Thankfully my marriage hasn’t dealt with infidelity, but I found this book to be an incredible book to build your marriage. I heard Cindy speak on a podcast and her husband is a pastor at my church. I was curious to hear more about their testimony and also found this book to be useful if I am ever in a position to minister to others in the future. I definitely feel like this book has given me a perspective that I would not have naturally chosen and hopefully set me up to share God’s word in a different way in the future as God can restore anything.

This book started out really good, but in the later chapters, I feel that the author became a little condescending. Overall, it was a good book and helped with some healing I've needed. I would recommend it to anyone who's dealt with betrayal of any kind in their marriage, from infidelity (not our issue) to alcoholism and all that entails (our issue).

Whoa, God was definitely a part of this, thanks Cindy.

Whoa!!!!!! She touched on EVERYTHING , God really have her all the answers for what we go through, emotionally as well, I'm in awe. My husband too battled with porn addiction and we honestly played ring around the rosie's several times before this time which I just knew was the end. At this point it has only been a few weeks out for me as far as his big debut, so we're in our healing process, honestly so much has happened in this few weeks. I'm actually going to stand on what God said tou you Cindy about "not being a fool to take part in a man's redemptive process". I might be writing a book soon, lolol, be blessed. This book will definitely play
an intricate part to assist in anybodys healing.

A respected friend of mine recently posted a link to her FB page from Focus on the Family. The link represented the story of Chris and Cindy Beall, a couple who had experienced deep hurt and betrayal in their marriage. Although, by the grace of God, I haven't experienced this in my own marriage, it is a subject that is very real in the lives of many people. After listening to their story, I wanted to learn more, so I read the book. Very valuable information here. A must-read regarding a very delicate and painful journey in a marriage. Offers real hope and practical guidance for those who find themselves in a similar place.

Healing Your Marriage When Trust Is Broken by Cindy Beall was originally written many years ago and has now been updated and expanded. I love that message is the same throughout this book, you can trust God through the betrayal you are feeling. Cindy talks about the deep betrayal of her husband’s pornography addiction that later led to her husband, who happened to be a pastor, to have a baby with a mistress. She explains the process of the initial grief and the redeeming work of God’s hand in their marriage.

I love that this book is filled with authenticity and vulnerability. Cindy is not shy about the hard work it takes to be committed to marriage. The Beall’s testimony is an example of what is possible with God and a servanthood marriage after devastation. Their marriage is a work of God and what it means that He exchanges beauty for ashes.

Overall, Healing Your Marriage When Your Trust is Broken is a unique book that can help guide hurting marriages back to the healer Himself. The only downside to parts of the book are there is uses of “get over it” and “move on” that could be hurtful to those who are just learning of their spouses betrayal. You can see Cindy’s heart throughout the book is not the same language that is conveyed overall. The strongest parts of the book are the questions that were asked to other couples that had also endured broken trust. To have a variety of backgrounds and different scenarios reaches a greater audience.

Overall, Healing Your Marriage When Trust Is Broken (Updated & Expanded) has very helpful tools for those who are just beginning to walk in their healing journey and marriages 10 years in alike. I do recommend this book to spouses who are hurting after marriage betrayal. I do advise those reading to continue you reading past the hard to hear parts of this book. It seems Cindy’s heart is one who sympathizes deeply with those who have been hurt. However, at different parts of the book it can be taken as someone who is telling you to just get over it or there is no hope for the couples who don’t have a spouse as willing to work at marriage recovery. I encourage you if you continue to read, you will see that her heart is to help.

Bottom line, this book is a reminder that you are not alone, marriage restoration is possible, and God is trustworthy, no matter where you are in your recovery journey.

I’m so excited because my broken marriage has been restored & my husband is back after he left me and our 2 kids for another woman. I could not help but feel compassion for Cindy and admiration of the courage she had to trust God even when her husband did the ultimate sin and got another woman pregnant with his child. I will live and die by the mantra whatever is meant to be will be and I was in awe of the road Cindy took by having the determination to repair her marriage rather than never forgiving her husband, filing for divorce and letting him go. Others I know would have gone that path and regretted it for the rest of their lives and would have wasted so many years to find happiness again. Cindy saw the value in herself, trust in God and believed that their marriage happened for a reason. This book even if you are not Christian would be beneficial for some tips to help you live a happier life.

We will consider adding this title to our Self Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Healing Your Marriage When Trust is Broken is a good book sharing Cindy’s experience. For those in this unthinkable situation, it is helpful to hear someone else’s experience. Unfortunately, it's presented as if no one can “top” her betrayal situation since she was a pastor’s wife and her husband got another woman pregnant. “If I can overcome this, you can too” could feel like no one could have an experience that's “worse” than hers. There are also places where she states unusual thoughts such as a couple may not experience betrayal but an equally devastating issue. I'm not sure something else could equate. Betrayal would seem to be the highest. It destroys wedding vows and trust. Other hardships such as health, loss of a loved one, difficulties with a child, etc. are incredibly difficult, but don’t destroy the most sacred trust and commitment one made. If someone was fresh inside their betrayal experience, hearing that they need to stay in their marriage unless God has called them out of it could be offputting.

Would I recommend this book to someone in this situation? Probably not at first, but maybe after some time has passed and some other more sensitive books were read first.

I found it preachy and tedious. What I mean by that, is that the suggestions were generally abstract and spiritual instead of concrete and practical. And while Beall makes some attempt to avoid presenting her story as a universal standard, she often skims over things that would be pertinent in situations that differ from hers. The descriptions of what she felt were the most interesting and useful part of the book.

Amazing story and testimony! Much more a story than a topical exploration, but there are surely lessons in here.

I came here to learn more about how to love my wife (and better empathize with a female perspective) across all matters of broken trust—from smaller things like being just 60 seconds late to the bigger failures of mine throughout our relationship, and this book definitely grew me in that area.

To all who read this: Have faith—things can be worked out. Cheating is never justifiable, and many don’t realize how deeply it can hurt a partner. It’s a way of dealing with infidelity thru God’s eyes. It’s the struggle of a couple who actually win this battle over themselves.
