painful. in three sentences within the same paragraph, one of the characters was described as 'swashbuckling', a 'rapier duelist', a 'western gunfighter', 'he defied expectations' and having 'a sparkle of authority'. seriously. the more i read, the worse it was. so i stopped reading.
