When hockey fan Christina Mackey prevents a murder attempt aimed at her idol Jason Petersen, the hockey scene she'd always worshiped from the outside suddenly surrounds her. She's not sure she wants to be part of that world--too much testosterone--but her attraction for Jason is too strong. Jason is shocked to discover his girlfriend Sheila is behind the attempt on his life and quickly breaks off their relationship. But vengeance has no greater weapon than a woman scorned. As Jason's feelings grow toward the widow who saved him, his past threatens not only their happiness, but Christina's innocent daughter as well.
When an assassination attempt is made on hockey star Jason Peterson during a game, Christina MacKay finds herself caught in the crossfire. Jason wants to thank the woman who helped save others at put herself in jeopardy, not realizing that he would find an instant kismet with her and her young daughter. What he hopes will be the beginning of a new relationship with the one he hopes could be the one, quickly becomes marred by an ex-girlfriend who doesn't seem to understand they are through leaving a wake of destruction in her path and a new threat to Christina.
Begins with a bang, sucked in and eager to find out what happens next until about 3/4 in and then it gets a little slow but the story works for the most part. I give it 3.75, I liked all the characters but never quite understood what the motivation for his ex was and Jason's reluctance to see how she really was took awhile. If you like hockey stories worth reading.
I just finished reading Bad Ice and really enjoyed it. It's a romance, hockey story, mystery, suspense thriller... all rolled into one. It was a fun and exciting read.
These types of books keep me reading because I can't tolerate seeing people in distress. I want to get to the HEA. The author had me nervous and turning pages from the start. Good job.
I particularly enjoyed Ms. Cormier’s ability to add background information and necessary detail without slowing the story down. She also described the setting and scenery beautifully. The addition of sights, sounds, and smells along with emotion and action were very well done. It brought me further into the story.
Jason, the main character, was the strong, sensitive type. A few times this bordered on gullible and a bit unbelievable, but nothing too terrible. The storyline was woven well and contained a great evil villain - Sheila.
The side characters were well fleshed out and their personalities shined.
Bad Ice was an enjoyable read and I encourage the author to write more stories in this genre and style. I will gladly load them on my Kindle.
Bad Ice is an electrifying tale, using professional hockey as a backdrop. Christina, taking her daughter to a hockey game, ends up stopping a gunman from murdering hockey star Jason Petersen. Sheila, an ex-girlfriend of Jason’s, launches an incredibly complex series of psychopathic attacks against Jason, and eventually Christina and her daughter Mishayla. Sheila’s insane plots to draw Jason back to her lead to near disaster and death for everyone Jason cares about. Bad Ice eerily blends love, insanity, and hockey together in a fast paced ride from beginning to end.
I really enjoyed this book. Perfect blend of Hot hockey dude & woman wanting to give into love. Love the banter between the guy friends and the "villain" was someone you'll love to hate & cheer when.... go read it & find out. :)
The author brings the exciting world of professional hockey alive so well that I imagined I was at actual games, and, of course, the ups and downs of the romance were irresistible, as was the murder at the heart of this superb and highly recommended novel!
This was not to my taste, it turned out. Competently written, but amps up the Everything! Is! Dramatic! quotient way past where my suspension of disbelief will go. The switching POVs didn't really work for me, either, though I guess starting a book from the POV of the soon-to-be-dead attempted murderer is, uh, a choice?
