This series isn't the best written in the world, but I find that I am drawn to the intriguing story and the character of Alexis Stanton. It reminds me a lot of the television show Alias. I was a big fan of that show, and for whatever reason I am a big fan of this series. The character of Alexis is strong and capable, yet she's got a vulnerability about her that makes her more believable as a kick-butt kind of woman. If you like espionage, action and strong female protagonists, and if you can get past the sometimes exhausting first person narrative, this is actually a pretty fun little series.

I have just finished reading the third book and truly hope more in this series are coming. I enjoyed the storyline (of all three books) and felt there was just enough room to let my imagination take over. These books were fast-paced page turners making them difficult to put down. I will be looking for more to read from this author!

Okay, so I've read the whole series now. If you're reading this review, you've probably read books 1 & 2 and are trying to decide if you should finish out the series. There's not much I can tell you. If you've read the other 2, then you know what the third one is like. It's more of the same. Alex is the same as ever --- no character evolution whatsoever. She is the exact same person on page 1 of book 1 as she is on the final page of book 3. So that's boring. There's not much to look forward to in the relationship department. Don't want to spoil it, but you'll be let down. Almost the whole book is telling instead of showing. Scenes begin and end in a choppy way with no good segues and no flow. The characters are all the same in every scene of every book. All the "color" men (White, Black, Red, etc.) don't evolve either. No one's character's
goes
anywhere. There's no arc. No surprises. There's a little bit more with Colin in this book, but that doesn't really make up for any of the problems. One thing that Phelps does (throughout the series) that really bugs me is to negate the value of anything she says instantly, as soon as she's said it. She'll start off a paragraph with the intent headed in one direction. She'll support her "case" for a few sentences, but then she'll add a sentence at the very end that flips on everything she's just said. It's so frustrating. Don't you want us to agree with you? Or at least to understand what you're saying as valid and try to be on the same side as the character thinking it?? When you make a character turn around and negate everything they've just been so convicted about, it just makes me not care about anything they think anymore.
And why does Alex have to be so wishy-washy when it comes to White (and really everything)???? "I'm not ready for him yet." "He's too this or that." "I can't handle a relationship like that right now." Blah blah blah. Okay fine. So if she can't handle it at the beginning of the first book -- fine. No problem. But guess what? She SHOULD be able to handle it by the end of the series!!!!!!! She had the upbringing and training to be so assertive and to stand her ground and know who she was and what she wants, and yet you turn her into this whiny little baby, who's so insecure it makes me want to puke. She's a trained assassin. A killer. She's motivated and capable. So why does she feel NO PASSION???? You don't even allow us to see inside her head (and it's in 1st person for crying out loud!!!) to see what she's privately thinking; how she's trying to work through her feelings. You just gloss over everything. I can't stand it. I just can't stand it. I can't stand to see good characters treated so poorly. I'm done.

I will admit it. I love this series, and Reflections doesn't disappoint. Alexis started out in Color Me Grey as a young, a little bit spoiled, a little bit flaky, woman with an interesting background and an interesting new opportunity as the lone female member of a Private Military Organization.
Through the first and second books we watched as Alexis learned and grew, as a soldier and as a woman. Each was a true treat to read, and this third edition does not disappoint. Secrets are revealed, mysteries are solved, and Alexis truly grows into who she was always meant to be.
The wrap-up of this volume of the series would, should J.C. have decided to end the series at this point, be a clean break. Ends are tied, relationships are brought to fulfillment and relationships between the partners are high and tight. Mr. Black is still my favorite character besides Alexis (White is just a little too prissy for my tastes!) but all of the characters, whether you like them or not, are well written.
Though kids and family are taking up J.C.'s time right now, according to her Facebook page, she has written lately that she is working on a new edition, and I can hardly wait to read it! I got these books for my Nook, then when they came out on Audio I immediately jumped on them and have not been disappointed.
Enjoy!

I think that this is the best book so far. There was a ton of humor and I loved it. I really want something to happen with Will Malone. I got a little confused towards the end then predicted why it was confusing, because the author was trying to keep it a secret. I normally can tell what the "secret" is no matter who the author.
So in this book Colin was promoted to Ms. Grey's dad's position. This then lead him to underestimate her. Which caused some tension. I wished they had visited more locations for her "elite teams." Again I also wish her undercover was lengthier. I wished that Mr. White would of been Alex's backup, and she would have gotten the stripper job, but I still liked the thing with Sal. I also wished the thing with Sal being a creepy stalker had gone for longer.
Overall really good book. This book has technical issues like I have said in previous reviews for these books, but I read them most of the storyline. (which I really! like!) Little language. recommended age 15 to +adult.

I really hope this isn't the last book in this engaging series by Ms. Phelps. I have really taken a liking to Alexis Stanton and I enjoy seeing her learn & grow in her role as assassin/spy.
There were some things I liked about this installment in the series, and others I didn't. I thought this story was a little more scattered than the first two. There were a lot of assignments and missions being carried out and it made it hard for me to fully appreciate each one on an individual basis. I did like Alex's promotion and that she was able to get her own team assembled. Colin is quite prominent in this story as well. He is a great character and I like the direction he is going in. And yes! Alex & White finally get to share a kiss. I would definitely be interested in seeing how their relationship progresses....

"The Alexis Stanton Chronicles" was a great book originally downloaded the first book "Color me Grey" for free loved the characters and had to purchase the series.
Unfortunately Barnes and Noble didn't have book two "Shades of Grey" and did have "The Alexis Stanton Chronicles" all three series for $6.50 great price for a good book.
J.C. Phelps I hope you are going to continue this series for I am hanging and grasping for what ifs with White and Grey.

I really liked this series. It is fast moving and fun to read. I admire the main character, Alexis. I have read the other books in this series, because I wanted to know more about Alexis's adventures.

Wayyy better than the first two in terms of J.C's writing. She is starting to give more detail and remain in the moment as opposed for breezing over details. There were some weird transitions though. But it didn't detract from the story line enough for me to make this 4 stars.

Just finished reading this, number 3 in the series. It was quite predictable and still good reading. This is an author to watch.

I think maybe the romance piece with white is being drug out a little much. Again though overall I enjoy reading about Alexis

These books aren't written terribly well, but I have always secretly wanted all of the awesome skills that Alexis has, so I am living vicariously through her...and enjoying it very much!

Other great book in this serise. We are getting to see the harsher side of grey and also the romance is becoming on.

Much better than book 2
Book 2 was very predictable. Book 3 Bausch better full of more twists and turns. Read it in a few hours. Most likely will get book 4 now.
