Long out of print, The Sand Wars is Charles Ingrid 's classic saga of military science fiction. This special omnibus edition includes the first three books of the series-- Solar Kill, Lasertown Blues , and Celestial Hit List --together for the first time.Jack Storm was one of the last Knights--a soldier abandoned by his own people to fight a battle he couldn't possibly win. His only a suit of armor that has been altered by his alien enemies...armor that could, if worn too long, transform him into an inhuman killing machine.... But Jack Storm is not a machine. He is a man--on a one-man crusade of vengeance....
Uninspired military Sci-Fi. Its perfectly readable but its bland and I could honestly care less about the characters. Mediocrity at its best. There is so much better Sci-Fi out there that even reading this as a time waster just seems pointless.
I gave each book 4 stars on their own but as a series they rate five stars. There is not a weak link in the series. Each book is strong on its own merit but because of the integrity of the series I would give first three six stars if I could.
This book is not for everyone, but is enjoyable in its ways. This is an old school military scifi book with plenty of action and near the end of the book there is a decent amount of political intrigue, but any literary snob would hate this book. There is no deep message, and it will never reveal the meaning of life but it is a rip roaring good time. The characters are ok. Although through Mr. Ingrid's abilities the characters are likable that does not stop the desire to slap them for their idiocy from time to time. the book is good, but I must stress again not for everyone.
