Data Mining Model for Protein Sequence Alignment: Bioinformatics

Rate this book
Data Mining Model for Protein Sequence Alignment Bioinformatics is the Science of managing, mining and interpreting information from biological sequences and structures. It is an inter-disciplinary research area which may be defined as the interface between biological and computational scineces. This scientific field deals with the computational management of all kinds of biological information. This information can be on genes and their prodicts, whole organisms, or even ecological systems. Over the past few decades, major advances in the field of molecular biology coupled with advances in genomic technologies have led to an explosive growth in the biological information generated by the scientific community. During the last few years, bioinformatics has been overwhelmed with increasing floods of data both in terms of volumes and in terms of new databases and new types of data. This deluge of genomic information has in turn, led to an absolute requirement for computerized databases to store, organize and and index the data and for specilized tools to view and analyze the data.
