Theodore Roszak was Professor Emeritus of history at California State University, East Bay. He is best known for his 1969 text, The Making of a Counter Culture.
Roszak first came to public prominence in 1969, with the publication of his The Making of a Counter Culture[5] which chronicled and gave explanation to the European and North American counterculture of the 1960s. He is generally credited with the first use of the term "counterculture".
Brilliantly insightful. An excellent treatise on the human condition and the cycle of birth-to-death using the trump cards of the tarot to scaffold the concepts (supported by myriad religious-text, sociological/psychological research, and historical references). I had no idea what a "scholarly" read this would be when I picked up. Still a manifesto and by no means a reference text, a truly insightful explanation of the human condition. It pulled a few triggers for me...particularly the insights into the "Chariot" parking spot on the life-road. I will read more by Rosznak, to be sure.
