She'd often dreamed about him coming back, with a baby in his arms. And now, Cisco del Norte was home. But the baby he carried couldn't possibly be theirs.
Still, Easton Springhill got part of her wish. The man she could never stop loving was back, even for just a little while—with a serious injury, a beautiful baby girl and an explanation about them both that was as flimsy as his excuse for leaving years before. And after five long years of trying to forget him, Easton was faced with a love him—and that little girl—while she had them, or save herself and get away while the getting was good.
Because there was no way she'd be able to escape with her heart a second time…
I'm not one of those people who knew from birth she was destined to become a writer. I always loved to read and throughout my childhood I could usually be found with a book in my hands. To the disgust of my friends, I even enjoyed creative writing assignments that made them all groan. But I had other dreams besides writing. I wanted to be an actress or a teacher or a lawyer.
Life took a different turn for me, though, when my mother made me take a journalism elective in high school (thanks, Mom!). I knew the first day that this was where I belonged.
After I graduated from college in journalism, I took a job at the local daily newspaper and I reveled in the challenge and the diversity of it. One day I could be interviewing the latest country music star, the next day I was writing about local motorcycle gangs or interviewing an award-winning scientist.
Through it all -- through the natural progression of my career from reporter to editor -- I wrote stories in my head. Not just any stories, either, but romances, the kind of books I have devoured since junior high school, with tales about real people going through the trials and tribulations of life until they find deep and lasting love.
I had no idea how to put these people on paper, but knew I had to try -- their stories were too compelling for me to ignore. I sold my first book in 1995 and now, more than 30 books later, I've come to love everything about writing, from the click of the computer keys under my fingers to the "that's-it!" feeling I get when a story is flowing.
I write full-time now (well, as full-time as I can manage juggling my kids!) amid the raw beauty of the northern Utah mountains.
Even though I might not have dreamed of being a writer when I was younger, now I simply can't imagine my life any other way.

RaeAnne Thayne knows how to pull you in so that you put everything aside and sit down to read . Cisco del Norte and Easton Springhill were both in foster care in their younger days and they ended up in the same home. Little did each other know that a spark was light in each of their hearts. It was a very bumpy and rocky road to their happy ever after. I really enjoyed their tale and wished it didn't have to end.
Renegade’s Pride: A Cahill Ranch Novel is by B.J. Daniels. It takes place in Gilt Edge, Montana on the Cahill Ranch. Lillian Cahill has had nine years to forget Trask Beaumont. She had been in love with him and was even willing to leave Gilt Edge for him. That would have meant leaving the town and home she loved as well as her four brothers and her father. For Trask, however, she would have given it up; but he left town without her and without an explanation as to why. He also left under the suspicion of murder. Her brother, Flint, was the sheriff and wanted Trask for questioning. However, for nine years, Lillian has been unable to forget him. Now he has returned. Why? Ely Cahill was a true mountain man. He had given up his ownership of the Cahill Ranch to his children and had taken off into the mountains. Why the mountains called to him so much or if he went to the mountains to forget, no one, not even Ely really knew. What he did know what that when he returned to Gilt Edge to see his children, he avoided a portion of the ranch which had been given to the United States to place missile silos on. He believed he had been picked up there by aliens and taken to their ship then returned. Now he believed he was being followed. It seems that every time he returns and cuts through this portion of the ranch that something weird happened and the aliens returned. This time was no different. Flint Cahill believed something had to be done about their father. He seemed to be going off the deep end. He had mentioned it to his siblings; but they didn’t agree. But his father was the least of his worries. He was trying to take his relationship with Maggie to the next step; but his ex-wife seems to be interfering. What was going on? She was the one who left him and married a rich man in town. Why would his ex-wife want to interfere with Maggie? This book is a true mix of the lives of the Cahills. Their stories seem to be completely separate but are all intertwined. This makes for an interesting and exciting book.
Well, that was a nice change of pace. Finally, a sweet read that gave me more smiles than heartburn. While I had some issues with the grammar, I found the story and characters to be quite engaging. Plus, there were a few well-delivered twists that just about ripped my heart out. Definitely my kind of romance.
Update 9/3/19 - second read Just as good as the first time! I've read all three books about the "Four Winds" now and Cisco and Easton's story is hands down my favorite.
