The selections of hymns and spirituals in this collection are wonderful! However, applying meter to them, which this collection does, often strips away the soul from the music. Churches are best served utilizing this resource if they have musicians with the know how to play this music as it was originally intended to be played.

If you attended traditional African American churches while growing up, you will recognize and love these hymns.
