Costantine (il Drago), Raphael (il Rubacuori), Sebastian (il Saggio), Lucian (il Cavaliere) e Tristan (il guardiano) sono cinque vampiri Templari, cavalieri che, ai tempi delle crociate, hanno perso la fede e, malgrado ciò, hanno continuato a uccidere in nome di Dio.

Il giorno della loro morte, l’Arcangelo Michele scende in terra e li tramuta in vampiri, condannandoli a una vita non vita, lontano dal quel Dio in cui non credevano più. Ora sono sulla terra a scontare la loro pena, nella speranza che alla loro morte potranno finalmente accedere al Paradiso.

Allie è una cacciatrice di fantasmi e una notte viene attaccata da dei rinnegati, ma Costantine e Raphael intervengono salvandole la vita. Da quel giorno tra Allie e i cinque Templari nasce una profonda amicizia.

Malgrado il mio entusiasmo nell’approcciare questa trilogia, ho fatto molta, moltissima fatica a leggere il primo libro, perché, almeno per i primi capitoli, è come se l’autrice desse per scontate molte cose: da eventi accaduti precedentemente alla storia narrata (ciò che ho descritto in apertura), alle “regole” di questa società vampirica. Per mia fortuna non ho desistito, perché una volta riuscita a mettere insieme i pezzi, la storia si è rivelata interessante e coinvolgente.

Qui i vampiri si dividono in Templari, Obyri e Rinnegati. Gli Obyri sono anch’essi templari condannati, ma non cercano alcun riscatto e continuano a rinnegare e sfidare Dio. Se i Templari in questa società vampirica sono in cima alla gerarchia, i Rinnegati sono il fanalino di coda. Inoltre, esistono anche vampire femmine, che fanno parte dell’Ordine della Rosa.

Si tratta di una società molto violenta, in cui tutti i vampiri, per sopravvivere, hanno bisogno di sangue umano, oltre a questo, però, possono risucchiare anche le anime delle loro vittime.

Ecco, questa è una piccola “guida” per approcciare al meglio la lettura di questo primo libro.

Dunque… come dicevo prima, è stato alquanto faticoso leggere la prima parte di questo romanzo: la Lyons, in questo suo libro di debutto, sembra dover prendere dimestichezza con la narrazione. Per fortuna, addentrandosi nella storia, si nota un netto miglioramento nello stile di scrittura.

Unica pecca, ho trovato qualche svista nella traduzione, o molto probabilmente nell’editing: ci sono sviste abbastanza fastidiose, per fortuna poche, una frase strampalata e parole scritte male, ma per il resto è davvero un bel libro, con personaggi intriganti e una storia avvincente. Ve lo consiglio! Buona lettura a tutti!

Actually 3,5 stars!

Basically the story of five Templar Knights turned to vampires and punished by archangel Michael to exist without a soul because of their sins. Sebastian, Constantine, Lucian, Raphael and Tristan have been a close-knit group of Templar knights before their death by fire and stayed together after becoming vampires. To earn redemption in the eyes of God they fight the good fight by protecting mankind from so-called renegades, vampires of the lowest order who kill and torture their victims.
This first book in the series is featuring Sebastian of Rydon and Allison Parker, a ghost hunter in a small town and saved one night by the Templars from becoming dinner to some renegades. She soon becomes part of the group and helps them to track down and destroy an ancient druidic relic called the Daystar which would allow a vampire to walk in daylight and become nearly indestructable. Of course all the other vampires, renegades and the Obyri (another fraction of Templar Knights who aren´t looking for redemption) are interested to get a hold on this object too...
I liked the plot about Templar Knights becoming vampires (at least NOW we know what happened to the poor knights after being burned to death by a greedy and jealous king in 1314) although I found their damnation by archangel Michael a bit confusing I admit. I don´t think they commited more crimes and atrocities than other knights fighting in the Holy Land and for loosing faith it seems to be a really harsh punishment... but for the sake of the storyline let´s pretend they did...
Sebastian is tortured by his past and doesn´t want Allie in his life, he thinks she too good for him but Allie doesn´t give up and finally Sebastian has to admit his feelings - nothing really new in this relationship I haven´t read before. There´s also a mysterious murder series, a kidnapping of the heroine and finally after the hero has defeated the villain in a big fight there´s a happy end in sight for our couple.. or isn´t??
All in all it was an interesting story, the characters were likeable, and the premise of Templar Knight vampires new and exciting. I´m of course reading the next books in the series "The Daystar" and "Tempting Darkness". The author hasn´t finished writing the series till now although she has an announcement on her website that she´s slowly working on the final installment called "Blood Covenant" but I´m not sure there´s a chance to read this book in the near future. Time to be patient I think..

