An entertaining collection from the author's syndicated column, The Back Forty . This book revisits the fields and woods of The Back Forty , where cows where kickers, kids hate cameras, and a car full of sheep seems almost normal. This is fun reading for anyone with an appetite for humor and a taste for the country. This book will bring chuckles to the most sober individual and shameless laughter for the less inhibited.
Two page short stories taken from Pond's columns in his local newspaper. Topics include comparing farming techniques from years past to now, the art of shearing sheep, & dating.
If you grew up in a farming community, you will understand the humor and will appreciate the book. If not, you may find the book lacking.
Really did not like this book at all. Think the most boring small town newspaper column...you know the one the editor lets his brother-in-law write because his sister pressured him...and you have the quality of this book.
so terrible i couldn't get past page 20....and I tried. just couldn't understand the authors humor, story lines that suddenly changed from one paragraph to another, and inability to write coherently.
