This book was so good. I feel sad that not many people know about it. This novel was just what I had been looking for at this time, and it encouraged me greatly in my faith to the Lord. Emily encouraged me to be more open about my faith, and that even new Christians can be a positive example of how we are supposed to live in Christ.
This book was very interesting and moved along quickly. I loved how they went through the multiple generations so that you could see what happened to the family. I also quite enjoyed how Emily succeeded in converting her entire family to the Lord in her lifetime.
Overall, this novel was touching. Whenever there was a death, I felt deeply saddened and shed a tear or two! Especially when Emily and Heath died in the end. I will definitely be looking for more from this author!

I am not good at writing, a little better at reading. I bought this book for my cousin's significant other to give her some insight into the area where I live. I am a native New Englander and became a Virginian through marriage. I think this book depicts the culture of this area beautifully. My late husband was a native and truly loved this area. He was very good at showing me around and telling me stories that he knew for over forty years. Our courtship started with rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway and this story incorporates the area stories to perfection, in my opinion.
