When his younger twin brothers Darius and Devin wreck everything in his life in just a few short days, big brother Clay decides to enlist the help of a friend. Bake is a top at a club called the Hammer, and knows just how to handle two subby boys, even if no one else can tell them apart. Bake is a twin himself, and knows about the special kind of bond that creates. Dare and Dev might be a little closer than Bake and his twin, Bean, have ever been, but that doesn't stop him from understanding their needs.

Meanwhile, Bean meets their big brother Clay, who's just back from his tour in the military, and thinks he's found a treasure like nothing he's ever seen. Clay isn't into games, and Bean loves his straightforward style. What should be a perfect solution for all of the brothers, though, turns out to be more complicated than anyone expects. From family jealousy to threats they could never imagine, the boys will have to be tough to take on what life throws their way. Is there strength in numbers, or will both families be torn apart?

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

Sometimes I wonder if I have a secret other self who is a crack addict. When I see I have voluntarily rated this book a 4 that seems the only explanation.

However, I realise there is usually a special time and place when I read SM books. Did:

* someone make me cry?
* I get a work project rejected?
* I feel like a utter failure?
* I get two hours sleep the night before?

On these days when I get home I literally crawl onto my bed with my e-reader, pull the covers up, and pretend the rest of the world isn't there. I am incapable of reading anything that requires a brain cell. Sean Michael novels hit the spot perfectly, and I mean that in an affectionate way.

The problem is that when I try to pick up one of these books any other time I end up holding it at arms length, saying "What is this shit?"

Like Baked. Man, is this book terrible. However, there was a clearly a time when I was at a low ebb, and it worked for me. Thank you for that, SM.

Wonder twins activate
In form of alliteration
In shape of BBQ condiments

Seriously, with characters names like Bake and Bean or Dev and Dare you've just got to let it go. Let it go. Stop singing!

This is a longer offering because who've got two sets of twins interacting in relationships. One's twincest with kink (spanking and submission) and the other just likes sex. Whichever team you end up in this alternating story, you get lots of sex. SM doesn't skimp. Honestly, I was hoping for more twincest than I got. That said, the whole resolving Dev and Dare's problems and determining them as individuals in a poly relationship with different wants and needs was well done. Clay and Bean were just Engergizer sex bunnies, and in my opinion an outlet to avoid more twincest. *pouts*

Liked it, but it dragged after a bit. There's only so much sex I can read at one time and this is orgiastic.

**Loved my holiday gift from my friend, Lei who's so supportive of my deviant tendencies. She's a FIVE STAR friend! :D Thanks, Lei.**

This story is part of the author's A Hammer Novel series but can be read as a standalone without a problem.

Bake and Bean are twins and although they share many similarities they are very different when it comes to sex. Bake is a Dom and into the scene at club Hammer while Bean is straight vanilla with no interest in BDSM. One night Bake and Bean are approached by Clay who is upset with his younger brother's recent acting up. He's brought Dev and Dare, who are twins and subs, to Bake for some control/punishment and when he meets Bean they hit it off immediately.

The story then follows the two couples as they split up and slowly form their relationships. Clay and Bean's story features lots of sex amidst some simple scenes of getting to know each other, watching TV, cooking and vacationing together. Bake and the twins story is also filled with lots of sex but has a more interesting tone as they explore Dare's need for a bit of pain and Dev's more gentle needs. Bake is more than happy to take on his 'boys' and give them each what they need.

During the last half of the story there is a storyline involving a threat to one of the twins that was interesting. The situation itself was too quickly and easily resolved but the outcome to the twin and the others involved was nicely handled. In the end Clay and Bean and Bake, Dev and Dare are happily looking forward to a HEA future.

This story was trademark Sean Michael with lots of sex, one word sentences and lite BDSM. The characters are nice but none really stands out and Clay and Bean's part felt like page filler. Nothing really happened with them and it felt like all of their scenes were pure sex. Bake and his 'sweet and spicy boys' story was more interesting but really neither of the pairings really grabbed me. The relationships develop almost instantly and aside from the bit of excitement towards the end didn't really have much action to speak of outside of the bedroom.

One thing that I really did not like was the choice of character names. Bake and Bean, even after the cute explanation that was given, just seemed too 'cutesy' and kept distracting me from the story. I've been a fan of the author for years but this story just didn't impress me much.

However, overall it was an easy to read story and will no doubt appeal to fans of the author and the series.

