Forced to marry an alpha three times his age after his first heat, Lucien no longer believes in happily ever after. Bound by a marriage of convenience to a distant husband who loves his first spouse, Lucien doesn't expect to ever know true love or attraction.

But Aksel changes everything.

Aksel Cleghorn, his husband's alpha son.

Aksel is the only person in the world who makes Lucien feel like he belongs. Over the years, the connection between them grows into something more. Something they are not supposed to feel for each other. Something neither of them can control or resist.

It's wrong on so many levels.

They have to stop. But can they?

Please note: this book is set on an alien planet similar to contemporary Earth, and the characters don't have human biology [alpha/omega mating cycles, shapeshifter sex, a male with breasts, male lactation, scenting, knotting]. The book contains non-explicit references to past sexual assault and mpreg, codependency, depression, and hurt/comfort—and happily ever after, against all odds.

Lucien: *exists*
Vagrippa: I'm the biggest hater...I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress...

The Wrong Alpha Series is one of my favorite series by Alessandra. For the longest time, Unnatural was my obsession but it's fair to say now that I have more than one obsession.

Forbidden is Lucien and Aksel's story. The "stepfather" and "stepson". Now you would be like Mila what the heck are you reading bestie? What can I say I have been intrigued by Lucien and Aksel since they got caught going at it by Royce and Haydn in Unnatural.😂 The sexual tension between them in the first book was intense af and I loved how obsessed Aksel was with Lucien. There is an age gap and the weird way they are connected to each other. Some people might not like how Lucien and Aksel came to develop feelings for one another but I am not one of them. I always say judge a book for yourself regardless of what other reviews/reviewers may or may not say about a book. Decide for yourself.

In my opinion, Alessandra delivered with Forbidden. The story is self-explanatory. Just look at the title. By all means and societal standards Lucien and Aksel shouldn't be together, their biggest hater is after all Aksel's mother. We don't like her. But let's not waste breath on a hater.

Back to Lucien and Aksel, my babies, my loves. Lucien's story is heartbreaking and my poor sweetheart has been through it. AH gives us so much angst in this book and in all the ways you feel sympathy for Lucien and the trauma he has suffered. Despite it all, one person has always loved him and been in his corner, Aksel. His Alpha🫠.

Aksel has never viewed Lucien as his stepfather. In theory yes but their relationship proves that is not the case. Lucien has always had a soft spot for Aksel and as he turns into a hot Alpha daddy, he can't help but be insanely in love with him through the deep bond they share.

There is so much spice, passion, and angst. They get their HEA and I am happy to see that my baby Lucien finally got the HEA that he deserves.

Cry me a river Vagrippa.

Thank you Alessandra for the ARC, I loved reading Lucien and Aksel's story.

This woman has me on a chokehold and I’ll honestly be happy if she never lets me go. Wow, this was EVERYTHING I wanted from Lucien and Aksel’s story and MORE. How does she do it every time?

This should be super tropey and cringe but I was literally reading this on the train and barely breathing, I was so invested. Moments made me lose my breath, internally scream, cry and made me blush???! If you’re a diehard alessandra hazard fangirl, this one will not steer you wrong.

Alessandra is really drip feeding us her gold. Why is her next book so far away 😭

P.s. A content warning for yall: there is male lactation and obviously Lucien’s trauma.

I don't know how Alessandra Hazard does it, but she gets me every damn time. Forbidden had a chokehold on me last night, and I stayed up until 3 am to finish it. Who needs sleep when a new Hazard book is out??

Trigger warning: References to past rape and sexual abuse and parental abandonment.

Forbidden was a bit... kinky? Different? If I tried to describe some of the stuff that turned me on in this book to a friend, I think even I would blush (and I once described knotting at a PTA meeting!). If you have ever thought you might have a , this is your chance to find out. This book pushes the omega "type" to the limit, so if you are squeamish about mpreg and those types of details, this book won't be for you.

I ADORED the first half of the story, and I didn't want to stop reading. I loved the utter possessiveness of both of the MCs and how their relationship evolved over time. It was one of those romance books where the MCs are obsessed with each other. That doesn't always work for me, but in paranormal or fantasy romance book... my mind goes "lalalalala" with logic and makes it work.

Where the story lost me a bit was the time jumps and the back and forth in their relationship. I knew it was coming, and it was needed for the story development, but I wish we had a bit less. It was annoying and for sure made me knock my rating down a peg.

