Rate this book
The Witch's Guide to Life by Theresa Alan
Leave it to a man to break one spell--only to cast another. When ice hockey coach J.T. becomes the first person to buy one of Ariel Watson's paintings, her work is suddenly the hottest ticket in town. And J.T. is more than an art lover--he's a lover. Trouble is, since falling for him. Ariel hasn't been able to produce once decent piece of work. What's a witch to do?

Single White Witch By Carly Alexander
The Etherworld isn't all it's cracked up to be for single female spellcasters. A girl's only option is to hook up with a warlock--and everyone knows how tricky those guys are: in a twinkling, you're slaving over a hot cauldron with little sorcerers underfoot. So Annie Quicksilver is investigating mortal men. But crazed Romanian shoe designers and smarmy power brokers clearly aren't the answer--and Annie is pleasantly surprised to discover who is.

The Trouble with Witchcraft by Holly Chamberlin
Backfired love spells are Haven Castle's embarrassing specialty. The last time she tried one, Jared Cragmere not only didn't fall at her feet, he vanished. Fortunately, he's reappeared, none the worse for wear--though nursing a grudge against the person the person who zapped him to Nowheresville. Haven couldn't bear to see Jared's reaction if he found out the truth--especially now that he's finally taken a very real--and deliciously sexy--interest in her.

I really enjoyed this book, the stories were very cute and for the most part very entertaining. I had a bit of trouble getting into the first story, but once there it read very smoothly and easily.

I'm giving 4 stars because it was fun, lighted hearted and easy to read. Not deep but just a cutsie novel to enjoy Halloween.

Story #1 has a completely annoying & selfish main character. There was no redeeming back story about her to make me care.

Story #2 is a bad rip off of Sex & the City (both are single New Yorkers who write a dating column & loves shoes).

I didn’t bother to read the last story.

Contemporary paranormal romance involving witches. Sex in the 3rd, implied sex in the first 2.

Holly Chamberlin - 2 stars. This was well written. I just couldn't stand the male & female leads. Haven is a Beta heroine, bland, low self esteem, no back bone. Not what I look for in a good heroine. Jared is too good to be true : kind to all, handsome & a true defender of the downtrodden (did I mention he's also rich & famous?). I liked the witch familiars. They made the story.

Carly Alexander - 3 stars. This was another well written, humorous story. Annie is living it up in NYC, away from her repressive dimension where witches only have babies & become domestic goddesses. Simon is her boss who wants to send her back - pronto.

Theresa Alan - 1 star. Poorly written, dull story about an amateur witch who does dumb things. The thing I hated the most about this story is how people don't act right. For example, near the end of this disaster the female lead's sister decides to get rid of her 2 kids so she can talk to the female lead in private. She gives the oldest $20 & tells her to go to McDonalds & a movie. Now the oldest is 14 years old & the youngest is 2. How the hell is she supposed to get to these places - fly? Plus, I've taken a 2 year old to the movies & it's not something a teenager should ever attempt!
Unbelievable that this is a published author with ,more then one book to her name. Not someone I'd EVER read willingly again.

3 Cute chick-lit paranormal romances...

That about sums it up.... not great literature, but light non-mind boggling read.

"Witches' Guide to Life": Witch Ariel Watson is a painter, J.T. buys one of her paintings and her work is selling like hotcakes.... Problem is when she & J.T. get together, she is no longer able to paint!

"Trouble w/ Witchcraft": Haven Castle is not a very good witch, her spells backfire... she sends the object of her affection off the planet for a year and when he returns, he is not a happy camper, especially when he finds out it is Haven who accidentally sent him away.

"Single White Witch": Annie just isn't interested in hooking up w/ a Warlock (too much domestic work on the home front) so she is now scouting "mortal" men... After meeting too many Not-Mr.-Rights, Annie finally discovers her match.

This book was okay. The story by Holly Chamberlin was a good plot, but I didn't care so much for the writing. The second story by Carly Alexander was reminiscent of Sex and the City--it was pretty cute. The third story was very heartwarming.

Each story was predictable but entertaining and funny. I got this for in between serious books or when I needed a pick me up. Last week, I had the flu. This was a wonderful sick book. I thank the writers for helping me through my misery.

I gave up on this anthology after the first 2 stories in it. Not nearly as interesting as the reviews on PaperBackSwap made it sound.

I made it through the first story. It was fun, but that's about it. I gave up a few pages into the second story.

Of the 3 short stories in this book I liked the 2nd and the 3rd the most. I enjoyed the short story format, but thought the first story was rushed.

I'm giving up on this book. The first story really wasn't terrible. I just can't get into it.

the three stories were pretty much boring; and quite simple in their story and development of a story; I managed to read them in one day so that's a plus

Witches who think magic will cure anything, and the opposite happens. The middle story was my favourite. Skimmed the first and second stories.

Each story has it's own bit of charm but it took well over half the book to get me to lile it. Mainly because I was having issue with the second story. Overall though I found myself liking it.
