Her gallant cowboy rode to the rescue and welcomed her to his Lone Star empire.

Miles from home Jaclyn Macgregor was left for dead. Right square in Collingsworth country. She was a Louisiana spitfire--and her tenacity was all that kept her alive. Targeted by the most powerful mavens of Texas society, Jaclyn encountered the one man who had all the resources to play their games.

Bart Collingsworth had an oil-rich empire to command, but he'd never met a girl like Jaclyn, let alone brought one back to the ol' homestead. As much as she resisted his help, cowboy honor was an inescapable fact of life in Texas. One too many girls had disappeared recently--victims of too much money and too much influence--and Bart wouldn't let this one slip through his fingers. And he'd do just about anything to make Jaclyn a permanent part of his world...

Real name: Jo Ann Vest
Pseudonyms: Joanna Wayne.

Joanna Wayne began her professional writing career with the release of her first novel, DEEP IN THE BAYOU, in 1994, but Joanna will be the first to tell you that the wheels were set in motion years before. She started reading at four years of age, the same age that she began making weekly trips to the library to check out as many books as they’d let her have, only to finish reading them all before bedtime. That love of books never waned.

Joanna was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana and was the middle child of a large family. She moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1984 when she married her current husband. New Orleans opened up a whole new realm of activities and she found the mix of cultures, music, history, food and sultry southern classics along with her love of reading a natural impetus for beginning her writing career. It was there that she attended her first writing class and joined her first professional writing organization. From that point on, there was no looking back.

Now, forty published books later, Joanna has made a name for herself as being on the cutting edge of romantic suspense in both series and mainstream novels. She is known for the suspense and emotion she brings to the page, as she takes ordinary people and thrusts them into life-and-death situations. She has been on the Walden Bestselling List for romance and won many industry awards. She is a popular speaker at writing organizations and local community functions and has taught creative writing at the University of New Orleans Metropolitan College.

She currently resides in a small community forty miles north of Houston, Texas with her husband. Though she still has many family and emotional ties to Louisiana, she loves living in the Lone Star state.

Solid book. I enjoyed it more than the first book in the series. The suspense plot is well-done and the romance much more prevalent than in book #1. So it was a more well-rounded Harlequin Intrigue. There wasn't really anything that bothered me :)

Note...the description of the book, which is from the back cover, is a bit misleading. It doesn't summarize the book well at all.

The storyline is basically that Jaclyn's best friend disappears and she believes that Margo's married lover, a Senator, is responsible. She goes looking for her friend in Texas after a mysterious phone call and ends up almost getting killed. Bart finds her and can't seem to walk away from her. So he decides to help her find her friend. Jaclyn is NOT targeted by Texas mavens, nor have there been a bunch of disappearing girls. Just Margo, and 1 other girl seven years earlier. So whoever wrote this summary (and also the summary for book #1 in the series) really didn't know much about the book.

This book is about a woman named Jaclyn, who is an ex-con. She spent 2 years in jail for stealing $10,000 from her boss. Well, she was framed by her boss' son, because she didn't want to sleep with him. He stole the money, broke into her car - more like made himself a key to her car, and stashed $3,000 in her car. The cops found the money and arrested her. She couldn't prove that she didn't take the money.

Jaclyn had a hard life. She didn't know who her father was. Her mother was a drug addict, who would beat her. Her mother dies when she was 12 and she had gone live with some foster parents, who also treated her bad.

She met a foster sister named Margo. They have gotten close and would stay in touch. Margo left the home. She have hooked up with men after men. The last man she hooked up with was Senator Pat Hebert from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Jacly hasn't heard from her friend in a while and have gotten worried about her. She was lured to Colt Run Cross. When she goes to Colt Run Cross, someone tries to kill her. They run her off the road. Thank goodness that Bart was on the road, when the incident happen. He rescued her out of the car.

Bart Collingsworth is a rich man. He's a cowboy. He's not a cop, detective or anyone that's part of the law. But, being a cowboy, he knows how to use a gun. Of course, he has to protect his ranch, right?

I have to say that Bart loves to eat. He states that's what cowboys do.

It was something about Jaclyn that drew him to her. Their meet had started off on a lie. Reason was, Jaclyn was an ex-con and most people don't care to be in the presence of an ex-con.

Bart assist Jaclyn in finding what happens to Margo. Someone was behind Margo going missing, but who?

This book has a lot of funny lines in it.

I like that the book was fast pace and it kept my attention.

This was a really good book. Bart comes across Jaclyn went her car is caught in an accident. Someone ran her off the road.

Jaclyn does not Bart's help at first but she finally comes clean with everything from her past. Bart stays by her side as they find her one friend who disappeared is found dead.

Bart was not looking for love but in came to in the form of Jaclyn. They find out who is after her and they realize that they love each other. They find the love that was meant for them and them lone.

The is the second in Colt's Cross Run. The four brothers of the Collingworths.

I will read the rest of the series.

Well someone dropped off a LOAD of Mills and Boon at Morrisons so I was curious to try one out, and picked up this - I like the premise of a hunky cowboy saving a girl from a car crash, with her having amnesia due to hitting her head, though I found the ‘missing person’ plot line dark, I prefer a more lighthearted romance - in general a good book, though not my favourite in terms of the romance aspect if that makes sense?

An OK read.

Jaclyn is run-off the road and Bart is there to save the day. Despite the many, many lies Jaclyn tells, Bart still falls in love.

Not as much intrigue as I expected.

Enjoyed every bit of it. In my opinion, this is a classic tale of one who understands the gift of friendship and the mystery of dedication... Favorite character - Margo Kite, sadly we never met her in the book, but she sure sounds like an eclectic individual.