However, this book was still KINKY GOODNESS and gave me so many feels. Another cracktastic book by Alessandra Hazard, down the hatch.

What in the man milk did I just read?

At first I was like, what's forbidden about this situation? But the suggestion at 20%? I CACKLED.😂😂😂😂

I should have trusted Alessandra. This is DISGUSTING. Also, really hot. Where can I get more of it? 🙈

💀I'm kidding. Nah, but tell me which other books have this EXACT scenario and where I can find them. Are they on Amazon? Smashwords? I need to know precisely where they are so I can effectively avoid them👀

Ouuuuuuu these MFs are N. A. S. T. Y.

Not the constant "Oh God!"

Like.....there's no God to be found in what you're doing with your stepson, my good man. No God whatsoever.

And what's with this 'protrusion' business? Just call it what it is. We're all adults here.

'........his large hand massaging the protrusion, probably to stimulate milk production. He must have been starving after days of illness.'

Mhmmm. That's what it is. The starvation.

I hate a dumb MC because....... 'But fuck, the tips of his breasts ached for Aksel’s mouth. That had to mean that he wanted to nurse him, right? What else could it mean?'

Indeed. What else could it mean?

“Do you get slick?”
His eyes wide, Lucien spluttered, “That’s—hardly an appropriate subject of conversation!”
A wry, humorless smile touched Aksel’s lips. “And showing your tits to an alpha and saying that they ache is?”

💀Whack him again for me!

Wanting to marry someone because they look like 'a poor man’s version' of your ex is crazyyyyyyy. So are 20 years of pining, though, so I won't judge.

They have the kind of love that would drive you to the psych ward(excited Leah noises in the background 💀)

I know this review focuses primarily on the sexual aspects of this book but I PROMISE you, this is one of the sweeter, more emotionally tugging romances by AH in a while.

This man literally said he'd rather not have kids with anyone else because he'd never be able to love them as they deserved because they're not a part of the other MC.

That 'I'd rather die than live without you' kind of love. Unhealthy AH codependency. The works.

The man milk is a happy bonus.

So I've seen people say this is AH's most romantic book yet and just....did I read a different book or something? This is a book that has:

- the characters meet because one of them was g*ng r*ped at 14 by 12 soldiers
- the 14 year old then becomes the stepdad of the 4 year old??
- stepdad then helps raise the kid and also breastfeeds him when the younger one is 17 because he's ill???
- have a secret affair when they're both adults
-
- any character that isn't either mc is a plot device and that's it

idk this just did not work for me
I guess they had sexual chemistry but I did not see the romantic chemistry at all. All the time jumps and the little amount of time we had with them just meant the relationship and their story felt a little flat. This is genuinely one of my least fave AH books but I don't doubt there'll be people out there who love it because it's 'taboo' or a 'dark romance'.

This series is like a sexy Jane Austen’s societal norms novel, on a futuristic alien planet with more than one moon? where some of its inhabitants can turn into monsters, and some of their men can bear children and everyone can smell emotions. Also, angst. Lovely, lovely angst.

I have been waiting for this story ever since the first book; the MCs dynamic, personality and the little backstory we were introduced to was very intriguing and finally we get to know more!!! It was everything I wanted and more 🧡 maybe too much at times? but that’s only in relation to some kinks I wouldn’t be interested in reading about if it weren’t for the lovely Lucien and his darling Aksel finding their happy ever after, they were precious and heartbreaking and their story was too damn short and needed more details.

Content warning: alpha/omega, mpreg, lactation, stepson, 10years age gap, the use of words like ‘tits, cunt’ *shudder*

Ask for trigger warnings. but if you’ve read book one, then you already know what it entails.

“Have you fucked my little brother yet?”

3 breastmilk saves the day stars! Fun, mildly forbidden, and possessive

I've been waiting for Lucien's happy ever after since reading Unnatural. Getting a brief background story (via childhood scenes) for Aksel and Lucien was nice, although I really can't stand being in a five-year-old's head while they have adultlike conversations. Aksel is 4 and Lucien is 14 when he's brought into the house and pack, a charitable marriage for his protection (and because adoption wasn't a legal option.) Aksel and Lucien grew up like pack and siblings, snuggling, scent-marking, etc.

If you're looking for true taboo, oh my god - that is his stepson vibes, this is really not it. It's in name only, and despite the author's best efforts to bring that up during sex scenes, they weren't raised that way, so it's a moot point.

