Aubrey Rose here. After three short years of marriage, I’m single and back in Willow Cove…living with my mother as co-owner of a bed and breakfast. I knew there would be surprises in store but the handyman’s dog unearthing human bones in the rose garden wasn’t on my list. The town police chief isn’t concerned about the remains and the locals aren’t talking. The handyman, Gavin, is my only help in solving this mystery. As we dig up new clues, more town secrets are revealed. Maybe these bones, and the enigma surrounding them, should have remained buried.

I just loved this book and I'm crazy about the revised covers too! I had the old covers in my Goodreads WTR, but after doing an ASIN search and finding this one, I quickly replaced it since this is the version I read. Just from seeing the old covers, it looks like there'll be a few more in the series, and I'm super excited about that because I just love these characters! Gavin and Aubrey cracked me up with their bickering at first and I was thinking, ok you two, you know you're gonna be like the cute couples in my favorite network's Christmas rom-com movies that finally get together after being all grinchy. ;)
I got a suspicion about part of the whodunit and was right about that but not quite everything. It was a great twist at the end and the showdown was at least the non-dangerous kind. The ending made me happy and I absolutely can't wait to read the next book. Gavin and Aubrey made a pretty amazing sleuth team!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the author via BookSprout, and my opinions are my own.
A light cozy mystery that hits all the right buttons.
Aubrey has lost everything when her first marriage ends and has return to her home town to stay with her mother, who operates The Rose Inn. Gavin is the handy man at the inn. He has a terrier by the name of Curly and he also has lost everything in his first marriage. After bones are found in the garden at the inn, Aubrey and Gavin team up to try and solve the mystery of the bones.
The characters are charming and fun to read. The plot was simple, yet quite entertaining. The writing flowed in it’s simplicity, and is the perfect book to curl up with when you want a quick read for the evening.

Buried Skeletons, a No Good Cheating Ex-Husband, and a Handsome Handyman!
by Barbara Kelley
"A Case of Garden Bones" is book 1 of the Willow Cove Mysteries, written by Lily Rose Lane. This is a really great start to a new series about a young woman who has left her lying, cheating, thieving ex-husband, and returned home to her mother and the mother's Bed & Breakfast. Audrey's ex-husband got everything in the divorce settlement, even though he's the one who cheated on her. It's because he's rich enough to do so. Aubrey moves in with her mom because she has nowhere else to go. There's a handsome handyman named Gavin (I just love that name)who has known Aubrey for quite awhile. He calls her Grace because she's kinda clumsy, and she calls him Bolts because he's always doing carpentry around the Bed & Breakfast. Gavin has the cutest little wire-haired terrier with a distinctive over bite, named Curly. One day, while Gavin is pulling weeds in the rose garden, he and Curly find more than just weeds: they find two skeletons - human skeletons. Who are these dead people? When Aubrey starts investigating who the bones belong to, everybody changes the subject. All the gossipy ladies at the hair salon said rumor had it that they were animal bones and probably buried pets, but Aubrey thinks they're lying. Why else would they continually change the subject? Mrs. Amy is the lady that sole the Bed & Breakfast to Aubrey's mom and dad over twenty years ago when her sister and brother-in-law left to go on a world trip and never returned. Both Aubrey and Gavin continue their investigation into the buried bones. However, that's not Aubrey's only problem. It seems as though Aubrey's mom put Aubrey's name on the deed to the Bed & Breakfast after Aubrey's divorce was finalized. Now Graham, the lying, cheating thieving no good ex-husband, is trying to steal the Bed & Breakfast from Aubrey and her mom. I really loved this book and will be reading Book 2 next. I gave this book 5 stars.
Aubrey Rose, after three short years of marriage to a cheating husband, returns home to Willow Cove, Georgia, to help her widowed mother run the town's B&B. When their handyman Gavin's dog Curly digs up some bones in the rose garden, they discover they're human. But when the sheriff doesn't seem to care about the case, the two decide to form a partnership to find out who was killed and why. After all, if it wasn't murder, why would they be buried there?
But no one in town seems to know who they are, and if they do, they aren't telling Aubrey. So they take what little clues they have, and try to find out the truth. Aubrey also discovers that the handyman she thought she hated isn't so bad, and they have more in common than she could ever have imagined...
This is the first book in a new series, and I must say that I enjoyed it quite a bit. Ms. Lane is a talented writer, and she's given her first turn in the cozy mystery genre an interesting twist. Yes, the protagonist has returned home penniless and in need, but the mystery is gleaning clues throughout the book, and using each one to fill out the truth.
It's a fun read, and I'm glad I had the chance to read it. The beginning of this series gives the murder a twist that no one might have seen coming (I only did because I read a lot of these); and is worth sitting down and taking a chance on this book. I look forward to the next in the series. Recommended.
I was given an advance copy through the author and Booksprout, but this in no way influenced my review.
I enjoyed this fun cozy mystery and think it is off to a good start. I did know who the killer was and the plot twist came as no surprise but that could just be because I read a lot of cozy mysteries and picked up on the clue. Otherwise the mystery was interesting, it could have done with a few more suspects but I liked the characters and the chemistry between the main character and the handyman. Look forward to the next mystery and seeing how the budding romance takes off. The drama with the ex husband had me smirking, I love it when the underdogs stand-up for themselves. Oh the dog was pretty cute too. With the break up of her marriage Aubrey returns home to help her mother run her bed and breakfast. Instead when the handyman and his dog unearth two sets of bones she finds herself investigating a murder. The police don't want to know as the bones could have been there forever and the usual gossipy villagers won't talk about either. Worried the bones will put off guest coming to stay Aubrey decides even if nobody else cards she does. By looking into the last can she uncover who the bones belong to and who would want to kill them? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Aubrey Rose has returned to Willow Cove to live with her mother to help run her bed and breakfast after a short marriage of three years. Her ex took everything and left her with nothing after she caught him cheating with his secretary. She has met Gavin who works as the handyman at the inn, and she has taken a dislike to immediately, so they are always spitting words at each other until Gavin uncovers two sets of human bones under the rose bushes, he is digging around. They call the police chief, and he doesn’t seem too bothered by the fact that there was a murder committed. Also, no one in town will talk about it either. This town definitely has a secret. Aubrey decides she will try to figure out who the missing people are and soon Gavin comes to her aid. Will the two of them solve this mystery? Also, her ex is now suing for the inn claiming she didn't have it listed as a family asset. What more could go wrong.