3.5 stars *sigh* I don't know why I do this to myself. I keep saying SM's work is junkfood. If you've read one SM book you know darned well what the others are going to be like: Pretty boy, Pretty man, Pretty man boy, Yours, Mine, Fuck Yeah, so full, Love, I need, Fucking A...and so on.
But that's not what I didn't like about this installment of the Hammer series. I felt like the other reviewers, that Bake and the twins' story should have been separated from Bean and Clay's. Don't get me started on the names. You have to suspend common sense more than usual in this book; how else do you make sense of Clay as a brother. Dude pushes his brothers off on Bake in exasperation and later (you'll find out the deets if you read this :P) is eager to get on with his life after major heartfail. What the hell did being in the military do to him? I wouldn't mind reading more about the twincest menage but this read an awful lot like Velvet Glove's Braided. :/

I really liked this story about two brothers who become involved with a brother and his younger twin brothers. It all sounds very complicated, and to a degree it is, but reading the story and following the couples was easy enough. It was also very funny in places.

As with many of Sean Michaels's stories, the plot isn't very involved, the focus is on the developing relationships. As usual, there is lots of hot sex, some kinky (the brother "in charge" of the two subby twins has his hands full), some less kinky. All of it hot. Different from most of the other Hammer novels, this one is fairly light on the Dom/sub aspect of the menage, and the outside threat plays a major role in the last third of the book.

There are two stories going on. One D/s/s and one totally vanilla. The vanilla story was very boring. The D/s/s story is twincest. It's okay but it was hard for me to like one of the twins and at times I felt the Dom (his name is Bake - ugh for the name) seemed ineffective when it came to helping the boys manage their life outside the bedroom.

I like lots o' smut in my reads, but the couple of Sean Michael books I've read have almost too much, and seriously, I'm not complaining, much, just know that going in.

We have parallel stories with two sets of twins, Bake and Bean, (yep), both start romances with another set of brothers - Bake with bratty sub twins that he's had his eyes on for over a year - Devin and Darius and Bean with the twin's singleton brother, Clay.

Bake and the twins is the hotter couple as far as I'm concerned while Clay and Bean are pretty vanilla.

With Bake being a twin as well, he was well equipped to handle Dev and Dare's rambunctiousness and they couldn't pull the identity switch on him like they did with everyone else, including brother Clay. Bake understood them and their individual needs and wants intimately and fed them. He was one of the few who cared enough to know who was whom (boy, I hoped I used whom correctly!).

Probably a reread for me so I liked it, lots (and not much complaining, LOL).

I think the author was in comparing mood while writing this story...lol.Jokes apart it was a nice comparing tale of vanilla and bdsm,no the author didn't compare but reading one chapter of vanilla and the next spicy twincent bdsm almost gave a feel of comparison.
This book should have been named Story of brothers than Hammer....lol
Bake and Bean being twins,Bake falling for both twins Dev & Dare and Bean falling for Clay the elder brother of Dev & Dare. So the apt title should be Brothers in love...haha
Anyhow after the comparing read I decided Bdsm I mean Bake & D&D's story was much more exciting than the Vanilla Coupling of Clay and Bean. With author adding the interesting twist of kidnapping in Bake's story and ending with his signature fisting scene.Awesome.Nice hot scene but only if you like porn;)

This is a Hammer book. I've never read anything in this universe (except for maybe some shorts in anthologies) but it was twincest. What can I say, pervy to the end. It's actually about two sets of twins, but not together. There are two parallel stories. Clay has twin brother Devin and Darius who crashed his truck and basically make him insane. He's known that dom Bake has been eyeing them so figures a good punishment will be to let him have a go at them. Bean is Bake's twin, but they aren't sexually involved and neither Bean nor Clay are into the BDSM scene. The two stories run along with Dev and Dare adjusting to life with Bake and Clay and Bean falling in love. There is some jealousy on Bake's part and later there is a kidnapping and recovery that stresses the relationships. I was leery about buying this because of the name. Bean? Bake? seriously? Ugh. Most of the time I was able to ignore it. It has a hint of Braided, the twin dynamic was similar although as it went on I found it less so. There is tons of trademark SM sex, not as much as I expected to be honest, but enough that I skimmed a few of the scenes that I didn't really feel added much. The BDSM is super light and consists of a couple of spankings and one interlude with a flogger. For fans of SM it will be an enjoyable read, I'm not sure it really had much to do with the Hammer universe although a couple of names are tossed in as other characters from other books I presume. After the opening scene they never go back there. Forgot to add I am TOTALLY into the font on these books though. Lurv it.

I agree with the other reviews I've read about this one. Coulda totally done without Clay and Bean and the names are really, really dumb. Also, I just started reading this series and I'm going by the booklist on SM's website. I'm a little confused. She just released this one but it falls in the middle of the list. Not that it really matters, it seems that except for the Montana and Billy books they can be read as standalones. I'm just a little curious about why she ordered them this way.

Despite being the 5th book of a series, there was very little tie to the common thread that made it a series - the Hammer club. There were two stories running simultaneously in this book, one included twincest. There's very little plot throughout, a little pick-up toward the end. There were a couple of annoying errors where the character names were incorrectly switched. I really enjoyed the prior books in the series, but this one was just OK for me.

