Vytautė Genovaitė Žilinskaitė (g. 1930 m. gruodžio 13 d. Kaune) – Lietuvos prozininkė, humoristė, vaikų literatūros rašytoja. Vytautė Žilinskaitė suaugusiųjų literatūroje garsi kaip daugybės kandžių humoreskų rašytoja, satyrikė. Vaikų literatūroje žinomi jos apsakymai, literatūrinės pasakos, eilėraščiai ir kelios pjesės. Rašytoja dažniausiai pasakoja ne istorijas, o svarsto kokią nors problemą, ji „filosofuoja“ pasirinkta tema, naudodamasi stulbinančiomis hiperbolėmis, fantastiškais įsivaizdavimais, kurdama absurdiškas situacijas. „Vytautė Žilinskaitė gana sėkmingai pakeitė lietuviškojo sąmojo pobūdį, intelektualizuodama jo ištakas ir išraišką dabartinės prozos ir poezijos dvasia“, – rašė Vytautas Kubilius 1995 metais.
Pagal Vaižganto apysaką „Dėdės ir dėdienės“ parašė scenarijų kino filmui „Tas prakeiktas nuolankumas“ (rež. Algirdas Dausa, 1970 m.). 2008 m. jos apysaka „Kintas" įrašyta į Tarptautinės vaikų knygos tarybos (IBBY) garbės sąrašą. Kūryba versta į anglų, vokiečių, lenkų, čekų, slovakų, rusų, bulgarų, portugalų, moldavų, vengrų, latvių ir kt. kalbas.
Labai myliu Žilinskaitę dar nuo vaikystės, kai tėvai gąsdindavo su “Mike melagėliu”. Rašysena persmelkta gyvenimo liūdesio, kartais kiek groteskiška. Robotą ir peteliškę periodiškai pasiskaitau iki dabar. Paprastai apie nepaprastus dalykus.
Prisiminimai. Viena iš mėgstamiausių vaikystės knygų. Klausyta ir girdėta šimtus kartų. Kuomet mama perskaitydavo Aurimo istoriją, verkti atrodydavo gana pavojinga. Gal todėl ši pasaka taip gudriai ir strategiškai autorės buvo patalpinta knygos pradžioje. Po jos belikdavo ramiai klausyti kitų pasakų. Jos visos savotiškai nuostabios.
The Robot and the Moth Tales by Vytaute Zilinskaite Translator Raissa Bobrova Illustrator Alla Vlasova- Children’s illustrated stories- The book is a collection of 9 stories. Introduction- Fairy tales- Old and New- Author is a popular author. His books depict reality and difficulties which ordinary people face in life. Story 1- When Prankster Snow doll did not convert to water- Snow drop was falling on the ground. It was aware that when she will touch the ground, she will be converted to water. She wanted to live and experience life on earth. She wept and requested Sky God not to convert her to water. Sky God granted her the wish and added that she must not weep in life. Snowball found that season changes on earth. Soon it was spring and snow melted. A cow came out of her shed and saw the snowball. Initially the cow thought that winter season is over and she must come out. On finding that the snowball has not melted as yet, the cow concluded that winter is still there. Cow returned to her shed. Snow ball saw a motorcyclist moving towards the city. Snowball sat on the back seat and reached the city. Here snowball witnessed children playing in a park. Pigeons spotted the snowball. Children played around her. Soon it was evening. Snowball felt tired. She jumped on a tulip flower and rested on its flowery bed. Tulip could not tolerate her cold body and threw her down on the grass. Grass also could not bear the snow. Snowball arrived on the road and heard the sound of a child weeping. Jumped to the house and started entertaining the child with her pranks and jumps. Child played and fell asleep. Snowball slept near the child. Soon the child caught fever. His mother arrived, call and a doctor who diagnosed that the child is suffering from pneumonia. Child was sent to hospital in a medical van. Snowball jumped and came on the road. Snowball found that lamp in burning in an apartment. She jumped from the window and reached the table. An old man was sitting and saying that it is my experience that in the world everything has to end one day. When he witnessed Snowball, he was astonished that snowball was melting. This incident made snowball sad. She jumped and rested in a dark hole. Here snowball found that small creates touch her and runaway. She came out and a man selling ice-cream. She rested in the ice-cream box. Snowball found that ice balls are not permanent snow like her. She jumped out and prayed to Snow God to melt her but Snow God did not listen to her. She arrived at the park and touched the tulip tree and wept. Lo! Snowball started melting. Thirsty Tulip thanked snowball for the water which she gave to the tulip. Second story, Curious Earthworm- A fisherman came and dug a hole near the river so that he could find earthworms to hang on his sling wire. Many of the earthworms ran away in fear but one earthworm faced him and was caught between two tobacco smelling fingers. Soon, the fisherman dug him in the snare and threw him in the pond. Earthworm found that cold water had reduced his pain of the thorn in his body. He talked to the fishes near him. He saluted them and welcomed them. After some time, the fishes became friendly with him. He said that they must keep away from the snare wire. Fishes were happy and gave him a coin with a hole to him for his courage and friendship. Soon the fisherman found that this earthworm is useless, he pulled him out and threw him with the coin on the grass. Story 3- The Story of Star Fish- Star fish was living happily with her friends in the sea. One night, she viewed a bright shining star in the sky. Star Fish thought that this shining star is happier than her and she must make an effort to reach the sky. Star Fish climbed on a reef so that the bright star was able to see her. Bright star talked to Star Fish. Star Fish requested him to call her to the sky. Bright star threw a light line which lifted her to the sky. On reaching the sky, star fish found that the sky is a dangerous place. Stars are moving and any of them can hit her and kill her. She now understood that she has taken an incorrect decision and she must make an attempt to return to the sea. Star Fish started weeping. Moon heard her sobs. Moon came near and asked her how a fish who lives in sea had reached the sky. She informed her story that bright star had helped her to reach the sky and now she wishes to return back. Moon viewed that star fish was tied to a light line. Moon cut the line and star fish was back in the sea. Later Star Fish lived happily and satisfied in her sea home. Story 4- Poets Convention about humorous poems- Insects resided near an animal farm. Maggots, Dragon fly, locusts, grasshopper, gnat, housefly resided in their houses with their families. One day it was announced that a Poets’ convention has been organized which will start with blowing of third whistle. Members should take their seats in the hall before the first whistle is blown. Maggot was dark insect but he thought that he was as bright as the sun. He attended the Poets’ convention. One insect recited a poem in praise of the Sun. Every one praised her. Maggot rose from his seat and praised the singer. He announced that next also a Poets’ convention will be held in which poems on member insects about their brightness will be recited. Next day, a rhyme is recited in praise of the sun. Maggot thinks that he is so bright that insects should appreciate his beauty. Maggot jumps up and falls towards the ground. One insect catches him to support him. Maggot understands that he is not the most beautiful insect. He should not compare himself with others.
Istorijos skirtos kiek mažesniam amžiui nei man labai patikusios iš rinkinio "Gaidžio kalnas" ir dauguma yra gana žiaurokos (lėktuvan paliuvusios žąsys, žiogas nutraukta koja, šuo pamušta akim, kuris dar ir nuskęsta, mirštanti peteliškė nutrauktu sparnu ir t.t.), nors vaikams turbūt praverstų sužinoti, kad ir gyvūnams/vabalėliams skauda, taip pat dauguma baigiasi tragiškai, todėl man nelabai patiko.
