The roots of coincidence and conspiracy in American politics, crime, and culture are investigated in this examination of the connections between religion, political conspiracy, and occultism. Readers are presented with startling connections between Nobel Prize–winning physicist Wolfgang Pauli, Carl Jung, and synchronicity; serial killers, multiple personality disorder, and demonic possession; and magic, surrealism, and mind control. Not a work of speculative history, this exposé is founded on primary source material and historical documents. Fascinating secrets are divulged involving Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe, David Lynch, and Jane Fonda as well as links between the Cotton Club murders, the Bluegrass conspiracy, and the Son of Sam cult.
Author who focuses primarily on occult history. He is best known for his book Unholy Alliance, which is about Esoteric Hitlerism and Nazi occultism, and is believed to be the author of the Simon Necronomicon, albeit without much evidence.
He was the president of the international division of Ortronics, Inc., a telecommunications company based in Asia.
He appeared in the TNT documentary Faces of Evil as an expert on Nazi history with special regard to occult and esoteric practices. He has also appeared on the History Channel special Nazi Prophecies. Levenda lives in Miami, Florida.
I wish it was possible to read these books without picking up the very dark vibes. I always have a problem with that and I don't think I would be out of context to that I am very psychic and I have learned over the years that words on a page, images and numbers give off frequency vibrations. Peter is a genius at sythesizing all of this information and writing about it in an intriging and stylish way. It is all fascinating, very disturbing and important information if you want understand the world we live in. I wish I didn't get information on so many levels...
I got this book because I am a fan of Sharon Tate and also Roman Polanski who is probably my favorite film maker. I am less interested in Manson and his coven of killers, but it is interesting to explore the connections between all of these people and why them and why at all.
Peter is a bit afraid to let all of his paranormal insights out on the page. I don't understand people, like those scientists, who go crazy just because they have these paranormal experiences as I have alway had them, and find them fun. I dislike physics terms being applied to clairvoance and the spirit world as that language robs those worlds of Eros, of glamor, of feeling and desire that make contact with those realms so beautiful. I would love to have a talk with Peter Lavenda.
This is a book that will blow your mind on so many levels. Its' an amazing work. I might read the first 2, but I need a Light Shower after each one. LOL!
Peter Levenda wraps up his epic trilogy on the nature and operations of coincidence/synchronicity, "black magic" (i.e. the power of the Image combined with eros) in modern culture and politics, mind control, the CIA, Nazis, Charles Manson, Jim Jones, et al. and brings his thesis home in a virtual cacophony of coincidence and conspiracy that doesn't strain credulity when taken in context with all of the preceding work in the trilogy (with the exception of the last chapter of Sinister Forces: A Warm Gun which still sticks out like a sore thumb with no real connection to his thesis or any other major components of his theories). It's a compelling piece of work that transcends the paranoia of your common Conspiracy Theories and actually has the ability to alter one's view of modern events and politics.
Of course, it's certainly not for everyone. People who strongly oppose any alternate view of the Twentieth Century and its strange violent nature will have the usual reaction and anyone who is a casual "conspiracy hobbyist" will quickly lose interest. Anyone who comes to the work with an open mind and a healthy dose of curiosity will find a wealth of information and leads to other sources that will keep them busy for a long time.
A powerful book. Not for those not initiated in conspiracy fact. Levenda grabs the dark thread that winds through American history and he tries to untangle it so it can be examined in the stark light of day. It's a hard book to review.
One facet of the tread is the significante influence the Nazi cult had on the American intellegence agencies, military/space programs, and politics. It is documented, it is starteling, and it is suppressed.
He also addresses the pervasive facination with the occult by both the Nazi cult and our own insiders.
Of the three books this is the best and worth a read by anyone who has followed conspiracy fact through the years and felt that there is some dark "thing" at it's heart.
While Lavenda falls for the same traps that he claims Maury Terry fell for in "The Ultimate Evil", the first two thirds of this book are intriguing and help add to the picture of the occult in America. However, the final hundred and fifty pages of this grimoire produced grunts and migraines from this reader. The problem is Levenda not only attempts to explore the issue of coincidence with a limited number of specialists and then goes on to follow that with a proclamation that souls exist. What, souls? Peter Levenda seems to be a dualist and this I cannot forgive him for - immaterial interacting with material and causing changes in the material breaks the laws of physics and is a silly notion only used to further ghost stories and cults like the Catholic Church. So it should not be surprising that Levenda is not just a theist but also under the delusion that we have free will. So, from a scientific or philosophical perspective this book is, at times, "bonkers" - however, as a guide through the rich world of the occult, the Son of Sam killings, the Manson cult, Crowley, the origins of the space program, occult symbols, and many more "conspiracies" make this a juicy read worth recommending for those already heading into this rabbits hole for whatever purpose.