I never would have thought I would so enjoy a story about twins so much well, twins getting it on, but this book enlightened me! It was so sexy and loving. The Bean/Bake brothers contrasted with Dev/Dare well while still letting Bake understand the closeness of the other set of boys. I thought the end story was great. One of the best of this series by far!

Oh, this one was much better. More story, fun dynamics with the two sets of brothers, naughty twin lovin', and some actual bad stuff to work through. I read this like a speed demon, and I'm going to do the same with the next. Something has compelled me to finish this whole series in the next week.

This book was just wow. Really really weird. I will never look at twins the same way again. While I'm not opposed to menage books in general and quite enjoy the ones where all three characters participate the fact that the twins had sex just freaked me out. Also, Bake refering them as each others "lovers" instead of brothers grossed me out. I did really like both of the twins though and Bake.

What drove me nuts even more than the extremely weird menage was the jarring switch over to Clay and Bean every once in awhile. It was completely unnessary. While I liked them okay it felt like it took from the story itself. I don't think that the first chapter should have been from Bean's perspective. That set the assumption that the book was about him and Clay. But it was this weird back and forth that confused me. So there were five total perspectives in this book and it just confused the hell out of me.

The book gets 2 stars instead of 1 because the story itself is really quite good. Take out the utter weirdness of the twins relationship and it would have been a four star book for the story. Probably one of the best storylines in the series even if it is a shortish book.

I REALLY DIDN'T LIKE DEV!!!

AND, I feel like the way things ended kinda left it up in the air whether he redeemed himself!

I LOOOOVED DARE!!! Oh gosh, he was my fave.

We don't get much background on any of the characters really, (maybe cause I was reading this as a stand-alone?) Idk... But I feel like some background on how Dev and Dare came to be as they are, what lead to the dynamic such as it was, would have helped me like him a little more... Maybe... Maybe not. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

I really didn't care much for Clay and by extension, Bean. I therefore schemed majority of their chapters... More accurately, I read the first chapter and schemed the rest.

Bake was ok, the sex was HAWTTTTTTTTT!!

The end.

The twins were an interesting idea with their complicated dynamic, but the Bean and Clay parts were boring and held no story at all - no conflict, no development, no plot, just everything's perfect from start to finish.

Not bad, but I didn’t like it as much as the other Hammer stories

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 7/10

PROS:
- Darius and Devin are twins and both subs, but there’s a difference in their personalities right from the start. I love that they need such vastly different things from their Dom and that Bake is able to satisfy them both and read them so well.
- I think this is an interesting take on a threesome relationship. Bake’s definitely the center of their romance: every sex scene involving him and the twins has Bake in it. Sometimes it’s all 3, sometimes it’s Bake and Dev, and sometimes it’s Bake and Dare. We never see the twins messing around with only each other when Bake isn’t present, yet the twins also don’t get jealous of each other when Bake does things individually with each of them.
- Most of the guys in the book’s two relationships fall in love practically at first sight. That doesn’t bother me or anything, but I also appreciated the fact that Clay’s feelings for Bean developed so gradually, especially since Clay is an Afghanistan vet (who not only experienced 5 years in the service, but also had to keep his sexuality a secret the whole time) and thus keeps his feelings so close to him.

CONS:
- The book contains practically no seduction; that is, Clay and Bean meet and are in bed together within an hour, and Bake doesn’t have to do much to get Darius and Devin into his bed, either. The lack of seduction in the threesome particularly irked me, because there’s an indication early on that the twins either are scared of Bake or simply don’t trust him, but the author never really follows through on that. Ten pages later, they’re all blissfully sexed out and sated.
- I definitely understand why Bean finds Clay’s matter-of-factness appealing. The problem for me, though, was that the sex scenes between those two felt more rote than passionate (and, as is the case with most of Michael’s books, there’s a lot of sex here and very little else). Clay is so extremely straightforward that there’s practically no mystery to him. I found myself rushing through the Bean-and-Clay scenes because they just weren’t as interesting to me as the ones with Bake, Dev, and Dare.
- There are two sets of twins in this story, and the men of each set have names that not only begin with the same letter, but are also close to the same length: Bake and Bean, and Darius and Devin (or Dare and Dev). This causes some issues when trying to read quickly: I wasn’t able to simply glance at the name and move on. Even Michael confuses the names on occasion.

Overall comments: This book has some marked similarities to Between Friends: there’s one vanilla relationship and one light-to-moderate BDSM relationship, there’s some emotional fallout from a horrible experience one of the characters goes through, all of the characters are very close so we get to see them interacting fairly often as friends, etc. I enjoyed it overall, but it isn’t like the other Hammer books. There are relatively few BDSM scenes, none of which occur at the club, and there’s very little crossover with characters from the other Hammer stories.

