First read this way, way back in the day as a teenager. Classic murder cases are recounted by a former CID man turned crime reporter, Tom Tullet and although it reads as rather dated today, it still provides an informative narrative on the likes of Crippen, the Krays etc.

Along with always fascinating killers like Crippen (wife buried in the cellar), Major Armstrong ("dandelion" poisoner) and the notorious Kray brothers, this is also an interesting history of Scotland Yard's Murder Squad.
