Needing a break from her mother’s drama, Sara Lynch thought a two-week stay caring for a confidential client would be exactly the getaway she needed. Then she met her billionaire patient, football star Liam Thomas. Despite being easy on the eyes, he’s a monumental pain in the rear. But she’s dealt with far tougher than him and refuses to let some gridiron golden boy rattle her.
For the last year, Liam’s life has consisted of smothering caregivers and the painful recovery from an injury that nearly ended his career. He thought his sister leaving for her honeymoon would finally mean a little alone time—until the nurse she hired shows up to babysit him. Determined to brood in peace, he decides to be as difficult as possible in hopes of making the quick-witted nurse go away.
But when their banter morphs into a growing attraction, the pair finds themselves toying with thoughts of togetherness. Will they play it safe with harmless flirting? Or put their fears aside and risk the heartache that can come from a real connection?
From USA Today Bestselling Author Bree Livingston comes a clean romance to cozy up with in front of a crackling fire!
Obviously, I don't go into this books expecting any great literary achievements. But this book lacks the fun, fake-couple tropes of book #1 and the...well, whatever it was that made me decide book #2 wasn't totally awful.
Nothing in this book hits the right note.
Liam Thomas is a football player/billionaire. How did he achieve billionaire status? "Lucky investments." Right. I am highly doubtful that he's actually a billionaire or a football player. Someone give me the much more interesting story where he's conning the heroine with both. Because this dude's great hang-up is that he doesn't want to play pro-football anymore but doesn't want to tell his sister that so he clings to his wheelchair. Like, my dude. If he actually was a football player (or any professional athlete) contracts and doctors and coaches and other people would be making that decision about if he ever plays again. But let's just yada yada over that...
Then we've got Sara Lynch, a hospice nurse who decides to give herself a break and work for the mysterious man on the cliff. She does zero research on her prospective patient and lands the job by being...sassy? And what is the job you ask? Really, I have no clue, since a huge plot point is that she wasn't hired to cook or pick up dry cleaning. But no one was hired to cook and can we return to the part where he's supposedly a billionaire but doesn't have any staff?
Anyway, Liam doesn't want her around so he decides to really scare off. And he does so by...getting onions on his burger and eating really messily? Asking her to drop off non-existent dry cleaning? I mean, this dude sucks at planning anything. He must seriously have been lucky when he made his money. But the worst part is when it WORKS and she throws a fit because he wants her to make him dinner.
That drama goes on way too long but obviously can't last forever so Sara proceeds to do random things like nearly fall off cliffs. Then Liam fails to do any cool billionaire stuff, like, I don't know, getting her a private hospital room that people can't barge into.
Because * cue drama * Sara's great secret is that her mom is a con-artist! She's conned 5 men! AND * gasp * Sara's ex was abusive and for reasons never explained thinks that if he works with her mom, they'll get money out of Sara. Or Liam? The whole evil plan is super glazed over. But not the evilness of Sara's Mom. Oh no, she'll literally choke her daughter in public and no one will bat an eyelash.
Heck, Liam will witness all this and just whine because he's so helpless.
Multiple plot points get dropped randomly. Liam physically goes shopping (like, at a mall?) with Sara instead of paying someone to design her a dress. Useless billionaire.
This book is excellent. A well written romance about a billionaire football player who gets hurt and the injury is almost career ending and then more things happen in his his life within a years time. I love how this guy is so dog on stubborn and malicious because he doesn't want a nurse and how a romance comes about. Also how his sister helps him out. I just loved this book. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Love it and because it's clean I recommend it very highly to everyone. Some people could learn something from this too. I know what you're probably thinking. How can a romance story teach you something? Well in this book you can learn a lot or a little. That depends on you. But what I picked out of this story is: * Even if you have a Mom or Dad or both and they've treated you terrible most kids will protect their parents before seeing them go to jail. *For every crime someone does there are consequences. In other words, if you do the crime you do the time. *Sometimes a live in nurse will lead to a good romance but not always. * If you plan to keep a secret don't tell anyone and be a good actor. I could go on and on but that would give what the book is about away and what is the fun in that. Please read this book. Bree Livingston is a great author and has become one my favorite authors. Also, this is a 1st edition of this book.
I'm having a tough time with this one. I really wanted to love it but I just didn't. Parts of the story had me rolling my eyes. Some things were so far fetched that I almost put it down. I even asked some book friends their opinion on things that were happening and they agreed. It just wasn't believable.
Liam is made to look like a coward on a few occasions and that didn't sit right with me at all. He's supposed to be the hero. No man would let certain things fly when it comes to a woman they're developing feelings for. That just doesn't happen. At times I felt like the roles were reversed. The heroine was doing things the hero would do and vice versa. It just didn't work for me.
Loved this book. I love that is clean, action packed , easy to read , a page turner and I hated to put the book down. Will read again and it's become one of my favorite books. I highly recommend this book and author.