Part I and Part II cover early childhood through Aksel turning 18.

Part III and Part IV is where AH's style of drama, jealousy, gossip, family interference, and possessive behavior all comes into play. It's entertaining, it could have gone on longer for their not together period of time.

Overall, reviews are almost pointless because if you're a mega AH fan you'll love it, if you love the series you'll love it, and if you're neither of those - this is book 5 in a series that needs to be read in order anyway.

There's some lactation kink, breastfeed him so he won't die scenes, erotic but coupled with Lucien's general body dysphoria and self-loathing, it's brief and less kinky than I was expecting. To be fair, I just finished a separate lactation milkie book.

Partially shifted sex scenes during Aksel's Xeus full moon rut. Great, but again, too brief.

The only WTF, no you did not just go there scene was a bit of a surprise. Lucien tells Aksel he's just like the rapists who gangbanged him when he was 14 and were the catalyst for the upheaval of his life. Don't worry, it gets resolved, waves hand, he didn't really mean it.  👀

This is what was said:
“Don’t,” he said sharply, getting to his feet. “Stop being so pushy! All you do is push me! You’re no better than the assholes who raped me and ruined my life!”

Feeling sick to his stomach from the bullshit coming out of his mouth, Lucien forced himself to continue. “They also didn’t take no for an answer and used my biology against me. Just because I physically liked being fucked during my first heat doesn’t mean I didn’t feel shitty and gross afterward. It’s the same with you. Exactly the same.” Just kidding!

Highlights:

When Aksel wasn’t around, Lucien felt like the loneliness would swallow him whole.

“Well?” Lucien said with a small laugh. “Dinner is served, sir.”

The act might be innocent, but it was getting inappropriate, considering that Aksel no longer needed it and was way too old to be breastfed. What's the cutoff age in this universe? 14? 😆

“That doesn’t matter,” Aksel said, his jaw setting into a hard line. “I never saw you as a parental figure. My parents raised me. Not you.” See? No stepfather/stepson vibes, I promise!

He’d just allowed the son of his late husband to come all over his breasts. 🙄

There was a part of him that wanted this to hurt Lucien. If this hurt him, it would mean Lucien cared. It would mean he’d lied, or at least hadn’t been entirely truthful when he’d accused Aksel of being no better than his rapists.

“Does this make you feel dirty and disgusting?” he said, grinding his clothed cock between Lucien’s legs. “Wanting your stepson’s cock in you? It should. I can smell how sloppy your cunt already is.”

“The feeling is mutual,” Aksel said, wishing it were true. But it wasn’t. And it made him even more cruel. “Now beg. Or I’ll go stick it into your brother’s—”

Anyway, tags and stuff:
Alpha/omega pairing, forbidden relationship, hidden relationship, partially shifted sex, lactation, breastfeeding, jealousy, self-loathing, body dysphoria, past sexual assault (off-page), past miscarriage (off-page), parental abandonment, scent-marking, brief suicidal ideation, depression, nasty mean mother, 8 years spent apart, suppressants, fertility issues from long-term suppressant usage, social pariah, forced breastfeeding (when 15, for a newborn), age-gap (9 yrs), knotting, rough sex, fucked unconscious, low self-worth.

Alessandra Hazard’s Forbidden is the 5th book of the Wrong Alpha series- but let me tell you there is nothing wrong with Aksel 😃 We already met the main characters - Aksel and Lucian in the previous books, I personally was super curious about their story, I was sure their romance will be fabulous and I wasn’t mistaken.

Omegaverse
Dual pov
Hurt/comfort
Size difference
Jealously
Possessiveness - neediness
Protective MC
High heat
Male lactation
Knotting
Scenting
Sexy beast
Beautiful HEA

Aksel was devoted to Lucien from the very beginning and did everything to make him happy and content. Lucien had a rough past and and was lost and hurt, his only archer was Aksel after the tragical events, his home.

“Mine, his heart sang, unable to accept all the reasons why Aksel could never really be his. My Aksel. My alpha.”

Their love to each other is tender and sure, still they have to fight hard to get their happy end.

“He knew it wasn’t going to be easy. But he also knew they would weather any storm together. They already had—and they would again. Always.”

Beautiful book, highly recommended.

