Pugs is a book in Barron's series of Complete Pet Owner's Manuals . The Pug, which originated in China, is a dog that makes an alert, loyal, and obedient household pet. Written especially to introduce inexperienced and prospective pet owners to the pleasures and duties of pet care, Barron's Complete Pet Owner's Manuals also make fine guides to pet care for older children. These heavily illustrated books are filled with helpful information on purchasing, housing, feeding, health care--and where applicable, grooming and training pets. Each book is individually written by an expert--a trainer, breeder, veterinarian, or other animal specialist. These manuals cover every popular dog and cat breed, as well as bird varieties, hamsters and other small caged animals, fish varieties for aquarium hobbyists, terrarium pets, and even exotics, such as reptiles, amphibians, and scorpions. All books have 70 or more color photos, and most also have instructive line illustrations.

About the author

Phil Maggitti is a freelance writer and editor who lives in southeastern Pennsylvania with his wife, four cats, two pug dogs, a Boston terrier, and a life-size poster of Bob Marley.

He has written eight books and more than eight hundred articles since quitting his day job in 1982.

Although Mr. Maggitti has written on a variety topics for numerous publications, the majority of his work has explored the points at which the lives of animals and people intersect.

Ah, Pugs! Gotta love 'em! We have a pug puppy at the moment, and she certainly is something special. This is a handy little book, it is also humourous and fun to read. Now if only there were even more photos...
