These books are so great for beginning readers. We used it with Sonlight, but we also use Barton Reading & Spelling, and felt it went well with that as well.

Limited vocabulary and few sight words give early readers confidence.

It's hard to get excited about early readers with controlled vocabulary and some out of date words like nag. . . but,

I appreciated the I Can Read It! series for the phonetic emphasis (less sight words) and there seemed to be less word repetition after the first couple of stories than in some other earliest readers we've seen. My kids like the simple stories and illustrations.

This book was filled with many stories and I really liked the last story. I really liked the dog in that story. He had a red lump on his back. I had fun learning all the stories.

These books are great to learn how to read with. They are interesting enough to keep a child's attention, and focus on word groupings to make reading easy.

We are using them to learn to correctly pronounce words as well as reinforce good reading habits.