I’ve received an ARC copy by the Author in exchange of a honest review.

edit 10/15/24: literally just came here to reread the lactation scenes🥵🥵

original 7/12/24: every star for the lactation scenes my god😍😍 and also for how they had literally no control every time they were around each other🤤

no stars for the things lucien said to push aksel away…borderline unforgivable😭

oh no we can’t bc “my husband’s son” this “my husband’s son” that🙄 he was your husband in name only and you never considered him your husband like ??? just fuck him already pls🤣🤣 him being aksel of course….step son trope but barely…didn’t even feel taboo really🥲

also the miracle baby after being told ur basically 99% infertile for YEARS🙄 i get the magical fiction hea but like is there no such thing as adoption here??? would’ve been way cooler if they just adopted like 5 kids and had their big family….idk i find it fucking annoying when infertility struggles are solved with a miracle baby🙄🙄

it’s classic AH tho and i really hope there’s more to come in this series!!!

This doesn't necessarily deliver on a "forbidden" romance, but it's such an easy and fun read for when you're in the mood for an omegaverse romance-just like the other books in the series-so I'm gonna bump it up a star on my re-read. I can't wait to see what couple will be next for book #6 :)

Ok... I've gathered my thoughts
Let's get into it .

This had the makings of a classic AH book that we all love: Sex, clinginess, codependency, angst, incomprehensible reasons why the two MCs shouldn't be together and so on and so forth.

Past me would have eaten this up with a spoon.
However, present me is still pissed the fuck off from AH for her nasty AF islamophobic arabphobic book and so I was less than charitable when I started reading this book.

Thinking back, her books have always had a low-key vibe of white supremacy where darker skinned MCs are always described as savage and beastly and all that while white skinned MCs are delicate and sophisticated.

At the time, I honestly didn't take AH's books too seriously because they aren't supposed to. However, I've come to realize that no matter how *silly* or *OTT* or *superficial* the plot is, those "subliminal messages" are harmful. I'm much more aware of what I read now, even if it's just *for fun*.

Now back to the book.

Was it what you'd come to expect from an AH book? Sure.

But there were elements that just didn't make sense and frankly gave me the ick.

1. The fact that a 5 year old alpha basically imprints on a 15 year old omega and proceeds to treat him like a glorified plushie with all the cuddling and spooning and all that.

2. Lucien's body dysmorphia was used as a plot device for Aksel's *kinks*

3. Lucien's gang-rape was mentioned time and time again for no reason other than for him to use it as a way to put himself down.

4. The way his chest was described: protrusions, tits, breasts...

5. The male lactation and the fact that he was forced to breastfeed Vagrippa's baby months after having a miscarriage

6. I'm all for oral fixation but Aksel drinking milk from Lucien to *get better* was simply gross, inappropriate and just plain wrong.

7. Too many time jumps that took away from the relationship. We had more time of them together being child and teenager than them being adults.

8. Lucien's dad and his bro... yuck

9. Why have an omegverse book with Zues alphas who are described as beastly and unhinged only to have the sex scenes brief and barely descriptive? I feel robbed.

And then when they're FINALLY together, we get an epilogue years into the future with everything happening off page.

WTF. 😭

I hated this book.

Of course I finished this in a single sitting. OF COURSE.

Alessandra, the way you make us readers go feral (pun intended!): I swear her writing is literally crack in book form.
"Forbidden" was exactly what I was hoping for; actually, scratch that, it was even better than my wildest expectations. I've been waiting for Aksel and Lucien's story since "Unnatural" and wow, I'm not sure how to rate these books anymore. "Unnatural" and "Feral" were my favourites, but this fifth installment might just reach the top of the podium. Or, maybe, they'll all have to share the first place: I don't make the rules, sorry.
Anyway, I loved this book to bits: it's angsty, packed with pining and "I love you but we can never be together" feels, but also wonderfully romantic too; that surprised me, since Aksel and Lucien's relationship is anything but simple, and it quite also might be the most codependent relationship AH has written (I love that she keeps raising the bar in everyone of her latest releases LOL), but it's also so damn gentle and respectful and loving and sweet. Obviously, they're both possessive as hell, okay? And there's a whole lot of "I need to leave you for your own good, so I'll break both of our damn hearts in the process" (and yeah, the forbidden-ish aspect of the story is very much there!), but I felt like their relationship was fairly balanced out, and I adored how whipped both of them were for the other. Aksel wants to give Lucien the world, and Lucien's literally soooooo soft and indulgent with him: I seriously swooned for half of the book.

