Nobody said it would be easy

But Kayla Price hadn't expected it would be this hard to begin a new life with her daughter in the Texas Hill Country town of Homestead. She's excited to join the innovative Home Free program, take ownership of a parcel of land and start a vineyard - doing everything she can to revitalize the dying town.

And "everything she can" includes helping her neighbor, cowboy Ethan Ritter, set up a riding program for challenged kids.

Turns out hard labor isn't enough to make Kayla's venture a success, and she and Ethan must find out who wants her gone and why they're desperate enough to resort to sabotage.

I really liked how this book began, but by the end it was feeling more melodramatic than I like. Plus there's a big cliff hanger that apparently won't be resolved for another five books or so. Oh well, guess I'll never know who was behind all that mess...

Great story. I especially loved the whole working with handicapped kids and horses!

This book was closer to a 3.5 star rating. It was emotional and brought tears to my eyes more than once. The romance was very low key. The characters were great people with big hearts the size of Texas.
I would have preferred more romance and a more complete ending.
