I became curious about this book after I saw the blurb on BoingBoing. Since the original Alice in Wonderland was a screed against modern algebra, there's nothing unusual about teaching math using the characters and setting of Wonderland. Thanks to GPS, stellar navigation is a dying art. This book introduces the prospective sailor to spherical trigonometry, but there aren't any exercises, so its use for self-teaching is limited.