This is the first book that I read from this author. It was a heartwarming story that tugged a bit at my heartstrings. I loved Easton because I felt li
This book is #8 in the Cowboys of Cold Creek series. It is the story of Easton and Cisco; and second chances. Easton often thought about Sisco coming back to the ranch. She has even dreamt about it. Now he is back, but he is not alone. He has brought a baby with him this time; a baby that is not his. The baby girl, Belle, is the daughter of two of his friends who were killed. He has brought the baby so it can be raised by Belle's Aunt. While Easton is understanding of Cisco's explanation of his return and for the baby, she has a choice to make. She has never stopped loving him; has loved him since she was 9. She is glad he is back but fears once Belle is safely delivered into her Aunt's arms, he will leave just as he had before. She is not sure she can stand losing him or her heart for a second time. I really enjoyed this story of second chances. I am glad that things worked out the way they did in the story.
I received this book with my monthly Harlequin Desire's a couple months ago...I didn't think I would read it but am glad that I did. Easton is running the ranch that she grew up on with her aunt, uncle and three adopted boys...The third being Cisco that she fell in love with the minute she saw him..He had done the same to her..but lots of years and Cisco working undercover left them apart..Each fighting their feelings for each other..when Cisco comes back and has a child East's life is turned upside down...She doesn't want him there but is happy he is...She falls in love with the little baby girl they have had there for 4 days..she is fighting falling for her as it brings memories of her little baby she lost that no one knows about...Can East and Cisco find a way to make it work? A beautiful love story of love and redemption
My second time reading this book... the first time was in a different cover. This is one of the more memorable in the "Cowboys of Cold Creek" series for me. I've remembered the 'big reveal' scene by the lake since the first time I read this story maybe 8 years ago.
There's an unfortunate issue in the first chapter when Easton picks up a shotgun and shells "and loaded one each in the dual chambers." In other words, it's a double-barreled shotgun... but then on page 14 it says that she pumped a shell "into the Benelli's barrel in that unmistakable che-che sound..." which implies that it is a single-barrel, pump action (or perhaps semi-auto) gun. Just makes me wish this was edited a little more closely.
Started this morning, read all day, and finished it. Easton lived on a ranch with her aunt and uncle, since her mother died, and the aunt and uncle brought in boys who didn't have any family's either. There was Brant, Trace and Cisco and they were all different. When the aunt and uncle had died they gave 51% to Easton and the boys got equal parts of the rest of it.
Well Cisco ended up being a Marine then recruited by the government as an undercover federal agent as in narcoterrorism unit, getting the bad guys and he'd been doing it for over 10 years. He'd always loved Easton, and she finally told him she loved him too! Nice surprises.
A Cold Creek Baby is a timeless story of loving even while feeling unworthy. Cisco is a man who runs from his home into the arms of demons. I loved Cisco because he sacrificed so much and may lose the one woman who is his life. Easton is a strong woman who can be frustrating at moments but the character is a true rendition of a rancher no matter gender. Delane Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More
A Cold Creek Baby is a Harlequin hometown Hearts book. It is a second chance romance. Cisco del Norte has returned home to Idaho where he grew up as a foster child in Easton Springhill's aunt and uncle's house. He has arrived accompanied with a baby girl. Her parents are both recently deceased and he is bringing her to live with her aunt and uncle. Both Cisco and Easton have major secrets that need to be told and explained. This is a sweet story. Thayne does a good job of describing the main characters so that it feels like we know them.
Cisco del Norte became a secret operative in the Southern Hemisphere so he wasn't able to come home often. The foster sister he knew growing up, Easton Springhill, has loved him for years. When he finally comes home with a baby she is thrown for a loop yet falls in love with the baby.
Another great RaeAnne Thayne story. I love all the Cold Creek stories.
RaeAnne Thayne writes a winner every time. I love her bookd, the characters, the storylines. I Things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes they are even better.
For a short 200 page book it amazes me how Ms. Thayne can evoke such emotion. Twice I felt myself choke up. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and can't wait to read the next.
Struggled to finish this one. Liked the other books in this series, but just couldn’t like Cisco. All the “secrets” were totally obvious from the beginning and the angst seemed forced. Skip this one. Read the others.
Love all of the Cold Creek books. This one mad me cry a lot but it was a great read. So glad Easton and Cisco found their way back to each other and they got to keep little Belle.
