“I’m blown away…” —Coy Hall, author of The Hangman Feeds
Join Sarah Jane Huntington for a “brilliant” and “exciting” tour of the horror, science fiction, and dark fantasy genres from Victorian England to Japan to the depths of space and beyond.
A space vessel approaches the impossible. The sins of humanity fail to be left behind. Rural exploration takes a dark turn. A lonely girl finds her true home at great cost. A killer is loose in a small village.

This is my favorite book so far of 2023, and one of the best collections I have ever read. I loved all the stories, but my favorites were "One Sunny Day," "Very Bad Things," and "Twilight." If you haven't read Huntington, WAVES OF MUTILATION would be an excellent place to start. This one gets all the stars from me.
Really loved this collection from Sarah Jane Huntington. Such an easy and engaging read from start to finish. Truly diverse stories. Ones that will touch your heart to ones that will shock. Loved all the little author notes, too. Proper storytelling right here. Can't recommend this one enough.
So many great stories in here. I think my favourites were the sci fi ones, but every one spoke to me. Sarah Jane Huntington has a way with words and makes you think. She manages to say something touching, or thoughtful and even profound, all while making you cringe or hide under the covers. I don't tend to read collections of short stories often, but this one was well worth it.
This was started out a little slow for me but it picked up as it went on. The stories just got better and better! The last one Isn't a horror story But it's a real tear jerker!
Two versions of this book exist on GR. I wasn't certain which book to leave my review on. This book is outstanding and contains tales of TRUE space horror akin to Event Horizon. The writing is beautifully realistic and quite uncomfortable at times because the words speak to the darker aspects we each have.
What an absolutely delightful find. I love short stories and expected a quick read and maybe a spooky twist or two. However, the stories found here were more than I could hope for and had a bit of everything. If you want to unplug abit and get totally lost in other worlds, I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read more from Sarah Jane Huntington!!!!
This is a book of absolutely brilliant short stories, I have read this a number of times and what always stands out is the quality of writing, this has a great way of explaining the scenes that make you feel you are there. All tales are really enjoyable, I couldn't pick out a poor story.
I love anthologies, little stories that you don't have to stay up all night to find out what happens. This was a perfect variety of mystery, sci-fi, horror and fairies, I can't wait to read more!
I'm a huge fan of Huntington's short stories, and this collection is phenomenal. Creepy and disturbing, the stories in this collection will stick with you. If you want unsettling tales and bad dreams, pick this up.