Templars and Vampires and ghosties...oh my
This is the story of Allie and Sebastian. Sebastian is one of the knights Templar, burned at the stake and turned by Archangel Michael into guardians (good vampires) whose duty is to kill renegades (bad vamps)who feel on innocents. If a guardian kills an innocent, he goes directly to hell.

Allie is a bit strange...no really, EVERYBODY thinks she's strange. She gets tangled up in the Templar's world and finds out that real life is even stranger than she thought!

I did enjoy this book (1st in her series) enough to shell out the cash for the next two of the series. I'll add those reviews as I work my way through my to-read pile!

Allison Parker, occhi verdi e capelli rosso fuoco, è una cacciatrice di fantasmi che vive tra i monti della Pennsylvania. Il suo lavoro è per molti definito strano, tanto da essere lei stessa definita “Ally la matta”, ma Allison ama il suo lavoro notturno.

“Lei era il tipo di persona che bazzicava nei cimiteri, in attesa che sorgessero gli spiriti, e infatti dare la caccia ai fantasmi era la professione ideale”.

Ma proprio in una delle sue passeggiate notturne, viene attaccata da alcuni vampiri, che per poco non la uccidono, e grazie al tempestivo arrivo di Costantine e Raphael, due vampiri Templari, la salvano da morte certa.

“Con i capelli rasati cortissimi , tutto vestito di nero, Sebastian aveva l’aria di un killer. Sulla mano destra portava impresso il sigillo dei Cavalieri Templari. Il marchio era costituito da un cerchio, al centro del quale si vedevano due cavalieri in sella alla stessa montatura, e tutto attorno figurava la dicitura in latino SIGILLUM MILITUM CHRISTI DE TEMPLO, ovvero ”.


Sebastian detto il Saggio, insieme con Constantine detto il Drago, Raphael detto il Rubacuori, Lucian di Penwick e Tristan detto il Guardiano sono Vampiri Templari, guerrieri facente parte della Compagnia dei Cavalieri Templari, quando erano ancora tutti in vita. Uccisi perché avevano commesso stragi in e contro il nome di Dio, vengono “salvati” per diventare vampiri, alla ricerca della Daystar, uno mito, una leggenda che può dargli la salvezza e la redenzione.Uno strano legame si instaura tra Allison e Sebastian…..

“quella donna gli faceva uno strano effetto. Ogni volta che l’aveva vicina, cosa che, per quanto possibile, cercava di evitare, era colto da tutti i tipi di fame. Fame del suo corpo, del suo sangue, della promessa di calore che si celava nella sua forza vitale”.


Un legame che in un primo momento respingono, ma il Fato entra in gioco ed entrambi non possono fare a meno di accettarlo. Intanto nella piccola cittadina della Pennsylvania un giro pericoloso sta coinvolgendo giovani donne, maltrattate e uccise, i Templari devono scoprire cosa sta succedendo, venendo coinvolti in battaglie per la sopravvivenza loro e dei loro cari.

Il mio commento
Il sole di mezzanotte è il primo libro di una trilogia, scritto dalla scrittrice Rene Lyons e pubblicata da I Romanzi, Dark Passion, Mondadori. Una storia carina, in molti punti divertente, ho riso sulle battute che la protagonista Allison rivolgeva ai fantomatici Templari, così possenti, con sguardi penetranti che potevano far fuggire a gambe levate donne e uomini. Una visione diversa quella proposta dalla scrittrice di vampiri Templari, che hanno più di seicento anni e che hanno attraversato diverse epoche prime fra tutte le Crociate. Scritto senza una grande ricerca di parole, seppur con piccoli accenni storici, per inserire appunto i Templari, ho apprezzato molto l’umorismo presente nei personaggi, che ha alleggerito molto la lettura, rendendola piacevole e scorrevole.

