Kamari Grade was a well-known troubleshooter for the most discerning clients. But when called to investigate one of the most powerful men in financing, she's thrown into the world of Huron Base. Financiers were usually polished in word and deed, but there was a sexy arrogance to Huron that blared former thug and it wasn't an image he wanted to forget. When the lovely troubleshooter crossed his path she was everything he loved about his life-challenge, drive, determination, strength, success, beauty...For a man who could acquire anything, the allure of such a conquest was irresistible.

Every book you write AlTonya is very good. I love a strong alpha male. That what Huron Base is. Kami is a trouble shooter investigating Huron. When they meet for the first time you can feel the chemistry between them. I love them together.
A poorly written, poorly told loveable mobster love story. The characters and what little there was of a plot were so poorly developed I forced myself to read this book. Huron was a reformed billionaire criminal seeking to shed his illegal and shady businesses in favor of concentrating on his legitimate ones. Kam is some sort of investigator that looks into potential risks of proposed mergers and acquisitions, and business investors. Kam meets Huron through one of her investigations and he immediately pursues her romantically.
The whole book is him saying he isn't good enough for her and trying to get away from his past. She has commitment issues that result from her upbringing and family. There are so many problems with this book, and the series: the characters don't come off as real; the author "tells" you or states that a feeling or emotion exists instead of writing in a way that let's you discover, experience and connect to what is happening; there are too many unresolved and unconnect storylines and subplots so some people and events don't seem relevant to the story; the story lacks depth and complexity. This book had real potential but it was wasted.
I thought this book was a bit interesting, but there was just something missing. From the beginning the story was not a catch, however the character that I enjoyed most was Huron Base. Reading his character was most interesting because it was as if he knew what it was that he wanted. Kamari's character to me was written as if being coy and she what Huron was after. Kamari was a troubleshooter who investigated the background of clients. She was pulled in to do some investigative work on the most powerful man, however she Huron seem to be throwing her off her game due to this attraction they they seem to be have for each other. I gave this book 4 stars because there was something missing in this story to me.
Let's see...Layers NOT exactly what I EXPECTED...but I still ENJOYED the INTENSE attraction between Huron and Kamari...the mystery/suspense is very INTRIGUING and kept me turning the pages of this WAY TOO short story...that being said...I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to reading the next book in this series which will HOPEFULLY shed more light on ALL the DEEP DARK secrets surrounding this COLORFUL cast of characters.
This book was too dang short, I was ready for more. Did they peal away all the layers? Is love rally blind. This is book 1 waiting in the next installment of Layers.
This book was absolutely amazing. The intriguing page turner will not disappoint. The characters are absolutely amazing and wonderful with perfect storyline.