I'm honestly not sure why I kept reading this book, except that I hadn't any others in my "To Be Read" folder at the time. It's a very trite romance thinly disguised as a mystery, with so many holes in the plot that if it were three-dimensional it would look like a sieve.
Okay, spoilers ahead.
Give me strength.
Actually, I'm not sure why I gave the book two stars. Maybe because I actually finished it, and found few typos or errors in grammar. Because this mishmash really only deserved one star.
Aubrey Rose had wasted enough time on her cheating husband and returns home single and broke and ready to help her mom run the local Bed & Breakfast. Gavin is their handyman, and his dog Curly energetically dug up human bones in the garden! Oddly, however, the Sheriff has no interest in looking into this. And the townspeople are not very helpful either. So Aubrey and Gavin investigate on their own. Apparently the town has some secrets it would rather have kept hidden! Will Aubrey and Gavin track down whoever murdered the two victims buried in the garden? Will their new “partnership” in investigating bring them closer? And what is Aubrey’s low-life ex-husband, who took everything from her already when they divorced, now trying to get his greedy hands on?
A Case of Garden Bones is book #1 in the Willow Cove Mysteries series by Lily Rose Lane.
Aubrey Rose is 29 and recently divorced. She moves back home to live with her mother at the B&B she owns. Gavin, the handyman, has a dog that unearths some bones. Since no one is investigating, Aubrey and Gavin team up.
This was an ok book. I never warmed up to Aubrey. She seemed immature for 29 and there was too much blushing between Aubrey and Gavin for me. The mystery seemed weak, but had a surprise twist at the end that made it interesting. The police’s involvement or lack there of was bad even for fictional police. There were things that happened at the end that will have me reading the next book.

Judging by other reviews I seem to be the odd one out, but this book, while it wasn’t bad at all, didn’t manage to grab my attention and hold it. It was seemingly perfectly fine, yet it failed to spark that feeling of excitement. I have to say it is well written. The vibe cozy. The overall feel pleasant. But for me it felt a bit ‘a dime a dozen’. Plus, the police chief’s behavior frustrated me to a point where I felt it was too unrealistic. The solution lacked a bit of suspense. But, yes, there was a surprise, that was good! But in the end, Aubrey never managed to fully capture me, it just wasn’t totally my taste. And that’s what it comes down to: taste. It wasn’t to mine, but judging by many others, it might be to yours!
A Case of Garden Bones is the first book in the Willow Cove Mysteries. I have to say I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Aubrey and Gavin was so much fun to read. Here’s to hoping that they keep moving forward working well together. Curly is adorable dog and I hope he’s in each of the proceeding books. If you love good cozy mysteries and you want to read something a little bit different than the normal cozy murder mystery, you’ll love this book/series. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out. Totally recommend this book!.