I quit reading by page 40 because:

* The vampires' names and nicknames were confusing. At the very beginning, the author refers to the vamps by either/or, and I could not keep track of which vamp she was talking about. Is Raphael or Sebastian "The Rogue"? Which one is "Dragon"? And Sebastian has a large dragon tatoo on his arm/shoulder, but he is not the vamp nicknamed "Dragon". With five vampires, this gets very confusing. Argh!

* The vampires are/were Templar Knights (Knights Templar?), a concept which is very unclear to me, even tho I've read bits about it in other books. I don't know if the Knights were real historically, or made up in books. Of course, even if they were historically "real", they were never turned into vampires.

And I was totally lost as to why these Crusaders for Christ and Men of God were cursed/forsaken by the archangel Michael after they died fighting for God. Is an archangel a good angel or a fallen angel? Very confusing. Maybe just my ignorance.

* Hot, sexy, hunky, sword wearing, rock n' roll attitude vamps ... Sebastian drives a Charger (muscle car, I think). One vamp drives a Maserati, another drives a Jag. They all live together in a castle. Hmmm, this is ringing some bells *g*.

* Allison is a human ghost hunter who befriends the vamps in her quest to document ghostly activity. Ok, I'll buy that. But when the vamps sit down to discuss a serious threat from renegade vampires, she's in attendance. Huh?

I'll stop here, but I was also confused about the Daystar. And about a group (?) called Obiya (sp?).

Il sole di mezzanotte è il primo volume della trilogia (anche se ho la vaga impressione che i protagonisti maschili essendo cinque forse avrebbe dovuto avere qualche volume in più ma l'autrice ha cambiato mestiere) dei Vampiri Templari. I volumi sono strettamente collegati ma per il risvolto romantico, ogni volume vede protagonista una coppia diversa.
Le vicende sono raccontate non solo attraverso la coppia protagonista ma anche dai "cattivi" che stavolta sono davvero crudeli e spietati (sinceramente avrei fatto a meno di leggere le loro atrocità).
I 5 sexy vampiri templari fanno pensare ad altre serie ben più famose ma per il fatto che siano antichi guerrieri medievali (Templari) che si ritrovano nel 2005 mi è piaciuta come idea, peccato che non sia stata resa al meglio.
Eppure a tratti è stata anche divertente ma all'inizio ho faticato un po' ad entrare nella storia perché si ha come l'impressioni di essere piombati a metà di un film (E' vero che spiega successivamente tutta la situazione ma si poteva fare in modo diverso).
Essendo il primo di una trilogia, l'autrice presenta anche gli altri vampiri templari, invece di dare loro spazio (che sicuramente avrebbero avuto nel volume a loro dedicato) mi sarei soffermata a spiegare meglio la sua visione di mondo vampiresco e la Daystar.
Il risvolto romantico è tra due personaggi alquanto singolari (peccato che il loro amore si sviluppi troppo repentinamente per i miei gusti): Sebastian di Rydon, il saggio, sexy, coraggioso e forte ed Allison decisa, ironica e con un lavoro singolare: Cacciatrice di fantasmi.
Storia carina e scorrevole ma poteva essere molto più emozionante. Vedremo cosa riserverà il prossimo volume.