Also, this book is packed with steam. PACKED with delicious, toe-curling, where's-my-fan, steam: lactation kink (I NEED THE RECS!!!!!!!), half-shifted shenanigans, lots and lots of "we shouldn't but we will because we're mates and I can't resist you" steam. I loved every single minute of it.

The Haydn/Royce crumbs made me want to do a re-read of their book, and while I'm at it I might as well re-read the whole series. Whoops.
I need my AH fix ASAP.
I'm very curious to see who the next story will be about (I have my suspicious, but we'll see!!), but yeah, in the meantime... re-read o'clock it is.

TWs/CWs: gang-rape (in the past, mentioned but not described in detail), victim-blaming, body dysmorphia and self-hate directed to one's body, talks of pregnancy and fertility issues.

There was maybe a tad too much … "we shouldn’t, we shouldn’t, but we will anyway" here.
But as usual, the writing is entertaining, the characters go through a range of feelings and I enjoyed this ‘forbidden’ romance, even if some plot developments are questionable.

While, of course, it was gratifying to see omega Lucien get his HEA with much younger alpha Aksel (loved the dynamic of that!), I really don’t believe that ‘love conquers all’ and doubt that these two will remain unaffected by society shunning them, in the long run.

Still, a good, easy read.

Tropes: age gap, forbidden romance, alpha/omega, hurt/comfort, pining, miscommunication
Feels: 4.5/5
Steam*: 4/5
Kinks: knotting, omegaverse stuff, lactation, sex in risky places, mpreg
Angst: high
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content warnings: gang rape when underage, miscarriage, thrown out of parents house, loss of fertility, pining, one character growing cobwebs, third act breakup

Ahh... I knew this book was going to make me feel sad, knowing Lucien's backstory but everything else that came after it was so sad too. He just couldn't catch a break. I cried a lot reading this. Did I really enjoy it? I don't love being sad so no. Am I going to read it again? No. But it probably deserves the five stars for all the feels.

When Lucien (an Omega) was 14, his first heat hit him all of a sudden when he was out and soldiers stumbled upon him and gang raped him. He got pregnant. His family threw him out because he was ruined in their eyes. It created a huge public scandal. He miscarried. A friend of his father's took him as his second spouse because he couldn't adopt him and it was the most expedient way to offer some protection to him. Aksel was the four-year-old son of the alpha that married Lucien. The marriage was in name only. From the very beginning, Aksel was drawn to Lucien and they were both protective and affectionate of each other. Aksel was the only Alpha Lucien could tolerate. At first, Aksel's love for Lucien was platonic and innocent, but as he grew older, it became sexual and deeper. Lucien accidentally forgets a few suppressants and starts going into a heat when Aksel is 18 and that triggers Aksel going into rut for the first time. They almost have sex but Aksel's brother interrupts and pulls him away.

Aksel is sent away to serve in the army, to keep him away from Lucien. Aksel fucks around but no Omega can make him forget Lucien. Finally after 8 years away, he comes home because the war has ended. Lucien has been on suppressants the whole time and hasn't had a sex drive, so he's been growing cobwebs, he never had sex after being raped. With them interacting upon his return, feelings they've been suppressing come out and they end up in a sexual relationship that lasts months. But then Lucien realizes he's likely infertile and his feelings of not being enough strike him and he's pressured to stay away from Aksel. Lucien dumps Aksel in a way that breaks both of their hearts and they spend a year apart. And then Aksel's mom starts looking to marry him off to an Omega and that stirs up jealousy and angst.

This book was full of emotion. They had a platonic love ever since they met at 4 and 14. It wasn't really icky from an underage perspective because Lucien never had any sexual feelings until Aksel was already 18 and it was Aksel's own feelings that triggered something in him that Lucien couldn't even understand. It was sweet how much comfort they found in each other and how Aksel was so possessive and protective of Lucien, how they clung to each other emotionally. When sex was added to their relationship, they were so caught up in each other, there was such chemistry between them and love.