I came across Peter Levenda listening to various podcasts on similar topics, probably from following the works of the late Tracy Twyman. Peter Levenda stood out to me due to his colorful personal experiences but also by the tremendous amount of research and the incredible connections he was able to dial in on. I started reading Sinister Forces back in 2018, volume 2 in late 2018/early 2019 and now volume 3 late 2020. The span between my readings makes it semi challenging to clearly critique the entire series, but all in all I found the entire series a fantastic ride full of bizarre synchronicity. I don’t read one book at a time but several, often dozens of books at the same time. Ironically several were brought up in this series and several others which weren’t seemingly related but somehow still corroborated the evidence and theories in this series. I gotta say Levenda is a master researcher for bridging this all together and writes in a way that made this series very enjoyable to digest. Somewhere, during this read, I splintered off to read his new novel which was also fantastic. The quality of the writing and research here is top shelf, with references and a lengthy list of sources that I find impressive, intriguing, and may fill up my roster with more books to track down. I’ll certainly be reading more of his works and highly recommend this series to anyone remotely interested in the themes presented in these books.
I’ve read through a few reviews and have to say I did not find any far reaching theories here or anything to truly disagree with simply because everything was backed by some sort of reference, interview, or scientific research.
As a Christian, I do not engage in occult activities. However, I do believe that we should keep ourselves informed about occult activities that have infiltrated and corrupted our political process.
This is the third volume in a three-volume work in which Peter Levenda continues his investigation of occult involvement in politics begun in Unholy Alliance: A History of Nazi Involvement With the Occult.
As with Levenda's other books, this one is well researched, and if I were rating the book on research alone, I would give it five stars. Unfortunately, Levenda is somewhat long-winded, and these books, like his others, could be better organized. Indeed, this three-volume set could be shortened into a powerful and more effective single volume.
If you have ever suspected that there is more to American politics than meets the eye, this book (and volumes 1 and 2) will certainly make you think about what is really happening behind the scenes.
After wading through the somewhat boring murkiness of Book II, I have to say I was anxious about this final book. Anxiety fell way to comfortable appreciation, as Mr. Levenda's immediate plunge into the analysis of ritual and alternative beliefs of magicians/cultists left me awash with warmer waters. Being a practitioner of sorts and scholar of various studies of thought, I found this writing much easier to consume. Even the explanation of quantum physics relating to the manipulation of events and outcomes was digestible. I no longer felt that Peter was pulling my strings and playing with my emotions by alluding to thoughts beneath the surface that I could sense; he went ahead and pulled the table cloth right out from underneath the dinnerware. Hear, hear, Mr. Levenda! I have no idea what topic I should approach next, but you have my word it will be with your source lists in hand.
Definitely an interesting book and not what I expected, he takes you on a journey through serial killers and satanic cults, to psychology remote viewing and quantum Physics. He doesn't make it clear exactly what the "Manson lie" is though, as in he never tries to say when Manson was brainwashed, or exactly how he was taught to brainwash his followers etc. He still suggests the original Helter Skelter Brainwashing narrative is real, which much of the evidence actually contradicts. He also suggests there was Satanic cult aspect to the murders which is also quite dubious, and he gives Maury Terry's research a bit too much credence in my opinion. Though he does do a better job of describing how a satanic cult might actually work than Terry. I still recommend the book as it will broaden people's horizons, even if I don't agree with his findings completely.
This is a three-volume book on the potentially dangerous intersection of entertainment/pop-culture (mostly) and politics. Levenda tracks this trend from the earliest days of America to the present, showing how the government has either become a victim of "pop-culture" hysteria or has used pop-culture to forward its own agenda, all the while potentially tapping into a greater force that it did not account for. It's not as well organized as his other books, but if you want a glimpse at politics from a completely different angle, give it a try.
Legends reexamines the familiar events of American history through an occult, alchemical lens. His carefully researched discourse leads one to wonder whether history is a chaotic cascade of causes or something more engineered, something more sinister. A very good read.
I learned a lot of very interesting and very obscure facts from this. It’s an exercise in paranoid awareness that seems to tread dangerously close to truth at points. But the book is literally drenched in a sinister darkness, so much so that I had to stop reading for the sake of my mental and spiritual health. It’s been awhile though and who knows, maybe I could stomach it easier now. I’m reluctant to try and would probably warn anyone that reading this could present possible dangers though I hate to be a fear monger. I say if you’re real used to extremely dark literature then you might be fine. Considering how powerful a read it is I would give it 5 stars. But I never quite finished it so..
This is the 3rd volume of Sinister Forces. In this 3rd, Peter continues to open one's eyes to the hidden facet of history that is almost non existent anywhere else. Highly recommend all three volumes with an open mind that will open your eyes as well. It guides you through a history that you thought you knew but never really took a closer look.
Starts off as a engrossing factual read, but drifts towards a subjective metaphysical tome. Knowing what ‘we’ know now about the Zodiac killer, the author’s assertions are questionable.
