As the number of prisoners in the UK, USA and elsewhere continues to rise, so have concerns risen about the damaging short term and long term effects this has on prisoners. This book brings together a group of leading authorities in this field, both academics and practitioners, to address the complex issues this has raised, to assess the implications and results of research in this field, and to suggest ways of mitigating the often devastating personal and psychological consequences of imprisonment.
I don't want to say too much about this book because it's an exploration in it's own. Many aspects of prison and it's prisoners with a lot of information that one is unaware of. It maybe shocking to some. But I really enjoyed the details and explanation within the text. It one of those books that broadens one's view. It has comparisons while it questions the system on a whole scale. Every book is debatable. It might and might not please everyone but every book is worth reading and seeing another person's perspective and research is interesting.
