This text provided useful information about using social media for learning. However, it is over 12 years old and would be improved with a new edition that updates the material on each social media tool featured. The images and instructions provided would be especially helpful for educators and trainers who do not regularly use social media and are unfamiliar with the different tools available.

Many trainers and educators are now examining or using social media tools to support their work in the classroom. When starting to learn about new tools, there is often a steep learning curve; you must not only learn how to use the features of the tool, but you must also figure out how to use it in an educational setting. Jane Bozarth's book, Social Media for Trainers: Techniques for Enhancing and Extending Learning*, will help you get a jump start on the second problem... how to use the tools in an educational setting. I think this book provides a good foundation for understanding how social media techniques and technologies can be applied in the training world. I think the book is a bit outdated so it doesn't have some of the latest apps, but it provides enough of a base to help you create a strategy. I especially like that for each technology or technique, the book provides some suggestions for application in the classroom.

This book is practical and very, very basic. It's perfect for anyone who is timid about using social networks for professional purposes.

Slightly dated, but that can't be helped. Some interesting suggestions for how to use social media and Web 2.0 as tools in between and after your training "events". A quick read and recommended.
