Fiction. Poetry. Multimedia. NORTHWEST EDGE III: THE END OF REALITY, edited by Andy Mingo, Trevor Dodge and Lidia Yuknavitch, is the third anthology from Chiasmus Press, Portland, Oregon's independent publisher committed to interweaving the textual and the visual. These Chiasmus anthologies reflect the press' belief that certain forms of fiction and art represent civil society's challenging of the state--that shifts in media are simultaneously the indices and catalysts of social change. In addition to a host of short stories and poems, the book includes a compilation video and film DVD of Northwest filmmakers. Inside NORTHWEST EDGE III language breaks down and reorganizes itself, stories pulse plot open, and images get it on with words. Includes fiction by Rebecca Brown, Lance Olsen and Stacey Levine, as well as the film works of Karl Lind, Holly Andres, and many others.
Andy Mingo is a Portland-based director and producer whose work has gained recognition at national and international film festivals and screenings. His most recent film, ‘Romance’ was adapted from a story by ‘Fight Club’ author, Chuck Palahniuk. ‘Romance’ made its world premiere at the 2012 Raindance Film Festival and went on to screen at Cinequest, the Seattle True Independent Film Festival, and the 2013 Portland Film Festival. In 2012 Andy was invited to the Paris-Sorbonne University where he lectured on the process of adapting Chuck Palahniuk’s fiction to the screen. He is now in pre-production for the adaptation of Palahniuk's award-winning novel, LULLABY.
