TIME TRAVEL An archaeological dig at Stonehenge turns into a nightmare for young Jack Shire when he is blasted into a terrifying prehistoric world, simultaneously unveiling a deadly, 21st century secret. Communicating across millenniums he and girlfriend Tori Morris, must battle with sinister forces to uncover a megalomaniac's plot to control the world with stolen time travel technology.
I love time travel so I tend to pick up almost anything dealing with the subject. I thought this was a good time travel adventure at times but there were times that I got a little bored. The characters were good and strong but I didn't expect them to be so young. Most time travel books don't revolve around sixteen-year-olds, at least, not the ones that I've read. I ended up liking the characters though and I liked that they were so young.
I had read some poor reviews so I didn't know what to expect but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was entirely believable as it travelled from the distant past to the future. I got to like the characters and how they had to adapt to their surroundings. Highly recommended
Some interesting ideas but sloppy writing , a mish mash of interests that just don't flow in the story. The author doesn't seem to know his audience - a teenage hero somehow meanders between being American and British. Perhaps the author should read Stephen King "on writing" or get a better editor to let him know where it's going wrong
It's a adventure book . A young man find a strange device while on a dig at stonehedgh. It sends him to storage. A young man helps him there. A friend of his in present time tries to figure out what is going on. A group has been making and using time devices.
I really enjoyed this nice little adventure. There are some typos in the book here and there but it reads nicely and is a fun story. It's a bit timey-wimey but a good way of learning about history. I enjoyed it!
I greatly enjoyed reading this novel, well researched and full of twists and turns it was a real rollercoaster of adventure. I can not wait to read more from this exciting author.
Great story! The only complaint i have is that Im American and this has tons of English slang. So it was a bit muddled for me, but still a fun book to read. Very interesting concept.
Really good story, the nding seemed a little rushed, but I'm guessing that's because it's going to continue. Love the alternate chapter by different characters!
I enjoyed this book. I liked the character from the Stonehenge era. Also the ending tied in well with the story. I would read more stories if the sage continued.
This was a excellent story in my favorite science fiction topic: time travel.
The chapters bounced back and forth between the girl in the present and the guy who got stuck in the stone age. Finally you learn about the dueling groups of time-travel scientist in different eras with a surprising twist in their techniques for doing battle. One of the things I love about time-travel novels is the wide variety of unexpected ways to cover the same topic and plot.
The two main characters were 16 year-olds, which added a twist in perspective.
Another twist (depending on your where you are from) is that it takes place in England (Stonehenge) by a British author.
I guess I'm a sucker for picturesque speech, so here are my picks:
"There was nobody in, just her dog having kittens in the kitchen." p30
"My only concern was that somebody with an equally high opinion of their driving skills might be whizzing the other way." p51
"He had a smile you could grease a cake tin with." p54
"He made Machiavelli look like Homer Simpson." p63
"Having Blaith for protection will be like being a goldfish in the care of a mad moggy with a harpoon gun." 102
I wrote Time Rocks and I accidentally rated it by mistake. (good job I gave it five stars - I would have looked an even bigger dope if I'd given it lousy marks). Anyway I'm sorry, please ignore this star rating. However I would appreciate your view on the book if you feel like reviewing it. All the best, I hope you enjoy reading it. Brian Sellars