Nuova versione dei vampiri come appartenenti all’ordine dei Templari. Sono Constantine il Drago,Raphael il rubacuori,Sebastian di Rydon detto il Saggio,Lucian e Tristan Boumont . Tutti e cinque si trovavano in Francia quando re Filippo aveva ordinato l’arresto di tutti i cavalieri francesi. Rinchiusi a Chinon per tre anni, erano tra i cinquanta cavalieri finiti sul rogo a Parigi. Mentre morivano inceneriti, l’arcangelo Michele scese però a dannarli, prima di rigettarli nel mondo dei viventi, come vampiri perché i Templari avevano perduto la fede eppure avevano continuato ad uccidere in nome di Dio. Per quel questo Michele si era preso le loro anime e aveva negato loro l’accesso al Paradiso. Loro compito in questa strana serie è di trovare la Daystar, la reliquia druidica che ha la capacità di far acquisire ai vampiri la capacità di camminare alla luce del sole e diventare così invisibili. I Templari si ritrovano a Wayne County, tra le montagne della Pennsylvania, dove sei mesi prima hanno avuto la ‘fortuna’ di conoscere Allison Parker detta la Rossa, una cacciatrice di fantasmi. Le hanno salvato la vita quando stava per soccombere a un vampiro e da quel giorno,lei,malgrado sappia esattamente cosa sono,li considera amici e per questo fatto è considerata dalla popolazione una pazza. Ma Allison è innamorata di Sebastian e mentre cercano disperatamente la Daystar scoppierà la passione fra i due. Accanto a questa storia fa da contorno la guerra con gli Obyri, un ordine formato da altri Templari dannati non degni della redenzione per la loro crudeltà e perversione. Ad aggravare le cose, ci si mette anche la scomparsa e l’uccisione brutale di alcune donne da parte di un misterioso vampiro di cui si occupa Lucien.. Allison viene catturata e per salvarla i Templari si daranno da fare parecchio. Anche Lex, la sorella minore di Allison verrà coinvolta suo malgrado nei problemi dei Templari e in particolar in quelli di Constantine(su cui si baserà il prossimo volume). Tanti misteri da risolvere e un finale davvero insolito. Comincio dicendo che la trama è molto particolare. Non avevo visto mai i Templari associati ai vampiri. La Lyons ha una spiccata fantasia che la guida verso una buona direzione. La storia scorre bene,abbastanza coinvolgente e ricca sia d’azione che di sentimento. Allison è forte ,determinata,coraggiosa e lotta per ciò che vuole. Sebastian è un templare,restio ai sentimenti che non credeva di poter ritrovare. Le scene di sesso non mancano,ma non governano nemmeno l’andamento del libro,lasciando maggiormente posto allo svolgimento. Divertenti le magliette che vengono indossante con frasi che spesso strappano un sorriso. Mi ha colpita il finale dove Allison verrà trasformata prima di morire ,e non da Sebastian, come sarebbe stato da copione,ma da Costantine,creando così un legame di sangue non per amore ma per amicizia. Il titolo probabilmente prende origine da una frase che mi ha ricordato lontanamente Midnight sun della Meyer”Il sorriso che fece Allie quando le disse che erano già amici,gli ricordò il sole che non vedeva da centinaia e centinaia di anni. La luce del sole. Perché Allie era questo,un abbagliante sole di mezzanotte che squarciava le tenebre della sua esistenza”. Ambientazione particolareggiata e ben inserita nel contesto moderno,divertente la contrapposizione tra i templari e l’età moderna. Spiccano come una macchia d’inchiostro in mezzo alla neve. Le loro spade,il loro abbigliamento da combattimento,lo spirito guerriero. Gradevole lettura. Tre stelline.

TEMPLAR VAMPIRE SERIES book 1
"Midnight Sun"

Irresistibilmente attratta dall’elemento fantasy e soprannaturale, dal cameratismo e dal senso di fratellanza che lega gruppi, Confraternite e Ordini vari, dal ritorno alla gioia e dal risveglio alla vita grazie all’amore di questi uomini eccezionali (eccezionali più per la loro natura soprannaturale che non per levatura morale o particolari qualità), dal senso di appartenenza, di complicità e di completezza che si instaura con le loro compagne, mi ritrovo quasi tutte le volte conquistata dalle saghe paranormal romance. Non tutte sono convincenti e non tutte hanno la stessa capacità di emozionarmi e coinvolgermi, e alcune mi deludono ineluttabilmente a ogni nuovo capitolo, eppure mi ritrovo comunque sempre a goderne la lettura, ad attendere i seguiti e a cercarne di nuove.