I felt so bad for Lucien. He deserved better than what he got. Ugh. He was gang raped, impregnated and miscarried, thrown out of his home and publicly ridiculed all his life, he never had sex (until he was 37 with Aksel) and basically grew cobwebs while Aksel fucked around, he can't marry Aksel, Aksel's mother has triggered all of his insecurities, and he's also lost his fertility. And then Aksel gets engaged to Lucien's much younger fertile brother. Poor Lucien, I wish he had had more happiness of some sort earlier. It would have been better if Royce had not separated them when Aksel was 18, the time apart didn't either of them any good except making society accept them because their relationship ended up only happening when Aksel was much older.

Aksel loved Lucien so fiercely and consistently. They had such a strong love.

Some notable moments:

Kid Aksel growly. "Aksel breathed it in greedily, rubbing his face against the scent gland on the boy’s slim neck. He was only vaguely aware of the low sound coming from somewhere until Lucien suddenly chuckled. “Are you growling?” he said. Blinking, Aksel lifted his head and looked him in the face. “I’m an alpha,” he said, puffing up his chest. “I’m comforting you. You’re an omega of our pack. Alphas take care of omegas.”"

"His body literally trembled with the urge to touch Aksel: grab his strong hand, rub his cheek against Aksel’s bicep or crawl into his lap and bury his face in his neck. And scent him. And cling. And scent him. And bite his neck. And cling."

"“You’re trembling,” Aksel said, studying him carefully. “From revulsion,” Lucien said, lifting his chin. “Revulsion,” Aksel repeated before inhaling the sweet, intoxicating scent drifting from the omega. “That’s not what revulsion smells like.” Lucien flushed. “It’s just a physiological reaction to an alpha—any alpha. You’re not special. I’d get wet for any alpha with a hard—” Growling, Aksel shoved him against the wall. “Any alpha?”"

"“Let me decide what I deserve,” Aksel said, glowering at him. They stopped dancing completely. “And I’m done tolerating insults toward you—that includes you, Lucien. Enough. You’re not washed-up, you’re not old or ruined. I don’t give a fuck if we never have kids. I don’t give a fuck if some toxic assholes stop associating with me over the choice of my mate. As you saw yourself, the acceptance of people you don’t respect means very little. You’re enough for me. More than enough.” He cradled Lucien’s face in his hands. “You’re all I want. All I see is you. If the rest of the world disappeared, I wouldn’t give a damn, as long as I have you.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

1.5 stars. I think the chokehold Alessandra Hazard has on us is finally over with this latest terrible instalment in her Wrong Alpha series. I mean, she was on thin ice with her last book, but it's well and truly broken now. You can definitely tell that this book was a struggle for the author to write, her heart was just not in it AT ALL, it's just completely lifeless and wooden. I do not understand the high average rating.

The premise is that a very young omega, Lucien, who has suffered a terrible assault, is kicked out of his pack and is married into another pack as a second spouse in order to save him. The marriage is a sham, but he does develop a very close bond with Aksel, his husband's youngest alpha son. You can fill in the rest. The plot was predictable and boring. There are time jumps that are super disjointed, interactions that feel so forced, chemistry that was so lacking. It definitely had a tell more than show feel to it.

It's just not a good book. And if you are going to write a bad, lacklustre book but with dirty omegaverse sex, then at least give us that. But honestly, there was not much smut either, what few bits and pieces there were felt super rushed and dispassionate.

I am highly disappointed with this one. Not sure it I can stay invested in this series.

Alessandra - the old, pre-Dubai fiasco Alessandra - is back!

This is the book I've been waiting for for the entire length of this series - Lucien's book. And goddamn, it didn't disappoint.

An interesting, pretty amazing love story with a kink I love

"“Don’t stop,” he gasped out, pulling him back to his breast. Part of him was mortified by his wanton behavior, but it was a small, distant part. His body overruled it, craving to feel Aksel’s hot, perfect mouth on his aching teats. Groaning, Aksel resumed sucking, alternating between his nipples, and then his large hands pushed them close so that he could take both into his mouth at the same time."

and I'm giving this wonderful story a strong 4.25⭐, but I can't round it up because of one thing that completely threw me off near the end, but don't worry, the book is very much worth reading.

