Working for the strange and reserved jewelry maker Hugo Kauffman pays well, and for that, she’s willing to overlook his eccentricities. But when Lydia finds a black, velvet choker in a box she’s been forbidden from opening, her life is changed forever, and she finds herself suddenly bound to the strange and eccentric old man who runs the household. Will the introduction and interest of the new, young portrait painter save her from her plight?

Selena Kitt is a NEW YORK TIMES bestselling and award-winning author of erotic and romance fiction. She is one of the highest selling erotic writers in the business with over two million books sold!
Her writing embodies everything from the spicy to the scandalous, but watch out-this kitty also has sharp claws and her stories often include intriguing edges and twists that take readers to new, thought-provoking depths.
Her books EcoErotica (2009), The Real Mother Goose (2010) and Heidi and the Kaiser (2011) were all Epic Award Finalists. Her only gay male romance, Second Chance, won the Epic Award in Erotica in 2011. Her story, Connections, was one of the runners-up for the 2006 Rauxa Prize, given annually to an erotic short story of “exceptional literary quality.”
This is another dark material from Ms. Kitt. The stories are all more or less horror ones with death in every single one. It's drastically different than some of the other lighthearted and relationship driven stories Ms. Kitt writes. I'm mixed about it. From a writing perspective it was okay. I enjoyed this still because I liked the darkness.
From an erotic standpoint, there is none. I didn't find anything arousing, even mildly. This collection actually reminds me of Poe a bit. The writing is not as tight, but it's the same feel. This is perhaps why I am rating it a 3 star.
Great balance of kind of creepy and odd stories and really raunchy sex. DO NOT read this if you are easily offended by graphic sex. It is what it is. The stories were good and while some were predictable, they were not tedious or boring. I found myself intentionally slowing down toward the end of the book in order to prolong it. I did not want them to end. The Pumpkin Patch story creeped me out especially for some reason. But so did a couple of the other ones. Excellent stories and a very quick read. Took me about 24 hours from start to finish but that was reading only while I was at work and not the whole time. Sometimes I do have to work....sigh. At any rate, very enjoyable.
This anthology is amazing! While most every story has an element of sex in it, the stories themselves are not about the sex. This series of stories is all about horror. This is a great read for a dark and stormy night or around Halloween, but it touches on several other holidays as well so for those who like scary stories you can read this all year round. I had to make myself stop reading the first night (or else I would have been up all night) so I could go to work the next day and could not wait to get home to start reading again!