This is a Hammer book but can be read on its own. There's plenty of hot sex but it has a story, too. The story is of two couples. The author did very well at keeping the transitions between the two couples clear. The story includes fisting, twincest, and spanking. Both couples are given a HEA. I would have liked more closure after what happened to Dare but the main thing that kept this from being a 4 star story for me was that I had trouble with Bake and had to remind myself far too often that he is only human. He really didn't take care of his boys well. The whole thing with Dare might have been prevented had Bake simply gone to work with Dev once to see what might be making him sick and to make sure that Mike knew Dev was taken. At times, I felt both twins should see a Dr. and have a physical, but Bake didn't insist on that, either, despite Dev's sickness. Bake also helped Dare sneak out of the hospital when he might have needed to stay there. {His IV was pulled out-ouch!} Bake promised the twins that he would let nothing happen to them but something did happen to Dare while they were under his care. Bake was very good at helping them resolve issues, I loved how he could tell them apart {his sweet boy and his spicy boy}, and he was very good at loving them equally and trying to meet their very different needs.
Overall, I think this is a good story that gives a reader two couples; vanilla and kink. As far as I can tell there are no more stories with these couples. I'd love to read more about them.

I know going into a Hammer story that it will be edgy and a bit hard. I expect that and sometimes its what I'm looking for at the moment.

This book was a bit more of a challenge than the other. Unlike some of the other reviews I like the little side story of Bean and Clay. It was sweet and while they weren't into the life style there was a clearly a top and bottom to their relationship.

What a did have a bit more of a problem with was the sexual nature of the relationship between Dev and Dare. This was a bit edgier that I'm used to a it did make me a bit uncomfortable. By the end of the book I understood their connection. I know it was consensual and benefited both brothers. I got more comfortable with but I think it was even harder when their interaction came from an order by Bake.

I'm sorry I read the book and its good to get pushed a bit but not my favorite for this series that's for sure.

There was just too much going on in this book. It was enough to just build two separate relationships and have them grow into something concrete, while explaining the twin bond from 2 different perspectives, but add in a mystery and you've got yourself a jumble of things you need to keep straight.

As Twin's go, I like the idea of there being two sets and them explaining different types of relationships that they can have with each other, but it was a lot to process. Bean's relationship never gets fully developed in my mind, and probably could have been a book all on its own. Whereas Bake and the twins got most of the screen time so you learned more about them. I liked there relationship and it was cute, but as far as the BDSM aspect of this book went for a Sean Michael novel I kinda felt it was lacking.

I really enjoy twin interaction like this. I found I want Bake and Bean had more interactions. Otherwise I enjoyed this book in the series vs some if the older ones. If say more if a 4.5 starts. But I still really enjoyed this.

I also liked that it showed so e different types is D/s relationships. I felt recently the type of masters were all very similar in this series.

I also like that this book had quick love. They met they fell in love. I hate when characters fight what they feel for each other.

I'm sorry but I just can't with the Bake and Bean. *bashes head into desk*

Beyond that, I struggled to read this because of the two different stories going on. I think I probably would have liked it more had it been two books instead of bouncing back and forth. Just when I'd gotten into Bake and the twins storyline it would switch to Clay and Bean and I had no interest in their story I just wanted to get back to the other one. Had they been separate stories I would have enjoyed Bean and Clay's story instead of resenting it for interfering with Bake, Dev and Dare's story.

This was a good book - as usual, lots of sex, not too much plot. It would have easily gotten 4 stars instead of 3 if the Bean/Clay relationship wasn't part of the story - it was just extra pages of repetetive sex.

Dare/Darius/Bake were great, though, and I would have liked to keep reading their story, especially after the "event" - not much closure.

A lovely, lively, sweet novel circling around two relationships - those between Bake and the twins, and Bean and Clay. There's a little bit of jealous, a lot of sweetness and spiciness, and some non-BDSM lovin'.
A nice reprieve for something in between heavier novels, when you just need a break and a feel-good read.

This was a nice twist, and I liked the way she handled the twins being different from one another. I want a Bake in my own life (too bad he's gay, but then all the good ones are, huh?). Still I find Michael's subs all pretty annoyingly immature. The sex is hot, but there's so much that by the end I was skimming. (Ironic that the last word of the book is "finally".)

Another enjoyable read for the Hammer- series by Sean Michael. It did not disappoint me and I found both twins' romances interesting and honest. Though I do admit that some more bdsm elements/action and less vanilla would have been nice. 2.5 stars

always great, this one was a winner. You have two relationships going on at one time. There was not very much interaction with the club. At the very end you had a small reference from some of the previous characters. But like always it was one good read.

What can I say. Twincest and a menage...heaven!
Although part of a series this could be read as a standalone. However, this being Sean Michael there was a lot of sex, a lot of hot, smoking sex and if you looked hard enough you could find a little plot too.
