I'm not a new witch. I've got a decent library of books on Paganism and Witchcraft. But like many things in life the depth of my practice is a bit cyclical. Mostly, it's just a way of life. I thought this was a great book overall. Much of the info I've seen elsewhere, and of that I'd have to say it was very well explained and should be easy-peasy for a budding practitioner to grasp. What made me decide that I will buy a copy of this book for my library (I read the Kindle edition) is the fantastic explaination of planetary hours and how to calculate them for your spellcraft. This is honestly the most easy to grasp explaination I've come across in my 30+ years of practice, and it's not long-winded! Just fantastic 😁
Second time re- reading this. I found the book sitting in a pile of books in one of my crates. I'm a pretty new witch. I started getting into witchcraft a month or two ago, and trying to learn as much as I can :)
This was a Christmas gift and I breezed through this book in about a day and a half. I thought this was going to be more in depth from the description, turned out to be a bit of a 'beginners' book. Having said that, I still found it very interesting. The author is fantastic at making spellcraft easy to understand, no riddles. Also, I love that there's an 'herbal dictionary' in the back, even if it is small and lacking a lot of very useful herbs. It's a nice addition to anyone's bookshelf.
I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in the basics (and a little more than just basics) and those interested in the most positive workings of 'spellcraft'. It's well written, very clear and concise. There's absolutely no confusion; every thing is 'spelled' out for you. See what I did there? Eh? >.>
This is one of those books that you read through once, leaving sticky tabs everywhere along the way, and then come back to revisit again and again in the future. Or maybe that's just how I roll. I've had my copy since it hit the shelves in 2005 and it gets a lot of use. You'd think I would have all the stuff memorized, or that I would have gotten everything out of this volume that there was to extract... Reading this book broke me of my habit of buying those awful cookbook-ish spellbooks that are so ubiquitous to bookstores' New Age sections and metaphysical shops. This book is solid, and it will walk you through the process of planning, designing and casting your own spells and making your own magic. Invaluable.
I love this book. It opens you up to the power you currently have flowing through you and how to direct the enegry. It is not based on a certain belief system. It is a must have for anyone who wish to practice the craft.
just switched this to read from currently reading because I have read it many times and am always going back to it, guess it is a constantly reading book for me.
This book has quite a few little gems in it and I recommend people at least browse through it to help aid their own spellcrafting. I will add much of what I learned to my own religion.
