Cashmere has just been released from Federal Prison. After serving seven years, he has finally paid the Government the debt that he owed them. Now he wants what the streets owe him. His plan is to pick up from where he left off. The only problem is, the new generation has taken over and they refuse to accept orders from the middle aged veteran. It's seven years later, the little boys he left back home have turned into grown men. It's their turn and they're not going to sit on the sideline and watch him take over. Watch Cashmere do everything in his power to make it to the top, where he feels he truly belongs. Will he regain the crown or will he have to bow down?
Crown or Bow Down Old Heads vs. Young Knuckledheads
OH MY GOODNESS............ If you'll read my reviews you'll know I love Al-Saadiq, but I also HATE HIM! This brotha is truly good people and he brings characters to life that we all know. 7 years of sitting and finally Cashmere is back out on the streets. The streets that held him and his crew on solid ground no longer adhere to "codes!" Young brothas running the streets without regard for who you are or what you might have had!
Cash totally steps up the game with the knowledge of how the streets use to be! He assembles his team, and puts his hustle into full effect while letting the bodies fall where they may. Cashmere is a loving husband, stand up father, and a hustler at heart who has you turning the pages like what is going to happen now?
He struggles while learning valuable lessons that help get him from the bench, to the starting line up, and that eventually leads him to a coaching position but now as Cashmere has it all no competition to interfere can he stake his claim or will his greed lead to his demise? Another cliff hanger and I'm "book sick!" Al-Saadiq you better be about to release both No Exit 2, and Block Party 2.
Great follow up, I look forward to reading everything that you shelf
I heard of Al-Sadiq for a while now. This is a VERY talented man. I can't even begin to describe the adrenaline rush that comes with this book. Top favorite writer of all time. And just.think, this started with reading other crime fiction writers. This book has everything... betrayal, baby momma drame, loyal friends, fiends. You name it has it. This a close 1st person POV. If that's not your scene, pick it up anyway. It shows the powerful grip the streets can have after releasing someone who is trying to get back on their feet. Wherever he does a book signing, I'm there!!! PICk UP THIS BOOK, you will not be disappointed!
Cashmere caused lots of drama in his attempt to get back on top. Coming home from a bid and finding the little brothers of his friends running the streets he once ruled proved to be a blow his ego could not handle; Beautiful fiancé and children be damned
In the novel Block Party by Al-Saadiq Banks readers will meet Cashmere a man freshly home from a seven year prison term. The game has changed but one thing for certain, no one is going to tell Cash, he aint getting any money. In this classic urban tale readers will also meet his longtime friend Slim, a dope fiend but before you write him off as some junkie, this man is wise beyond his years and is indeed Cash’s right hand man. You will see how a man comes back to his hometown with what appears nothing but his determination is priceless. Cash is set to take the crown from the “Mayor” by all means necessary,
Block Party was an enjoyable read from start to finish because the characters were so true to life and the author carefully painted these people emotionally accurate as possible, you felt compassion and sympathy in certain parts of the story but you also learned a lesson or two within the pages of this novel.
Fans of urban fiction and suspense will thoroughly enjoy Block Party because of the Al-Saadiq’s realistic storyline combined with such accurate plot execution down to the last pages that will leave readers wanting more, just like me.Kudos to ASB on Block Party.

This urban book is a very interesting book and shows how a man can come home from jail and become successful. Here it is Raheem went to jail for ten years becasue of dealing heroin and when he came home he brought a chain of businesss and he now has a family.
This was a cautionary tale about what happens in the game. I read this book years ago and decided to pick it up and reread. I enjoyed it just as much today as I did years ago. This book shows that everybody in the game doesn't make the right choices and there are consequences to all actions.
Block Party was a smash hit. Saadiq is a seasoned author and he definitely knows how to hold a reader. Keep up the good work brother. From the author Cole Hart of A-Town Veteran.
