right now so i've decided to abandon this book, not sure if it's temporary or if it's for forever, time will tell!! for now, three stars because i read up to the parts about recognizing the critical voice, and found the "change your critical voice to sound like Mickey mouse!" very helpful :)
I like the 4 hour work weeks by Tim Ferris more because it shown more concrete example with resources to find out more and get start. This book is more of a mind set training. They giving you the ideas but not giving resource to follow. I recommend reading Tim Ferris's 4-hours after this book to get more links to resources.
I am impressed and encouraged by the approaches the authors take to preparing the reader to become a millionaire. I enjoy the focus on mind, heart, spirit, and practical tactics. The fictional story moves at a fast pace and is supremely engaging. I am learning a great deal!
This is two books in one. The right side or blue pages is fictional. The left side or white pages is supposed to teach us about getting cash. So far, I have learned that I have to will myself to make cash!?? I like the fictional side best.
I was led to this book via one of my mentors, Mark Victor Hansen -- co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series -- who is helping me with my first book. It's an inspirational and practical recipe book for wealth-building.
I am seeing results from using the principles in Cash in Flash to help me create my life of abundance and prosperity. A fantastic read that is valuable education as well as entertaining.,
Really like the dual thinking approach. Would like to have had a better explanation of some of the stories. Overall a viable tool for anyone wanting to control their own destiny.
