For thirty-three-year-old Cassie Hayes, life is about to get messier. She can't cook, unless you count coffee as a meal (she does). She can't commit (just ask her ex-husband). She drinks too much (tequila for breakfast). Of course, she has guided her share of authors to the bestseller list for the literary publishing house where she works (when she makes it to the office). And now she must coax a sequel out of a Pulitzer Prize -- winning author-turned-recluse. Moving in with the recluse is one thing, but teaching him the hustle so he can win the heart of his Spanish housekeeper is way beyond the call of duty.

Cassie slowly unravels, with no coffeehouses, no bagels and nothing but sand for nightlife. On top of that, she's having phone sex with her favorite author, the mysterious, London-based Michael Pearton, who has suddenly decided to ruin their perfect affair by insisting that after five years they meet in person. Add a tabloid reporter who is after the literary story of a lifetime, and Cassie's dance card is full.

Spanish Disco is about a woman named Cassie Hayes who lives in Boca Raton, Florida, who is dealing with her bosses demands for her to go get the story on the life an old author by the name of Ronald Riggs. While dealing with knowing what she wants far as commitment & drinking to much alcohol in the morning like it's a breakfast meal. While living with Ronald Riggs to get the story her boss wants she learns something a little bit more than just a man who wrote a book like his maid who cooks spicy food that will give you heart burn to the fact that he enjoys watching wheel to fortune & much more. I think that book was good out it kept me wanting more & especially the imagery throughout the book. Each character had their own individuality. I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy a fun book & as well a quick read that will keep you entertained.

Me parecía aburridísima, malamente traducida o malamente escrita, y no me hacía sentir absolutamente nada.

Spanish Disco was lots of fun. I was skeptical about it because I could see from the start that it was no contender for literary prizes. Right off the bat, however, every character faced interesting challenges, both external and internal. I was hooked by page 30.

I think Erica Orloff is an excellent writer; she packs all the tools and knows how to use 'em.

Spanish Disco was published by Red Dress Ink, now defunct. There is a Red Dress Ink Fans group on Goodreads, "For all of you Red Dress Ink fans that wish they were still publishing books. Past, present and future readers!" The group has 207 members. You go, girls! (And boys!)

This title is hugely misleading! I thought it took place in Spain! maybe they went to some discos! Maybe there was some travel or mention of Spanish. No, no, no and no. It is basically about a JD Salinger type who is secretly in love with his Mexican housekeeper who likes to dance. That does not equal Spanish disco. The book was fair and I finished it but it was not what I was hoping to read.

Add one more to the "I loved it!" crowd! Oh, Cass - so strong and so desperate at the same time. I really enjoyed the relationship with her father and her several father figures. It was funny to try and figure out the real authors Orloff is describing...

Raise a glass to sap (and get Cassie a dose of homeopathic Nux vomica!)

A very fun, very quick read. (I read it in one day)
One of the better chick-lit books that I have read recently...

This one was okay. Not anything I'll rave about, but interesting enough to keep me reading. Good characters, not your typical chick lit book.

An okayish book that got the three stars more for the fact that I read it during a book slum than the fact that the book was actually good.

Surely not hilarious. With a plot similar to M&B - girl and boy fall in love and live happily ever after -but sometimes very philosophical and thought provoking.
