Farah Noor was a Kenyan immigrant living in Ireland and working as a fisherman. He had a history of heavy drinking and violence towards women. Kathleen Mulhall left her husband for Mr. Noor, a serious error in judgment. After a day of drinking with Farah and her daughters, Linda and Charlotte, the foursome crashed at Kathleen’s flat and popped some ecstasy. The Kenyan got frisky with Linda and Charlotte rescued her sister by stabbing the drunken fisherman in the neck with a Stanley carpet cutter. Linda smacked him repeatedly on the head with a hammer for good measure. The sisters dismembered the body over the course of the next five hours with the carpet cutter, a bread knife, and the hammer. A small bathroom was a sea of blood. They dumped the body parts in a nearby canal, except for the head, which was buried at a park. His penis was also sliced off and went missing. DNA was matched to his son from an ex-girlfriend. She had also been beaten like a red headed step child. Apparently, Ireland has its’ own version of our trailer trash; just substitute Paddy and Molly for Billy Bob and Ellie May. Denial was the first response form the lassies, but eventually the gardai wore them down. The trial was not all that interesting and I will leave it for the reader to discover. Overall, The Torso in the Canal is a only a fair read.