This was a very entertaining romance. Sara Lynch is a nurse who is just starting her newest case. She's been asked to work with Liam Thomas, a famous football player. Injured during a game, Liam is frustrated at not being able to play and furious with his sister, Kimberly, for hiring Sara to help him. Liam is in a wheelchair and while he insists he can take care of himself, Kimberly isn't convinced. What if he was to fall? What if he couldn't get to a phone to call for help? If for no other reason than her own peace of mind, Kimberly is adamant about Sara staying.
Sara isn't all that thrilled with Liam either. He might be famous but he's also arrogant, cocky, and incredibly rude. Although Sara realizes Liam is trying to drive a wedge between them with his sarcastic remarks and blunt insults, she's worked with difficult clients before and simply refuses to let his barbs bother her. The sooner he understands that she isn't going anywhere, the better off he'll be.
Neither one of them counts on falling in love and Sara never thought her mother would be able to track her down. And she's not alone. She has Sara's ex-boyfriend in tow. Sara knows all too well her mother's reason for showing up. The woman has discovered Liam is her daughter's client and knows he's loaded, which means there's a ton of money coming her way if she plays her cards right.
This book has it all, love, romance, suspense, and a good plot that captured and held my attention from the get go. Definitely recommend!
4 stars I purchased a copy of the full length novel Her Broken Billionaire Boss: A Clean Billionaire Romance book 3 by Bree Livingston and this review is given freely. A rocky sports based romance with a happy ending. Veering away from Tristan and his friend Grayson and the area of finance, this novel involves the somewhat self centered and manipulative injured football star and billionaire , Liam Thomas who rebels against his sister Kim's smothering nature and the emotionally challenged nurse Sara who was hired to help him while Kim goes on her honeymoon. Sparks fly during the two weeks the Colorado mountain lodge when neither Liam nor Sara get what they first expected and Sara deals with the violence of her mother and ex-boyfriend.
2.5 stars While the story was a cute read, there were some really awful things that happened to Sara. I read this in one sitting but it was painful at times. Sara was really sweet and can read people really well, except for those people who are out to do her harm. She throws caution to the wind and finds herself being strangled a few times. Unreal! I mean, wow, really?! I liked Liam okay. He was grumpy and took it out on everyone, not really an attractive quality. But hurt people hurt people. While I'm not excusing his behavior, he does quickly come to terms with what he wants and is relentless at working to achieve it. He is a bit thick at times though. I guess the two of them make the perfect couple. No clue how, but that's fiction for you! HEA, clean read.
This is for sure my least favorite of this book series. There were a few editing errors, but what I really don’t like about it is that he’s a coward. I, as a female, would never stand by and watch someone I don’t even like get hurt by someone else, let alone someone I supposedly love! At least he recognized what a coward he was. However, if you can overlook that, it is a good story, and as always well written. I’d recommend a better editor.
I like some of the author's other books better than this one but it's still worth reading. It's full of swoonworthy kisses and two people being vulnerable and making sacrifices for each other.
This was good with more suspense/thriller scenes than in the others.
Sara's a nurse hired to care for a football player who is injured... actually was injured; he's just faking now. She is fun to read because she doesn't take any of his crap. Her mother is awful and abusive.
Loved the book and loved watching the characters get together. I wish there was more to the epilogue though....more than 1 that shows the couple a few years in the future.
I saw another reviewer say that Liam was the most useless billionaire EVER… and I have to agree! 🤣
I listened to this on audiobook while making deliveries for work (I’m on the road for 2 hours or more every day) and I have to say, it was pretty perfect for that! It wasn’t filled with too many weird details that make it hard to focus on while listening to, the plot wasn’t too slow, and while the book was pretty redundant, it wasn’t too terrible! It made me laugh because it was so bad and cringey!
IF I HAD A DOLLAR FOR EVERY TIME SARA SAID, "BUT HE'S MY CLIENT" I WOULD BE FREAKING RICHHHHHH!!!! We know he's your client! SHUT UP!!! 🤣 UPDATE: I just searched the book (I have it on kindle, too) and she says "client" 32 times!! HAHAHA!
The whole time I just kept thinking "DANG, she’s outta his league!” because she did everything for Liam and all he did was whine, complain, and berate her. HAHA! He kept switching from being mean to Sara to liking her and being nice… he did that like 5 times! For no reason! It was retarded, HEHEHE!
The whole thing about Liam never even needing a wheelchair was just DUMB and the whole billionaire thing was unbelivable (he said after joining the NFL he invested his money wisely and now he’s a billionaire. So unrealistic)!! 🤣
Sara’s mom was annoying as hell (Lauren Ezzo’s audiobook reading made her worse; I didn’t like the way she stretched out every. Damn. Syllable.) and Liam never DID ANYTHING TO HELP SARA’S SITUATION!! He just stood by and did nothing while Sara’s mom and ex-husband beat her and choked her (literally).
Also, at a certain point this book stopped being even remotely interesting because it was just a bunch of random kissing scenes between Liam and Sara.
TLDR: Bad book, but not too bad! I’ll probably listen to more audiobooks from Livingston while I’m making deliveries for work.
