What, No Roses?

Rate this book
Unless Dora Duncan can stop it, it's going to be another St. Valentine's Day Massacre. A year ago, her (now ex) boyfriend Nick stood her up at the worst possible moment. That was when she gave up important TV reporting for stories like "Too Stressed for Sex." And though such clips have a certain relevance, things have been a whole lot quieter. Too quiet. Until now.

Now she's gotta go back in time (don't ask!) and stop that very same Nick from messing up the time-space continuum. She has to travel back to a place where everybody speaks easy and cuts a rug-and this Chicago ain't no musical. Here, there are tommy guns and torpedoes, guys and dolls, gin joints, flappers, stoolies, rats and a whole lot more; and prohibition means anything but no.

It's the 1920s. Time for Dora to roar.

Time Travel Romance

Cute, but I quit reading around page 40. With my sagging shelves, I sometimes become almost ruthless as far as the allowable time for a book to pull me in *L*.

And time travel isn't really my thing.

Billed as paranormal or time travel, but the ending was disappointing, it was just virtual reality. The 1920's stuff was interesting. The way the time travel is set up is that their brain goes into someone else's body from the 20's. And I just kept thinking when they had sex, they could be giving the people from the 20's diseases or get them pregnant because they were just using these bodies.

The oddness of this book really drew me to it, I love cheesy time travel romances books but they all are a bit of a cliche, this book had a different feel to it and gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I have to admit I never finished the book because someone begged me to lend them it, I never saw it again. I'm going to have to buy it again to finish the last two chapters.

Wonderful time travel romance set in the Prohibition Era in Chicago. This book is full of humor and romance. Mancusi did a great job in bringing all the elements together with character development and setting...I'd love a sequel!!!

This was a fun book with a great concept...the characters annoyed me at times, but all in all, I liked it...I've already got her other books in my queue!

Where to start? Emotional manipulation, issues with consent, insufficient groveling, and a main character who probably needs therapy more than she needs to get back with her ex? I'm willing to go along with a banana-pants premise but by the end I was ready to throw it across the room.