La Templar Vampire Series non è forse tra le più brillanti, emozionanti e meglio costruite, ma l’ho trovata gradevole e originale, forse più per il ruolo e l’interazione con gli altri personaggi della protagonista femminile che non per le personalità di quelli maschili (che tendono in parte a ricalcare quelle stereotipate del bello, del dannato, del responsabile, del coscienzioso…) o per la storia d’amore, e per l’elemento cristiano davvero particolare. Invece di coinvolgere angeli, demoni e affini infatti, la Lyons fa trasformare in vampiri dall’Arcangelo Michele, per punizione e forse possibile espiazione, un gruppo di Templari, colpevoli di aver agito in nome di Dio, ma senza fede, nelle guerre Crociate. La teologia proposta è davvero poco misericordiosa e ha il sapore della severità e della giustizia implacabile veterotestamentarie, ma aspetto di leggere i prossimi libri per scoprire il vero piano di Dio su questi malcapitati…

Al di là di queste disquisizioni, ciò che alla fine conta è che ho letto, anzi divorato in un sol giorno, e davvero volentieri, questo primo capitolo e sono curiosa di leggere il prossimo della saga su Constantine e Lexine!

Il vampiro non è più solo

Tra le tante serie incentrate su vampiri e tenebre varie, questo primo episodio dei Vampiri Templari mi ha colpito per originalità e freschezza.

Dapprima l'idea di questi cinque sexy guerrieri medioevali, vestiti di pelle e con bandoliera e spada al fianco mi hanno fatto temere l'effetto Confraternita. Invece no, Tristan e i suoi compagni sono guerrieri immortali ma tormentati, con una loro personalità e un certo fascino.
Mi è piaciuta l'ambientazione, il ritmo veloce, l'idea che ci sia una precisa ricerca, anche se non tutto viene svelato.
Soprattutto, una volta tanto i cattivi sono davvero cattivi (Stephen, crudele e perverso quanto bello, è davvero più credibile di certi ombre pallide che, ad esempio, la Ward mette come antagonisti ai suoi guerrieri. C'è spazio per l'amore e un po' di passione, ma senza volgarità.

E c'è un finale aperto, che invoglia a proseguire la lettura..

I thought this book was pretty good actually. After reading some of the reviews and seeing the average rating it received I really didn't expect too much from it. I can say I enjoyed the characters and felt the story flowed well throughout. There were some holes in the love story but they can be overlooked as a whole in the story. Like I couldn't understand why Allie was so in love and devoted to sebastian when he ignored her for so long and they had such a short time together as a couple before there was so much danger. I don't want to give away too much of the book so I'll leave out specifics but I felt these two needed more backstory time before allie should be willing to sacrafice everything for Sebastian. Overall, I liked this book, but I can say I enjoyed the second book much better.

I am donating books to charity and found two from this series. I read them so long ago, I can't even guess what year but think maybe 2007ish. I enjoyed it but of course my taste wasn't a varied as it is now. I remember that I liked the Alpha male lead and the heroine. I liked that that the story was very dark. They mythology was different for me at the time I read it but now the Templar Knights are popping up everywhere. I don't recall if this one was as erotic as the following books of the series so I can't comment on that.

Rene Lyons is a longtime friend of mine, we've known each other so long, and about two years ago, her dream finally came true and she got published... yay, read her books!!! they are knights templar, turned vampire, crossed with romance... lolol... but definitely awesome to say "holy crap they're from a hometown pal..."

Gotta say I really did enjoy this book. It cauight my attention crom the very beginning and I found it EXTREMELY hard to put it down and go to bed. I was up two nights in a row reading it until 3am lol. The ending for me was kinda sad but everything worked out in the end. I'd definitely recommend this for people to read. Looking forward to reading the others :)

Sort of a rip off of BDB but hey, there are no totally original ideas left so it didn't bother me much

I liked the heroine, Allie was headstrong and sure of herself, except with Sebastion and that changed. Her pains from the loss of her brother, and her douche bag ex made her more real.

Sebastion was a typical nommy alpha male, with several friends just as nommy.