🟡 Alpha / Omega (ostracized, raped, sullied, cast aside)
🟣 Stepfather/stepson
🟢 Age gap - 10 years (Omega is older)
🔵 A substantial size difference
🟡 Childhood friends to almost kind of lovers to then amazing lovers to strangers to mates and husbands
🟢 A sweet love story, but the society is very "misogynistic" when it comes to Omegas, so a very frowned upon relationship, a long and hard road to get there
❗ Rape, strong hormonal suppressants - consequential infertility, solitary, exclusion from society, bullying, forced asexuality (somewhat)
🌶️ Good smut, I loved it; nipple and teat sucking (alpha loves omega's tits, omega hates his body's plumpness overall), blowjobs, penetration, sex in beast-form; t/b

I loved this story. Lucien finally got his happy ending and his path to get there took him what, almost 37 years? My god, I can tell you I wept for this man - and this almost never happens.
The shit this guy had to go through. Being raped and kicked out of the house at 14, pregnant and without anyone to go to, Lucien finally gets rescued by old Alpha Cleghorn, gets fake married and comes to live to Cleghorn house where the only person not judging him is his step-son Aksel, the 4 year old Xeus Alpha.

Xeus Alphas are a different breed, they're very beastly, instinctual, they don't have to wait until puberty to really present, most of the people around them know they're Alpha already when these guys are kids. They're strong, powerful and when they shift into their beast-form they're quite scary.

"And, to his shame and bewilderment, Lucien found the idea of being taken by Aksel in his monstrous form far from unappealing. He wouldn’t mind it. He really, really wouldn’t mind it."

So Aksel imprints on Lucien as a kid without knowing it and they have a really close and co-dependent relationship with Lucien for the next 14 years of their lives. I loved their relationship, it was very up close and personal and we found out later on how others in the house perceived them - the whole family basically knew Aksel loved Lucien, it was clear, just not to Lucien, because not only was the guy traumatised, but also on heavy suppressants, so he hardly ever thought of himself as a sexual being.

"Watching Lucien was one of his favorite things in the world. Lucien was just so pretty. Like a picture. When he slept, his face became even lovelier. He looked like an angel when he slept. His angel. His."

When they almost have sex, Aksel gets sent away to the military for the next 7-8 years and they meet again when they're 25 and 35 years old. They're friends again, but this time they also become lovers.

“I intended to stay away from you,” Aksel said, nuzzling his scent gland. “I really did. But I can’t. You’re what I came back to.”
“Don’t be silly. You came back to your home.”
“Yes,” Aksel said, his arms tightening around Lucien. “I came back to my home.”

Sadly, it doesn't last long because there are too many people trying to pull them apart it seems, especially that wretched mother who didn't get any kind of consequences at the end, sadly, but it was also Lucien, who literally loathed himself, couldn't see himself as being happy and was too soft and agreeable to really go for what he wanted.

From around 70% of the book forward is where I'm taking down one star, because that shit with them not talking for about a year and Lucien casting Aksel aside as he did, didn't sit right with me, but what really did it was Lucien's half brother being a runner up for Aksel's potential husband. Man, I couldn't believe my eyes. Would Aksel do something like that to Lucien? Wow, amazing. What an ass.

"It would pass. It would get easier after taking a mate. It had to. He needed to move on from Lucien, to cure himself of his unhealthy, unrequited fixation. He had to. Twenty years of pining after a man who didn’t want him was more than enough. Dylan Deveraux would do."

Yeah, Aksel wanted to be cruel and really hurt Lucien and I can't imagine what the hell was this guy thinking - that he'll bring Lucien's brother to the house, have sex with him and play happy house while Lucien was going to listen and watch them?
What about the epic betrayal here? I was speechless. Lucien's brother is from a family that cast Lucien aside and still wanted nothing to do with him. I wished Aksel would fight back more than he did. He just got engaged, just like that. I can't get over it, he was an idiot.

Thankfully the situation is resolved rather quickly and they catch what I'd say was the last train before the whole thing really became a shitshow and this guy married Lucien's half brother just to spite him. Again, that wretched mother should've gotten an ass beating, I hated her.

The epilogue takes us 8 years after Lucien and Aksel come out as a couple and they're happy and everything's perfect, but again - 8 years? What about a few paragraphs about what happened right after they announced they were a couple? How Lucien got proposed to? He was most likely the happiest groom around. I really wanted to experience that, because I loved Lucien, he's got my heart. A few more words about their life together would be welcomed.

Overall I loved this book and I'd say it was the best in the series so far, at least for me.

❝ There was still a distant part of him that couldn't believe he was really doing it: allowing the son of his husband to fuck him like this, allowing the man he'd once known as a boy to take him on the ground in his shifter form. It was obscene. ❞

I thought I was going to love it honestly. Still a solid read but definitely weaker. Marketed as a forbidden romance but it didn't really felt like that??? To me at least, Loved the sex though. Also, my 100th book for this year!

