I’ve never read a book about the paranormal before, so the title of this one grabbed me. It looked to me like it was written by someone who has experience in deliverance ministry but who isn’t weird about it. Having read the book, I can confirm that this is the case.
This book is practical without prescribing a set way of conducting deliverance ministry. It is biblical and sensible, while recognising the reality of spiritual warfare. Where many people go wacky on these things, Gardiner is matter-of-fact and explains clearly where his practice can be found in scripture.
Deliverance is a topic much neglected in the church today, probably because of how weird people can get about it. Gardiner presents it as an important ministry of the church, albeit one which should be undertaken with proper training and never alone.
This book is a must read for church leaders especially, but also for any follower of Jesus who is looking for sane, measured guidance on how to interact with the paranormal.