I pulled this novel to read Super Bowl Sunday. And it was much better than the slow game between the Rams and Patriots.
Liam Thomas is a pro football player recovering from a hip injury. After a year, he is healed physically, but refuses to give up his wheelchair till he decides if he is going back in the game. His sister who raised him after their parents deaths has been living with him, but she is about to get married and needs to hire a live-in nurse while she is on her honeymoon. Liam is determined to be alone, and fighting all the applicants.
Sara Lynch is a RN who works as a live-in nurse. She was inspired by the nurses who cared for her father. Her father was the only person she felt love from. He died when she was eight, and her mother took her in -- just because her father left money for her care. Sara's mother is a drunk and con artist. She has emotionally abused Sara all her life. Sara also had a boyfriend, who became abusive after winning a $20 million lottery. Sara put a restraining order against him.
Liam has met his match with Sara. She has sassy comebacks for his abuse. She also has a gift of reading what her clients are feeling. Sara gives Liam the space he desires, but remains nearby if he needs her. Liam is attracted to her, but after dating only models doesn't believe in forever love. Yet, he keeps seeing Sara as someone he can't let go.
A sweet romance with Momma drama. Liam has to put a plan in action to win Sara's heart and make her see that she can be loved.
I just love Sara and Liam! Her ability to read situations and her intuition are such wonderful traits for a heroine! I loved the banter that she and Liam have at the beginning of the book.
Sometimes in romances, the main characters don’t really share their feelings and it goes on for far too long. Not so with this story! They were both reluctant to say the “L” word, but they showed each other by their actions (and kisses!).
Her protecting him at any cost was an amazing twist on the damsel-in-distress trope.
This is actually is one of my favorite stories period! (And I devour sweet romances like they are chocolate!)
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
I love many other Bree Livingston books, but this is the most unhealthy and boundary abusing book I’ve ever read in my life. The heroine obviously had no boundaries whatsoever. Not reporting her mom to the police for crimes, kissing someone without a heads up or without consent or an actual relationship and then normalizing it, etc. Not at all my favorite person. Her gentle nature didn’t fool me. In my opinion, she was just a subtle seductress. That’s irritating. Getting engaged a month after meeting. I couldn’t bring myself to appreciate this book at all. Just the worst. I’ve read it 4 times to check if a different opinion will come up, but I just get a cringe vibe always and a strangeness. Not for me. Unhealthy
Sara's mother was paid to take care of Sara at the age of 8 when her father died. Sara also promised her dad that she would provide for her mother. But Sara's mother is an alcoholic who uses people and tries to make Sara go back to her "ex" who is rich. Sara was beaten by him when he was missing $100 and refused to go back. Sara is currently a nurse who now accepts a job to care for Liam, a recovering Billionaire athlete. Sara ignores his grumpy behaviors, and he soon finds out he likes her more than he cares to admit. She fears that if her mother finds out who she is working for, she will use Liam to get money. Good read that keeps you turning the pages hoping for Sara and Liam's HEA.
I have not read anything from this author before and this story has made me a fan from the get-go! I adored the banter, and the way that Sara was so cool and professional to the point that she drove Liam crazy. The situation with her mom was absolutely vile and my frustration and anger soared when they were talking! Goosey was precious and was so sad to see the demise. This was a very, sweet, clean (yay-no f-bomb!) story and I was swept away.
I LOVED this story. It was really sweet and I loved the back and forth banter, especially Sara’s. It wasn’t all lustful where the characters fell for each other because of their perfect body. Yes, they were attracted to each other, but it wasn’t the only reason they fell in love.
I can be nit-picky about books I read. If there are inconsistencies or unrealistic situations, I can’t get over it and will end up hating the book. This was definitely not one of those. I recommend this book and will probably read it again.

The storyline and plot were really good, it was a cute story, but it took me forever to finish and I’m normally finishing books in a day or two days. I just don’t like the way it was written. It feels like it was written by someone who was just starting out, I don’t know how to describe it, but it was written almost like a young adult genre to finish a book faster. I just don’t like the style of her writing emphasis how she writes books, but the story itself was cute.
Romance, sweet, contemporary, sports; series but stand alone read Sara and Liam’s story started out as employee/employer. As they got to know each other, Liam saw Sara’s kind, caring, generous nature, along with her beauty and wit and fell hard and fast. Sara saw Liam for who he was, not for his money. Sweet fall, some villains (including her mom) in Sara’s past haunt them throughout the novel but a HEA at the end was the best. While I gave it a 3 star rating, still a cute read.
Well written story of young billionaire and his nurse hired by his sister

Billionaire falls for his nurse over 3 weeks together in his home. She has had a mother who sponges off her and finds gentlemen who have money and looks for easy money as well as being an alcoholic.

Sara and Liam have such a sweet story. Liam suffered a hip injury a year prior to their meeting. According to doctors he should be healed but he still used a wheelchair. His sister hired Sara to take care of Liam while she was away on her honeymoon. Can two stubborn people find love together? What happens when you throw in a conniving con artist mom and an abusive ex boyfriend?