This was an absolutely beautiful book!!!

Firts of all where can I got a man like Aksel? Gosh he’s soo good and his adoration for Lucien was EVERYTHING!

We finally have the story of Aksel and Lucien and I can say that the wait was totally worth it! Their story was teased in the previous books and I just wanted to read their happy ending. The book is full of feelings all that possessiveness and intensity of Alessandra’s books was there but I loved the romantic aspect of the story even the steamy parts were absolutely amazing🔥(in Alessandra’s books they are always freaking amazing!!)
In this book we can see how Aksel and Lucien’s relationship started. The story goes from present to past so we are able to understand how they met and how their connection was formed. It was pretty sweet reading about Aksel adoration for Lucien since day one and all the confort and acceptance Lucien found in Aksel. Lucien needed to be cared for after all he went through and I’m soo happy that he found his happiness!
I was a little worried about how the story will go since Lucien is Aksel stepdad and all that (even if it’s just on paper) but I was pleasantly surprised to read that it was not a huge issue at the end.

It was nice to see Royce and Haydn living their happy ending it’s always exciting to read about the other characters!!!
I want to say so much but I think this is enough! I just want to say that I really like the book it was such an easy and enjoyable read! Thank you for another wonderful book Alessandra❤️

The author definitely took inspiration from the boys TV series... If uk what I mean with all that milk stuff...

This was definitely better than expert but it lacked romance. I wanted Lucian to be romanced...After everything luce went through, I wanted to watch him grow confident... To be taken out on dates, doing couple stuff like cooking or smn... Nope what I got was a poorly developed world with horny characters. Like story only took place in lucians room or somewhere on the estate... Ik luce prefers staying home but the author cud have included a scene where they r attending a social event and cud have even thrown some spicy scenes to go with the scenario.

Their internal monolog was tiring to read... All about wanting to jump on each other and hump.

One of my biggest disappointment with their story is lack of kiss scenes... For me kiss scenes are very vital... All epic romances start with an earth shattering kiss scene... But what did I get? Titty sucking and some bearable sex.

I hope Dylan, Anthony and terlain's story have better world development and depth to their characters.

It was good, more than good. It was amazing. Pure, unadulterated heteronormative agenda written well by a hand that has been off her game for a while. I loved every second of the 2 hours spent reading this with all my higher brain functions and critical thinking skills turned off. Alessandra Hazard opened Scrivener mad as hell and it showed.

This is a typical AH book, which means it’s unputdownable, features possessive main characters, and includes steamy sex scenes all in one package. I really enjoyed it in one sitting. I especially liked the chemistry between Aksel and Lucien. Their dynamic is intense and captivating, making every interaction between them sizzle with tension and passion. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a mix of passion, drama, and heartfelt moments.

Funny I wasn’t as invested in the couple and the ❤️‍🔥🥵🍆😏, but more in the overall story, their story (loveeeed the large flashback part), the story of the side characters 👀 and the upcoming storiesss! I must say it was again the writing which hit just right which made me enjoy this immensely regardless. The EMOTIONS 😭✨ I hurt. This just shows that even if the book/synopsis/tropes/couple isn’t your thing, you can never truly go wrong with an Alessandra Hazard novel.

I love Alessandra's books! You can't read one without feeling someone's pain, angst and overwhelming love and need embedded on each and every page. Lucien was married at 14 to a kind man after a painful scandal. But the man's 4 year old child, a Xeus Alpha named Aksel was his true soulmate, the love of his life and forbidden. Aksel possessively loved, wanted and needed him back and imprinted himself all over Lucien. They ignore the scandalous feelings and desires until it blows up in their faces and separate for years. Lucien is so innocent and unaware and Aksel is dominating, obsessive and so Alpha. The need and possession Aksel has always known for Lucien permeates the pages of this book as does Lucien's, a lifelong mate. Romance for the win! This will join her other books I read over and over.

DNF ~43%

I don't recall the other books in this series having the breast/mommy/lactation kink stuff, which is very much not my jam -- the author did warn about the body things, but I didn't expect it to play such a prominent role. I know this series is all about forbidden/illicit relationships, but I found the dynamic here to be incredibly squicky, and that + the kink stuff that also squicked me a bit, I just couldn't get into this.