Aubrey Rose has moved back to Willow Cove after a disastrous marriage and is helping her mother run her bed and breakfast. Ever since she moved back, her mother’s handyman Gavin has been nothing but a source of irritation. When Gavin’s dog digs up two skeletons in the rose garden and the police don’t seem too interested in investigating, Aubrey teams up with Gavin to try to solve the mystery of who they were and how they came to be in the garden. Will they be able to put their differences aside and work together to solve this mystery? Charming characters and a unique storyline make for a very enjoyable read. I hope these characters will be back for more adventures!
Newly divorced from a ex that left her destitute, Aubrey heads home to Willow Cove, GA, where her mom owns The Rose Inn B&B. But not long after arriving, Gavin the handyman finds human skeletons while weeding the rose garden! The police don’t seem interested in figuring out who the bones belonged to, but Aubrey decides she needs to investigate. Although she has a live/hate relationship with Gavin, he winds up being helpful and they join forces. An interesting double murder mystery with a surprising ending you won’t see coming! The Willow Cove mystery series gets off to a good start with A Case of Garden Bones. Twenty-nine year old Aubrey Rose has returned to Willow Cove, Georgia and her mom's bed and breakfast after her marriage fails due to her husband's cheating. When the current handyman, Gavin Cooper, discovers bones and skeletons of two human remains buried in the rose garden, it's time to solve the murders. Aubrey and Gavin put their differences aside and team up to do some sleuthing since Officer Hank Dobbs doesn't seem very interested in the case. This is a cute cozy that's a quick read. It should be fun to see what Aubrey gets up to next.
Two stars. Aubrey moves back home and gets tangled up in a murder investigation at her mom's B&B. There is a cute handyman and an awesome dog. The actual mystery parts were ok but the story dragged for me as it was more telling the story instead of letting it unfold. Gavin was so snarky and rude that I would have slapped him-why is Aubrey attracted to this jerk? It got better as the plot moved along but I still didn't 'get it' over the romance part of the book. It was a fairly good first book in a new series, I was given a copy for review.
Get yourself comfortable, cup of coffee in hand and a few snacks and you are ready to dive into this fantastic cozy mystery. A B&B, rose gardens with bones, an inquisitive dog and a sexy handyman to help solve the clues what more could Aubrey Rose ask for? Shrouded in mystery and suspense, no one is talking about the remains so it’s up to Gavin & Aubrey to unearth the secrets and solve the mystery in this fun and lighthearted read!
This is a great cozy mystery that will keep you turning the pages. It is full of twists and turns as Aubrey and Galvin try to solve the mystery of the bones found in the rose garden. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good clean cozy mystery.

This is the second book in this series that I have read but it won't be the last. This author knows to tell a cozy mystery and to want you to keep reading till the end.
This is a fun cozy mystery. I really enjoyed getting to know Gavin and Aubrey and their love/hate for each other in the beginning. I look forward to more in this series.
Aubrey is back home in Willow Cove after a devastating betrayal by her husband and subsequent divorce. Living at home, her Mom's bed and breakfast, is not what she envisioned for herself, especially with a very annoying handyman who seems to relish picking on her. And then things really get strange, while digging up some roses, Gavin finds two skeletons. Calling the police who don't seem very concerned about this discovery, Aubrey decides it up to her to find out who they were and why they were buried in the backyard. But will the town let that happen? Everybody seems to have a secret to keep. Quick read, interesting characters, although Aubrey and Gavin acted more like teens then adults. Nice cozy mystery. Aubrey Rose has moved home to help her mother run her inn after the failure of her marriage and disaster of a settlement in the divorce. while sh loves her mother she does not get along with the gardener/handyman Gavin, although he has a sweet dog named Curly. While digging in the rose bed the dog and his master unearth two sets of human remains. The police are called but the response fro Sheriff hank is lackadaisical at best, negligent at worst. So Aubrey decides she should look into the mystery to keep the inn's reputation clear. An interesting story and an easy read. I look forward to the next adventure for Aubrey and Gavin. Aubrey discovers she and ex military intelligence now handyman Gavin might have more in common than she thought
sneaky divorce tactics, challenges with trust and esteem, and the need to start over are a few things they might share - beyond a bit of animosity, and an apparent curiosity that could be lethal
tricky tactics on the part of her ex Kael could jeopardize the inn
grisly reminders of the past pop up in the rose garden
if smart sleuthing cannot solve the murders and the property quandaries, more troubles lie ahead.

Fun, clean mystery by Lily Rose Lane. Aubrey is back in Willow Cove, newly single and living with her mother at their bed and breakfast. When the handyman, Gavin’s, dog uncovers human bones, she and Gavin team up to try to solve the murders since the local police aren’t interested. They haven’t really gotten along since she moved back, but decide to put all that behind them in search of clues. The more they look into things the more they realize there are a lot of secrets in town that someone doesn’t want found out.

After moving home to her mother’s inn after a bad divorce, Aubrey finds that she dislikes, Gavin, the handyman. That is until two bodies are dug up and the two of them get together to try to solve a 20 plus year murder.
I really enjoyed this book. Watching the relationship between Aubrey and Gavin change was so much fun. Here’s hoping they keep moving forward together. Curly is adorable and I hope he’s in each book.
If you love cozies and you want something a little different than the normal cozy murder, you’ll love this book. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

This is a cute and entertaining cozy mystery with great characters and a cute dog. Aubrey has returned to Willow Cove to help her mother run a bed and breakfast after a horrible divorce. She doesn't plan on becoming involved in a decades old mystery or finding a new love, but you never know what is going to happen, right?

New to me author. Really enjoyed this first book in a new series. Fun quirky characters, well written story with some laugh out loud moments and a beautiful setting (minus the bones of course). I look forward to reading more.
A series starter, Aubrey and Galvin are working together to solve an old mystery. The characters are very likeable and I love the setting in the small town at the Bed and Breakfast Inn. The mystery had a twist along with interesting suspects.
