Passion simmers, and love is no longer a dream. But hidden in the shadows, danger waits, threatening Danielle and Ethan's chance at a life together. Will a man, twisted by his obsession, separate them forever?
Lisa Alexander-Griffin began her career as a writer many years ago. Multi-published, her titles range from sweet to spicy with elements of fantasy and suspense.
A North Alabama native, Lisa lives with her husband and teenage daughter. She also has two grown children who live nearby, so she can enjoy her three beautiful grandchildren quite often. When Lisa's not writing, she can be found in her garden, tending to a vast array of vegetables, which she cans, allowing her family a taste of summer year round. Other favorite pastimes are reading, quilting, spending time with her family, and fishing on the lake.
An avid reader of romance for as long as she can remember, most days you'll find her weaving tales of heartbreak and betrayal, love lost and found, and happily ever afters.
For me, reading is a big part of my life. I’m always searching for the kind of read that affects me in a way I’ll never forget. I found that book: Danielle’s Touch.
While reading, I felt like I knew these people. They could have been people in my family, my neighbours, someone who lives in my town, and would it be insane of me to say that when I finished the book and realised they weren’t real, that I was shocked? I had gone into some kind of trance, where my mind failed to separate the goings-on in the book with reality.
That is one of the best compliments I can give, to say an author convinced me these people were real. We’ve all “made friends” with characters—I know I have—but to get so embroiled in their lives to the point that when I wasn’t reading, I actually thought, “I wonder how they’re doing now? I must give them a call and check…” Wow. Yes, I nearly picked up my phone before remembering, with slap-in-the-face-like clarity, that I didn’t have Danielle’s number.
The love affair between Danielle and Ethan is all-consuming. There is someone out there who we’re meant to be with, I’m now convinced of that. Despite obstacles being placed in our way, sometimes it pays to push for that love, to hold on to it and never let go. Sometimes we’re just destined to be with a certain person.
Ms. Alexander-Griffin writes tension very well. She writes very well period, but to feel anxiety while reading the “exciting bits” (the tension/suspense, not the other kind of exciting!), where my heart pumped faster, I got chills, and I sat with my eyes bugging wondering what was coming next, shows just how much emotion I had invested in Danielle’s Touch.
There are many “Best Bits” but sadly I failed to remember them all. I was too busy reading to want to stop and write them down, but here are a few from memory:
Danielle’s inability to accept help. She wants to do things herself, as a form of control, I think—to actually have some control of her life and what she does—because she hasn’t had the choice in the past. She wants to prove to herself she can do things alone, due to her ex-husband treating her badly. He’s horrible, and to see how he affected Danielle, even though she isn’t with him anymore, was quite upsetting. No human should make another feel this way, to do what he did to her, and his actions remain with her, governing how she acts now, how she feels. I felt for her that she had been affected in this way. Sometimes, even though you separate yourself from a person, you’re still affected by them because those feelings are ingrained. This is the case here, and she has to learn to trust Ethan, to fully realise that not all men are the same.
Ethan finding that he can tell someone he loves them. He had previously thought this impossible until he loved Danielle. I loved this part.
I was frustrated by the rules of the law. When the suspense comes in and someone causes trouble, there is nothing the police can do until something more occurs. Danielle and Ethan know exactly who is out to do them harm, but until harm is done… So basically, they had to sit and wait it out, worrying and anxious that when the perpetrator next showed up he did enough to get himself arrested, but not enough to do something terribly damaging to either Danielle or Ethan.
Danielle’s Touch is a beautifully written novel with wonderful characters and rich, lovely descriptions throughout. I am just about over the fact that they aren’t my friends and that I can’t call them or pop around for dinner, but it took about a week to get to this point. Highly recommended.
I really loved this story and love the strength of Danielle to fight back to regain her life and the patience of Ethan to stand by her side and yet give her time and room. There were just a few times that the story seem to get bogged down a bit and that's what kept it from being a full on 5.0.
Danielle's Touch is ridiculously amazing! Lisa Alexander-Griffin definitely has "Blue Quill Powers" (yes, I just made that up!) because her writing pulls you into the novel and takes me on an unforgettable experience. No matter how much time passes, I will never forget my experience with Danielle's Touch!
This title is one major emotional roller coaster ride! Lisa gets our hearts racing right out the gate when Ethan, the sexy cowboy, waltzes into Danielle's decorating shop seeking a feminine touch for his old Victorian home. You can feel the burning attraction between Ethan and Danielle right away, and are filled with anticipation for the passionate romance you know will blossom in the novel.
But as quickly are you are filled with butterflies, Lisa gives us a third point of view - Danielle's ex-husband, Alex Taylor. It takes no more than two sentences to get an idea of how demented, crazy, and mean Alex is, and by the end of the first chapter, it is evident that a huge fight is going to go down between these three characters. Danielle's Touch has a pulse, a heartbeat. The pacing of the novel is at a perfect rhythm as the suspenseful scenes harmoniously balance out the romantic scenes.
I am also thrilled to read a novel that has three-dimensional characters! Ethan, Danielle, and Alex are so well-developed that they could be real people. By the end of the novel, you know each of their likes, dislikes, fears, favorite food, how they like to dress, what makes them angry, etc. The characters were executed to perfection and combined with the thrilling plot, Danielle's Touch is a hands down winner!
I also wanted to note that while domestic abuse is a part of the plot in Danielle's Touch, it never overshadows the romance between Danielle and Ethan. I really liked how Lisa handled this. She exposes this heinous crime in small bits and pieces throughout the book, but keeps her focus on Danielle's strength to break free from a bad situation, the courage to open her heart again and love a man worthy of her time and affection. Lisa says everything she needs to say about domestic abuse without having to literally say it.
I absolutely recommend that you read Danielle's Touch. This novel is more than words, it's an experience!
