"I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God." Abraham Lincoln

Our world displays the handiwork of God all around us--in the land and sea, the animals and the plants. But in respect to the sky, the heavens, the universe...there's a realm of beauty and creation man has not been able to witness, until now. "The Heavens Proclaim His Glory" is a compilation of stunning photography taken by NASA's Hubble(R) Telescope capturing striking images of stars, galaxies, cosmic events, planets, and more. Vivid up-close photographs are paired with a romantic Psalm or quote, as well as a short description of the image. "The Heavens" will open up a whole new world of worship and praise for our God.

Contributors include: Francis Chan, Mike Huckabee, John MacArthur, Stephen Mansfield, Sarah Young, Max Lucado, Jenna Lucado, Henry & Richard Blackaby, Robert Morgan, Kirk Cameron, Homer Hickam, and more.

Beautiful. Emotional. Bringing together science and astronomy, via breathtaking photos from the Hubble telescope with scripture and quotes on faith. Five stars of love from me, because it touched my soul and it was absolutely beautiful. I will certainly revisit this beautiful book in the future.

Excellent. Combining Hubble Deep Space photographs with scripture and commentary. Would have been even better "coffee table" sized, if the images could have been as sharp but larger, too.

Beautiful. Strangely, this book works well as a pictorial devotional book - if we can invent a category. If you have morning time devoted to prayer/Bible study, I recommend that you tackle two or three pages of this book with it. These images provide the reader with much beauty and grandeur to meditate on as you proceed with your quiet time. Stunningly beautiful.

This book was a fascinating and inspirational read. It contains an amazing collection of some of the finest images from the Hubble Space Telescope interspersed with scripture and quotes from some of the leading christian authors, singers, pastors and laypersons. This book "screams" with the evidence (Romans 1:20) of an amazing creative God who loves us immensely.

A quick read, consisting of amazing pictures of the universe as taken by the Hubble telescope. On each page is a picture of the universe with either a scripture or inspirational quote declaring God's glory. I highly recommend this book for those who are looking for a fresh reminder of God's glory.

"The Heavens Proclaim His Glory" is a coffee-table type book full of full-color photos taken in space accompanied by poems, Psalms, and quotes from Christian authors. Each picture was labeled as to what it was and often had a short explanatory paragraph about what it showed.

The photographs were of galaxies, nebula, stars, planets in our solar system, regions of space, the Hubble telescope, and a few other space objects. The pictures were lovely, especially the full-page ones. There were also a fair number of photographs that were smaller--only about one-fifth of a page in size. Sometimes the smaller size was used to allow room for multiple pictures of different views of the same object.

There was a poem, Psalm, or quote on the page opposite of the photograph with a space and "God created the universe" theme. The text didn't take long to read. The photo information was usually on the same page as the photo. This meant text sometimes obscured part of the picture in the full-page photographs. Several times, the labels referred to "galaxy evolution" and "star evolution." A few of the author quotes also touched on the origins debate. All of the quotes gave God the credit for creating the universe, but there was one quote explaining why the Big Bang fit with the Bible and proved God exists (which, according to Danny Faulkner in "Universe by Design," is a flawed argument if you fully understand the Big Bang model and when you compare the order to the Genesis 1 creation account). There was also a quote explaining how there could be literal 24-hour days of creation before God created the sun, moon, and stars.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, though I did wish that all of the photos had been full-page since that's what I was mainly interested in. I'd recommend this book to Christians who'd like easy access to printed photos of the beauty found in space.

I just received my latest book, The Heavens Proclaim His Glory, from Thomas Nelson. I tend to shy away from the gift books but this particular one piqued my interest because of these truly spectacular pictures from the Hubble Telescope. I have always been fascinated by space especially since I grew up near the Space Coast in Florida. The book presents page after page of pictures and plenty of history and explanation of the various constellations and galaxies and planets that are pictured. I love the details abou the Hubble Telescope construction and purpose and future plans as well as some information about the astronauts who work on it.

“I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God.” - Abraham Lincoln.

The true beauty of this book comes in all the scripture and quotations that accompany each picture. The title is absolutely appropriate for what you find inside. The scriptures perfectly enhance the message that the heavens do proclaim God's glory. And there are many contributions from prominant Christian leaders including Francis Chan, Franklin Graham, Max Lucado and Mike Huckabee. This would make a great coffee table book and would undoubtebly spark some great conversations about how God's greatness.

I have to admit, I didn’t know what to expect when I requested this book. My main motivation in requesting it was the pictures… I love to see pictures of the cosmos, especially those taken from the Hubble telescope. But this book was about more than just pictures, far more than just pictures. When I opened it and began reading it, I literally could not put it down. I actually read the entire book aloud to my husband and five-year-old son. And though it didn’t capture and keep my five-year-old’s attention every minute, there were points when his attention was grabbed and held for longer than I’d have ever expected for a non-children’s genre. That speaks volumes for this book, I think.

The pictures lend a fascinating view of this vast universe we occupy, but the wisdom shared throughout every page tells a far greater story. A story that puts into perspective just how significant the Creator of our world is, and just how small we really are in the grand scope of things. I, admittedly, didn’t realize just how much larger-than-life the Master of our world really is. I never realized just how impossible it is to comprehend His greatness, His power, and His glory. This book clarifies exactly that, however. It tells us, from more than one person’s perspective, just how great He really is. It points to piece after piece of proof positive; that the God of all creation does, in fact, exist; has existed eternally; and is the Source of all that is. The beauty of His creation reflects the unfathomable beauty and greatness that He is. As unspeakably vast as this universe is, He is infinitely larger.

The book had a nice layout and flow. Of course the images from the HST (Hubble Space Telescope) were awesome and the stats about the Cosmos spread throughout inspire awe for our Creator. The quotes were nice and varied, and generally the verses had a connection with their page contexts, although it seemed that many could have been paired much closer.
The e-book version leaves much to be desired, same content but much is lost when the text sits by itself apart from the layout and artwork. This aspect was much of the motivation for why my wife and I developed and made sure our kids book Does God Like... to Paint? (Does God Like... to Paint?) had an e-book that maintainted the image-art-content connection.

A most beautiful book that will be a great coffee table book for the company. The pictures are definitely gorgeous, awe-inspiring and will take your breath away.

Between the pictures there is interesting facts of other planets, galaxies, nebulas and other phenomena found in the deep stretches of space as well as beautiful quotes, sayings or Bible verses to remind you of the glory of our Creator.

Wonderful images taken from the Hubble Telescope combined with Scripture verses of the majesty of God's creating in the heavens, plus some thoughts by Christian authors/writers and those of denominations.
